Making a Move on the Marauder's Map
Hogwarts, Seventh Floor, Headmaster's Office.
Dumbledore quite troubled. He said gently, "Relax, Severus, Quirrell is fine."
"No problem?" Snape exclaimed excitedly, "His Killing Curse is as powerful as that person's, how could he possibly be alright!"
"You can't let such a threatening person into Hogwarts, especially since he deliberately tries to get close to Harry Potter during class. Quirrell, there's definitely something wrong with him."
Only 11 years have passed since Voldemort was defeated by Harry Potter, and the remnants of the Death Eaters have not yet been eliminated.
Who knows if Quirrell was once a devout follower of Voldemort, and now he's come to Hogwarts to avenge his master?
"Alright, Snape, I'll keep an eye on Quirrell," Dumbledore somewhat helplessly.
The Wizarding World has been quite turbulent lately, with various forces stirring up trouble, leaving this legendary wizard feeling incredibly weary.
The International Association of Potioneers hopes to thoroughly investigate the sale of counterfeit medicines within the British Wizarding World.
The Flint, Avery, Tuoke families, three Pure-blood families, had their ancestral homes raided without warning, leaving nothing behind.
The other pure-blooded nobles, feeling a sense of shared fate, strongly urged themselves to apprehend the criminals.
That's not all; the Ministry of Magic is currently in the process of electing its minister, and the two strongest candidates, Fudge and Crouch, are locked in a fierce battle.
After dismissing the angry Professor Snape, Dumbledore took a letter from his drawer.
The letter was sent from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic, and the writer was none other than Mr. Crouch. Barty Crouch, a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Magic and a candidate for Minister.
The message was simple: they hoped that Headmaster Dumbledore would publicly express his support for him so that he could successfully become Minister of Ministry of Magic.
Holding the letter, Dumbledore seemed distracted, muttering to himself, "What is Fudge waiting for? Why hasn't he written to me seeking my support?"
As the most powerful and prestigious man in the Wizarding World, Dumbledore's decision was of paramount importance.
But until now, Dumbledore has yet to receive a letter from Fudge seeking his support.
Dumbledore preferred Fudge, whose son was Death Eaters, to Barty Crouch.
However, having not received Fudge's letter for a long time, Dumbledore felt it necessary to reconsider who would be suitable to be the new Minister for Magic.
"Professor Quirrell is really great! I can't wait for the next Defense Against the Dark Arts!"
That evening, in the dining hall of Hogwarts, the young wizards chattered excitedly about what they had learned in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Quirrell was even hailed by the young wizards as a great figure who knew everything from Astronomy.
Harry and Ron Weasley, in particular, became huge fans of Quirrell.
"My father and Professor Quirrell were best friends when they were young," Ron Weasley boasted loudly. "So when Professor Quirrell noticed that my wand was a bit worn out, he immediately took me to Diagon Alley and bought me a new one!"
Ron Weasley was extremely excited, because even his own father couldn't give him a brand new wand.
Professor Quirrell, simply because he was a friend of her father, gave her a new wand without hesitation, which was truly touching.
Ron Weasley treasured the wand that Professor Quirrell had personally given him, and wouldn't let anyone else touch it.
Even with his good friend Harry, Ron Weasley only let him touch it briefly before quickly taking it back, afraid that Harry might break it.
When Ron Weasley went to Filch's for confinement that evening, he had a big smile on his face and kept showing off his new wand.
Lester, Malfoy, Ron Weasley were all placed in long-term confinement for a month.
Every night at nine o'clock, the three of them would appear in Filch's office on time.
"Young Master Malfoy, Young Master Bide, you can rest in your office. Leave the search for the night-wandering wizard to me."
Filch very respectfully brought out two stools, which he had prepared especially for Lester and Malfoy.
As the saying goes, "He who eats another's food is bound to him, and he who takes another's gift is bound to him." Ever since Malfoy gave Filch that broken wand that could cast Cleaning Charm and Lumos, Filch's attitude towards Lester and Malfoy has become increasingly respectful.
Sitting in the chair Filch had wiped clean, Lester casually asked, "Filch, how's the new wand?"
"Very good, I mean, very suitable for me," Filch said with a smile, holding the well-maintained, worn-out wand in his hand.
It's clear that Filch really put a lot of effort into this wand; not only was the wand waxed, but its surface was also wiped spotless.
At this point, Malfoy casually remarked, "Actually, this is a defective product; we have better ones in our family now."
"Not only can it cast Cleaning Charm and Lumos, but it can even cast simple Petrification Curse, making it infinitely better than this defective product."
Filch was extremely embarrassed when Malfoy called his beloved wand a defective product.
But when he heard that Malfoy seemed to have a better wand, Filch was immediately tempted.
The Petrification Curse, Petrification Curse that can petrify naughty little wizards, is exactly the wand that Filch has been dreaming of obtaining day and night.
With the Cleaning Charm and Lumos, Filch's speed in clearing the castle increased significantly.
However, Filch was powerless to stop the mischievous little wizards; he had no means to control them.
He knew perfectly well who was causing trouble, but when he went to the deans of the college to complain, they all told him to provide evidence.
Damn it, how could a Squib possibly catch a little wizard who could cast spells? So he was often turned away.
If I could cast the Petrification Curse, everything would change, and no mischievous little wizard would ever escape my grasp again.
Filch wasn't stupid; he knew that Malfoy's wand wasn't so easy to wield.
Just like this worn-out wand in his hand, it was obtained at the risk of being punished by Dumbledore.
"Weasley, now take the oil lamp and wait for me in the men's restroom on the second floor."
Only Malfoy and Lester knew about his deal with Malfoy.
Such shady dealings are best kept to themselves, so at the crucial moment, Filch didn't hesitate to send Weasley away.
Once he was sure Weasley was far away, Filch asked expectantly, "Master Malfoy, how can I get that wand you mentioned?"
Malfoy did not answer, but turned his gaze to Lester.
Lester said gently, "It's simple, Mr. Filch, bring something in exchange."
"I know the Weasley twins stole a magical map from you."
"If you can get this map back and return it to us, then we can provide you with the wand you desire."
