Background / History

Huo Wu is the daughter of Huo Lin, the dean of Blazing Fire Academy, and the niece of Huo Tian. She is also Huo Wushuang’s younger sister. As a prominent member of the Fire Clan, she attracts numerous admirers at the academy. 24 26

At Huo Tian’s request, Huo Wu agrees to share her large double-room dormitory with the orphaned Lin Huo rather than let him room with Huo Wushuang. She quickly claims him as her “little brother,” offers her name as protection against bullying, and assigns the entire first floor of the dormitory to him while reserving the second floor for herself. 9 10

After Lin Huo manipulates Huo Wushuang into embarrassing himself, Huo Wu jokingly promotes Lin Huo to her “chief strategist.” She becomes suspicious that Lin Huo is Huo Tian’s illegitimate son because Charmander resembles Huo Tian’s Earthfire Dragon Martial Soul, though Lin Huo repeatedly denies any blood relation. 16

Huo Wu recognizes the importance of Lin Huo’s criticism of the academy’s weighted-running regimen. She brings his observations on untrained muscle groups to Huo Lin, who concludes that comprehensive body tempering can reduce the risks of Soul Ring absorption and improve a Soul Master’s physical foundation. Huo Lin then prepares a reward for Lin Huo in recognition of the information. 20 26 27

Lin Huo eventually moves out of her dormitory into a single room, partly to avoid the attention and trouble created by Huo Wu’s admirers and Huo Wushuang. Huo Wu later seeks him out at his new residence, confirms that Huo Wushuang had instigated the harassment against him, and punishes her brother for it. 25 30 39

Impressed by Lin Huo’s victories over the students who targeted him and over Huo Wushuang, Huo Wu tests his physical strength herself. After he easily breaks free from her level-eighteen Soul Power restraint, she appoints him as her exclusive sparring partner, offering one hundred Gold Soul Coins per month and access to private training knowledge. She also arranges for Fire Clan servants to safely deliver two thousand Gold Soul Coins to Lin Huo’s hometown. 40

Following the Fire Clan’s use of Whale Rubber Secret Medicine, Huo Wu’s physical attributes improve and her Soul Power reaches level twenty. She later accompanies Lin Huo on multiple Fire Clan soul-hunting expeditions, though the first expedition leaves her without a suitable second Soul Ring after the surrounding Soul Beasts flee. 60 62 76

During a later hunt in the Skyfire Mountain Range, Huo Wu becomes the intended recipient of a rare Fire Element Spirit because of her exceptional compatibility with the Fire Shadow Martial Soul. Rather than leaving behind a conventional Soul Ring, the spirit reforms after being dispersed and enters her body in an apparent Sacrifice, prompting her to enter Meditation. 79 80

Despite her arrogance and mischievous humor, she is caring toward Lin Huo. She agrees to house him after learning about his difficult upbringing, helps carry his luggage, worries about his education, and acts on his suggestions for improving the Fire Clan’s training methods. 9 10 19 20

She enjoys teasing others, particularly Huo Wushuang and Lin Huo. Her imagination can run wild, as shown by her insistence that Lin Huo might secretly be Huo Tian’s son despite the lack of evidence. 15 16

Huo Wu is much more interested in practical gains in Soul Master strength than in becoming a refined, well-read lady. The prospect of improving Soul Ring absorption and surpassing others immediately captures her attention. 26 27

Huo Wu is also highly competitive. Although she carefully avoids direct clashes with Lin Huo when she recognizes that his physical strength is overwhelming, her defeat in their sparring match deeply shakes her confidence. Rather than surrendering, she resolves to defeat him in the future, even privately considering joining forces with Huo Wushuang to do so. 44 45

Her attachment to Lin Huo becomes increasingly apparent as their partnership continues. Battle Against Lin Huo

Huo Wu challenges Lin Huo in a private training ground to assess his true strength. Her speed, evasive movement, and fire attacks initially keep him from closing in, but his extreme fire resistance and improvised stone barrage overcome her defenses. A supervising Soul King intervenes, declaring Lin Huo the winner; Huo Wu accepts the loss but vows to win a rematch. 44 45

Fire Clan Soul-Hunting Expeditions

After reaching level twenty through Whale Rubber Secret Medicine, Huo Wu joins the Fire Clan’s Skyfire Mountain Range expeditions alongside Lin Huo, Huo Wushuang, Huo Lin, Huo Tian, and Book Elder. During the search for Huo Wu’s second Soul Ring, the group discovers a Fire Element Spirit in the Skyfire Earth Vein. Lin Huo alone can approach its heat safely and weakens it, after which the spirit unexpectedly enters Huo Wu’s body in an apparent Sacrifice instead of leaving behind a Soul Ring. 79 80
