Anything but Gryffindor
"Children, hurry up, we're on our way to Hogwarts!"
The massive Hagrid led the way, followed by a large group of first-year students. The night was pitch black, with only a few stars providing light. Hagrid, at the very front, carried an oil lamp and led the little rascals forward.
"No more than four people on the boat!" Hagrid shouted to the new students, looking at the small boat on the shore.
Lester and Harry immediately boarded a small boat, and Ron Weasley, not wanting to be outdone, quickly followed. Then, Neville was on the shore, saw Lester on the boat, his eyes lit up, and he followed as well.
"Is everyone on board?" Hagrid called out, traveling alone in his own boat. "Alright... let's go!"
Soon, the small boat cut through the waves, and in the blink of an eye, a tall castle appeared before Lester's eyes.
Lester knew, this was Hogwarts!
As soon as the new students gathered in front of the door, Hagrid knocked three times, and the door immediately opened. A witch with a serious face and dignified movements stood behind the door.
Lester knew that he was Professor McGonagall Gryffindor.
"Hagrid, you may go in and take your seat now. I will take care of the new students from now on," Professor McGonagall said to Hagrid first, and then led the more than one hundred new students into the interior of Hogwarts Castle.
Lester followed Professor McGonagall along the stone-paved path. He heard a commotion on his right, which must have come from students in other grades.
Professor McGonagall led the new students to a small room, which was cramped but not crowded.
Just when everyone was feeling a bit uneasy, the Sorting Ceremony began.
A magnificent place. Four long dining tables extend from the entrance to the innermost part of the room.
Hundreds of senior students sat at their respective college tables, divided by college.
Professor McGonagall placed a four-legged stool in front of the new student and then put a dusty gray hat on it.
Then, something amazing happened: the hat started singing!
"You might not think I'm pretty..."
After the singer finished singing, the entire audience erupted in applause.
Professor McGonagall then took out a piece of parchment and began taking attendance.
Following the list on the parchment, Professor McGonagall said, "Hannah Abbott!"
As expected, the Sorting Hat comes and goes, but Hannah remains a constant; the first person to be sorted is always this little girl from the Abbott family.
Upon hearing this, a blonde girl with twin braids stumbled out of the line, put on her hat, and paused for a few seconds.
"Hufflepuff!" the hat called out.
Then, several more students were called up in turn and assigned to Slytherin, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw House respectively.
When Malfoy's name was called, Malfoy swaggered over and immediately got his wish, the Hat shrieking, "Slytherin!"
Malfoy went to meet up with his friends Crabbe and Goyle, looking quite pleased with himself.
Finally, after several more students were called up, it was the turn of our the Chosen One in the department.
"Harry Potter!"
All the young wizards, including the professors on the stage, were looking at Harry with curious eyes and expectant expressions. They wanted to know which house this legendary boy would be sorted into.
Harry sat in his chair, thinking, "As long as I don't go to Slytherin, any of the other three houses are fine."
Finally, as expected, through Harry's insistence and Dumbledore's arrangements, Harry entered Gryffindor.
Then, Ron Weasley followed in his family's footsteps and joined Gryffindor, while Hermione, one of the three, joined Gryffindor after some hesitation.
Finally, as one freshman after another was called out, only one freshman remained in the hall who had not been sorted into a house: Lester Bide.
"Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw House —basically, anything but Gryffindor is acceptable to me."
Lester thought to himself that no matter which house he went to, as long as Dumbledore didn't stop him, he could easily build a team with his strength.
So, as long as he doesn't go to Gryffindor, he's fine with anything!
