Ollivander's Wand Shop
"Hagrid, where are we going now?"
Harry and Lester held large ice cream cones in their hands, their little tongues nimbly sucking on them, satisfied expressions appearing on their faces.
"We're going to Ollivander's Wand Shop now, where you'll get your first wand."
Hagrid, leading Harry and Lester, passed through the Potions Shop, which sold cauldrons and Potions, Eeylops Owl Emporium, which sold owls. Finally, Hagrid trio arrived at their destination: Ollivander's Wand Shop.
Lester, at Ollivander's Wand Shop, narrowed his eyes as he peered through the window at the shop's interior.
Ollivander, also one of the 28 Holy Families, not only that, their family also monopolizes the wand business in the entire British Wizarding World.
In the Wizarding World, wands are equivalent to weapons, so despite the dilapidated appearance of this shop, this family is considered an extremely powerful family in the Wizarding World.
As Hagrid entered, the old man Ollivander immediately sensed the arrival of a guest.
"Good afternoon," an old man stood before them. His bright eyes were quite unusual for his frail physique, and it was clear that this old man was indeed quite capable.
Sure enough, it was time for Ollivander to show off his skills.
Thanks to Ollivander's excellent memory and superb wand-making skills, he successfully identified the wands used by Harry's parents. Not only that, he also deduced Lester's background and named the wands used by his two adoptive parents.
It was at this moment that Harry and Hagrid learned that Lester's parents were actually Auror.
"Who wants to go first?" Ollivander's sharp eyes darted between Harry and Lester. In the end, Harry was the first to succumb to the pressure and raise his hand.
"Well, Mr. Potter, tell me, which hand are you better at using?" Ollivander said, pulling out his magical measuring tape from his pocket.
Upon learning that Harry was right-handed, Ollivander showed no surprise and immediately began measuring Harry with a measuring tape.
The measurement wasn't as simple as Harry had imagined. The old man Ollivander measured almost every part of Harry's body with a measuring tape, except for his younger brother, who was wrapped up in layers of clothing and thus spared the measurement.
"All done," he said. "Well then, Mr. Potter, try this one. Made of cardamom and the Dragon Heartstring. Nine inches long. Not bad, very flexible. You can swing it around."
Harry took the wand and waved it lightly; if nothing unexpected happened, then something unexpected was about to occur.
Suddenly, a jet of water shot out from the wand and headed straight for Ollivander.
Just as Harry covered his mouth, fearing Ollivander might get hurt, Ollivander didn't even lift an eyelid. He simply extended a finger and turned the jet of water into a cloud of mist, which then dissipated into the air.
"Perhaps we need to change it. A Hatake one, made of Unicorn Hair. Eight inches long. Good stiffness!"
As he spoke, Ollivander handed Harry another wand.
To be honest, Ollivander's current tactics are very much like those of a conman old man in a fantasy novel. To make customers feel unique, he deliberately gives them a few wrong wands first, and only gives them the correct one at the end.
After this whole process, the young wizards who came to buy wands must be grinning from ear to ear, because kids, after all, don't want to be different.
Finally, Ollivander provided the wand from the original Harry books, the one made with the same tail feather as Voldemort.
Just as Lester began to suspect that Dumbledore and Ollivander had some dirty deal, it was his turn to choose a wand.
"Mr. Bide, are you more proficient with your right hand or your left?"
"Right hand, sir," Lester answered without hesitation.
After saying that, Ollivander took out a measuring tape and repeated what he had done to Harry.
"Raise your arm. Good."
The measuring tape is automatic, first measuring from shoulder to fingertips, then from wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit, and finally head circumference.
After everything was measured, Ollivander moved between the shelves, busy selecting some long boxes to carry down.
Lester watched with great interest as Ollivander busily searched for a wand, and in fact, he was somewhat looking forward to what kind of wand he would get.
"Try this one. It's made of beech and snake nerve. Nine inches long. Not bad, very flexible. Give it a swing and see."
Lester took the wand Ollivander handed him, examined it with great interest, and then prepared to wave it like Harry.
However, Lester was quite certain that this wand was not the most suitable for him, otherwise it wouldn't fit Ollivander's marketing strategy.
Raising his wand, Lester gently waved it at a brick against the wall, intending to lift it.
To everyone's surprise, the brick actually flew into the air under Lester's spell.
"What?!" Lester looked at the wand in his hand with some surprise, thinking to himself, "Wait a minute, is it only the Chosen One gets to exchange wands, and other junior wizards just get them directly?"
Just as Lester began to suspect Ollivander's biased treatment, Ollivander snatched Lester's wand, muttering, "Wait a minute, why do you feel fear when you use this wand?"
Lester: "..."
How the hell am I supposed to know why it feels fear? And besides, isn't this just a magic wand? Why can it feel fear?
Just as Lester was somewhat speechless, Ollivander handed him another wand, saying, "Try this!"
As expected, after Lester waved his wand, the stone by the wall magically flew up again.
Lester: "..."
"How about trying this one?" Ollivander handed over another wand, somewhat skeptical, and said to Lester, "Mahogany, Phoenix Nerve. The wood for this wand comes from the royal family at the end of the 17th century. It's been here for almost a century since the right core was found and it was made."
Sure enough, after hearing about the magical origins of the wand, Lester perked up.
This wand is so powerful, it's bound to be a good match for me.
As a result, a few minutes later, Ollivander frowned again and gave Lester a different wand.
