Hagrid Got Carried Away
Slytherin reveres the strong. If Hagrid is just a big, dumb friend of Lester's, then people might accept him, but they certainly wouldn't be very enthusiastic about him.
But if Hagrid is a powerful figure who can raise dragons on his own, then sorry, you'll become the little snakes' idol from now on.
Draco was the most excited, pulling Hagrid aside and asking him all sorts of questions.
"Mr. Hagrid, what kind of dragon do you keep? Could you tell us about the process?"
Hagrid was quite pleased with the young wizards' compliments.
To be honest, he had never been this popular before. He had always been ignored, and this was the first time so many people had respected him.
"You can just call me Hagrid," Hagrid said, his face flushed with excitement. "Actually, I've never raised a dragon before, but... I have a dragon egg right now."
"A dragon egg?!" Everyone was shocked, followed by a heated discussion.
Hagrid took a sip of the wine from the jug, slightly tipsy, and said, "That's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. If you're interested, you can come and see it in my hut!"
"A dragon egg? You mean there's a dragon egg in your hut!"
All the young wizards were in an uproar; this was a dragon egg!
They had lived all their lives without ever seeing a real fire dragon, let alone the egg of a legendary fire dragon.
"Yes, a dragon egg," Hagrid said proudly, stroking his beard and basking in the adulation of the young wizards.
Draco, whose name is also "Little Dragon," transformed into a devoted fanboy, tugging at Hagrid's sleeve and saying:
"Hagrid, can you take us to see it?"
"Of course!" Hagrid's face was flushed, clearly a little tipsy, and he pulled Draco's arm toward his hut.
Seeing this, the other snakes, including Lester, all followed.
Even the girls who weren't particularly interested in dragon eggs went to Hagrid's Hut because of the crowd.
Upon entering Hagrid's dilapidated cabin, everyone was shocked by the decorations Hagrid.
"My God!" Jiedi couldn't help but stroke Hagrid's butt cushion, wishing he could bury his whole face in it, and said, "This cushion is actually made of Unicorn feathers!"
Malfoy also took a liking to Hagrid's unraveling pillow, because quite a bit of the black feathers inside were showing.
"Thestral feathers, Hagrid, you actually used such precious feathers as material for a pillow!"
In an instant, all the little snakes' gazes towards Hagrid changed, replaced by eyes of admiration for the wealthy.
Lester was secretly amazed; Hagrid was truly wealthy, even his doghouse was made from branches of the Whomping Willow.
Hagrid was quite pleased with the young wizards' lack of knowledge.
Normally, at Hogwarts, even dogs would shake their heads and ignore him.
It wasn't until recently, when Harry came to Hogwarts, that he had a friend he could talk to.
But now, the arrival of this group of young wizards makes Hagrid feel very happy.
"If you like, I can give you some," Hagrid said generously, taking out a burlap sack when he saw how eager the young wizard was for his furniture.
As soon as the bag was opened, the Fantastic Beasts feathers inside appeared before everyone.
Even Malfoy, who came from a wealthy family, was dazzled by the wealth inside.
Lester immediately said, "No, Hagrid, we can't accept such an expensive gift!"
Malfoy wiped his drool and said, "Yes, Hagrid, we're already very grateful that you let us see the dragon egg. We can't take any more of your things!"
A gentleman loves wealth, but he acquires it in a proper way.
Hagrid may be rich, and it's his business if he doesn't care about precious materials. But I can't deliberately rip Hagrid off just because Hagrid's rich.
"Okay, I have plenty here. You can come find me if you need them."
Seeing that Lester and the others were adamant, Hagrid took back the bag, but still wore a happy smile.
Clearly, the simple-minded Hagrid had accepted the group of snakes.
"Hagrid, where is that dragon egg you mentioned? I want to see it," Malfoy asked curiously as he searched around Hagrid's Hut.
Hagrid smiled and led everyone to a small room at the very back.
The room was enchanted with Undetectable Extension Charm, so even with more than 20 young wizards and the Giant Hagrid inside, it didn't feel crowded at all.
Among them, a large egg with blue and white patterns attracted everyone's attention.
Looking at the large egg, Hagrid proudly declared, "This is a dragon egg. You can look at it, but please don't touch it."
Upon hearing this, the young wizards immediately formed a circle around the dragon egg, looking it over carefully.
Lester surveyed the house where the dragon eggs were kept and said, "Hagrid, if your dragon grows up, there won't be enough room for it to live in Hogwarts."
Hagrid's expression froze for a moment, then he said, "I know, but he can only be raised by me now. If bad people get his hands on him, he'll probably be refined by dark wizards."
"I plan to raise it first, and then figure out how to settle it down."
"Fine!" Lester said helplessly.
Although Hagrid is honest and kind, he tends to act without thinking. For example, when it came to raising dragons, he didn't even have a proper place to raise them, yet he dared to raise dragon eggs on his own. He was incredibly audacious.
Looking at Hagrid's shabby room, Lester said with concern:
"Hagrid, you should know how to hatch a baby dragon, right?"
Hagrid hesitated for a moment, then picked up a book from the table. It read, 'From Scratch: How to Hatch a Baby Dragon Alone.'
Lester: "..."
Hagrid opened the textbook and began to read:
"The author of this book is a legendary Magizoologist who once kept Erumpent, Thunderbird, a fire dragon, and even a Unicorn companion."
"I believe that with this book, raising this little dragon shouldn't be a problem."
Lester was a little confused; how come he didn't know there was such a legendary Master of Fantastic Beasts in Harry Potter?
Even Newt Scamander wouldn't dare boast like that; Hagrid must have been fooled.
"Hagrid, can I take a look at this book?"
"Of course, but you must take good care of it, because this book is very precious." Hagrid handed the book to Lester with great care.
As Lester flipped through the pages of this book, which claimed to teach how to raise a dragon from scratch, he became increasingly bewildered.
Although he didn't know much about Fantastic Beasts, the methods he described for raising them were definitely wrong!
The method to speed up the hatching of dragon eggs is to put them in a microwave oven?! Who the hell came up with that idea?!
"Perfect timing, Lester, do you know what a microwave oven is?" Hagrid asked seriously. "I've asked everyone in Diagon Alley, and they all say they don't know what a microwave oven is."
Lester: "..."
