Background / History

Tang Chen was the former sect master of the Clear Sky Sect and the figure credited with building it into the Number One Sect Under Heaven 123 189. He left the sect more than a decade before Bofeng publicly revealed his parentage, pursuing the Asura divine inheritance in the City of Slaughter 60 186.

During his generation, Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu were known as the Two Peaks of the Spirit Master World. Both stood at Level 99, but Tang Chen had reached that realm through his own efforts and was considered stronger in raw power 189.

Tang Chen spent fifteen years completing the Asura Nine Trials. His absence had severe consequences for his family: Bofeng later explained that Tang Chen’s pursuit of godhood and time in the City of Slaughter left his future son to endure hardships without him 183 189.

Ascension and Return

After Bofeng returned from the future, Tang Chen completed the Asura Eighth Trial and became a demigod 186. He subsequently finished the final inheritance, becoming the Asura God while choosing to conceal his godhood from the wider world 188.

When Bofeng informed him that the Clear Sky Sect had sealed its gates, Tang Hao had been expelled, and Martial Soul Hall had pressured the sect, Tang Chen reacted with overwhelming fury. His killing intent reached Qian Daoliu across a vast distance and caused the latter to recognize that Tang Chen had completed his divine inheritance 189.

Although he sought an accounting with Qian Daoliu, Tang Chen later stated that he did not hold a blanket grudge against Martial Soul Hall and wanted only to resolve the grievances of their generation 192 193.

Tang Chen is first identified as Bofeng’s father when Bofeng reveals his lineage to Tang Xiao and Tang Hao. The revelation establishes Bofeng’s status within the Clear Sky Sect family and explains his possession of the Clear Sky Token and Clear Sky Hammer 37 60.

Reunion With His Son

Bofeng’s time travel brings him face-to-face with Tang Chen and Bo Saixi in the past. Tang Chen learns that Bofeng is his future son and confronts the consequences of abandoning his family for divine inheritance 183.

Asura God Inheritance

Tang Chen completes the Asura Eighth and Ninth Trials, ascends as the Asura God, and keeps his new status hidden to avoid drawing attention to his family and the Clear Sky Sect 186 188.

Clear Sky Sect Retribution
