An Encounter with an Injured Unicorn in the Forbidden Forest
That night, Lester, Malfoy, Harry, Ron Weasley arrived together in front of Hagrid's Hut.
Today is their first day of confinement, and also the first day of confinement for the first-year Slytherin students.
However, the freshmen were confined with Filch, while they were confined with Hagrid.
"Children, you've finally come!" Hagrid was delighted and came out carrying an oil lamp.
Lester smiled and replied, "Hello, Hagrid."
Hagrid Lester and said to the four, "While it's a pleasure to see you all here, we still have some tasks to complete."
"The task is simple: conduct a quick search of the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest to see if any Fantastic Beasts are injured, or if anything has happened within the Forbidden Forest."
As they spoke, Hagrid had already led Lester and the other three into the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where dense thickets of trees blocked out the sky and darkness was so profound that one could not see their own hand in front of their face.
"Lumos!" Lester cast the Lumos first, and a bright white light emanated from the Dark Lord's Wand, illuminating the environment within a 20-meter radius.
"A fine Lumos!" Hagrid praised, as he still needed his oil lamp for light.
It wasn't because he couldn't cast the Lumos, but because he had a reason: his wand had been broken by the Ministry of Magic, and he couldn't use it to cast spells in public.
As Hagrid led the way, he explained, "You must be careful when patrolling the Forbidden Forest, because Forbidden Forest haven't been peaceful there lately."
"Note that you only need to patrol the perimeter; do not venture too far in, or it will be dangerous."
"Danger?" Malfoy froze, "Hagrid, what kind of danger are you referring to? Werewolf? Or vampires?"
Hagrid was amused by the naive Malfoy and laughed, "Draco, who told you that there are no such things in the Forbidden Forest?"
"Don't worry, the creatures in the Forbidden Forest are all very friendly, it's just that a bad guy seems to have arrived recently."
Lester neither confirmed nor denied Hagrid's statement; of course, a three-meter-tall Giant like him would think the Forbidden Forest was safe.
Perhaps, in the eyes of the Fantastic Beasts, the danger isn't them, but Hagrid!
"Alright, that's enough for now." Hagrid led the group to a patch of grass and said, "We now have five people plus Fang. We can split into two groups of three."
Despite Hagrid's three guarantees, Malfoy, Harry, Ron Weasley were still extremely hesitant.
"Lester, let's team up with Hagrid," Malfoy said without hesitation.
Harry protested, "Why should we be grouped with Hagrid too?"
Hagrid is tall and strong, and he looks very reassuring, although ideally he would be paired with Lester.
But who knows if Lester might suddenly stab him and Ron Weasley in the back?
"Okay," Lester nodded slightly. "Then that vicious dog, Fang, will be coming with us."
"Woof woof woof!!!" Fang loudly and bravely, showing great respect.
"Lester, I must remind you, although Fang looks very fierce, he's actually quite timid," Hagrid said worriedly. "But I'm confident that with you here, Fang and Malfoy's safety should be guaranteed."
"Alright then. Our mission this time is to find the injured Unicorn. If anyone finds the injured Unicorn, fire the green spark. If anyone encounters danger, fire the red spark. Remember, this is a patrol, safety first, understand?"
The Forbidden Forest was pitch black. Hagrid, along with Harry and Ron, carrying an oil lamp, left from the left, leaving only Lester, Malfoy, and Baskerville, the two men and their dog, standing there.
"Fang, can I ride on your back?" Malfoy was a little scared, so he instinctively wanted to find something to lean on.
Fang: "..."
Lester said helplessly, "Malfoy, stop fooling around, you'll ruin your pants riding a dog!"
Ignoring the timid Malfoy, Lester said to Fang, "Fang, go sniff around and see if there's any Unicorn scent nearby."
Actually, Lester chose Fang not because he was worried about Harry and Ron Weasley's safety, but mainly because although Tooth was Fang, he had a very good sense of smell.
Unicorn are Fantastic Beasts that are welcomed everywhere, so Lester especially wanted to get Unicorn for his Azkaban.
Perfect timing! Now we have the opportunity to get in touch with Unicorn; whether we can seize it depends on our performance over the next month.
Upon receiving the command, Fang's nose twitched rapidly, and it barked twice at Lester before quickly running down a path.
"Keep up, Malfoy!" Lester called out, drew his wand, and quickly followed.
Seeing Lester run away, Malfoy immediately drew his wand and followed him.
A moment later, Fang stopped in front of a large rock and started barking at it incessantly.
Lester walked over, and a ray of moonlight shone through the gaps in the branches, illuminating the silvery-blue bloodstains on the stone.
Malfoy was very surprised and asked, "What is this?"
Lester said expressionlessly, "Unicorn Blood, and it's very fresh; it must have been left about half an hour ago."
Blood was no stranger to Lester; he had killed many people, but usually he used Dark Magic to kill them directly, without shedding blood.
However, this pool of blood is now clearly the work of Voldemort.
"Fang," Lester said seriously, "Can you smell where that injured Unicorn went?"
"Woof woof woof!" Fang barked loudly, spinning around in circles before coming to a steady stop to the west.
There was a dense jungle on one side, and the constant chirping of insects could be heard from within.
Malfoy, somewhat frightened, whispered, "Lester, should we call Hagrid now?"
"No need!" Lester refused immediately. "Hagrid said that we only need to call him when we find an injured Unicorn or encounter danger."
"Malfoy, we haven't encountered anything yet, and you're already calling out to Hagrid? Do you want Harry to laugh at you?"
Sure enough, as soon as he heard Harry, Malfoy immediately perked up and shook his head.
Moreover, Lester is the eldest brother, so naturally he can't contradict what his older brother says.
Actually, in principle, Malfoy was right, and Lester should have called Hagrid over, but Lester had his own selfish motives.
Unicorn are treasures from head to toe. Their blood can grant immortality, their fur can be used as wand cores, and every part of their body can be used as material for making high-end Potions.
If the injured Unicorn were still alive, Lester would definitely heal him, preparing for the future kidnapping of Unicorn.
But if that Unicorn dies, then sorry, Lester is human too, and humans need to eat.
