Thestral Carriages (Thanks to Wandutinglan for the donation, thank you!)
Carson, the butler, chimed in, praising Mr. Weasley for his extensive knowledge and experience.
"Ah, these are your girlfriends, aren't they, Su Yu?" Mr. Weasley mustered his courage and tried to greet the women, having heard that some noblewomen never spoke to strangers.
Fortunately, none of the girls had any spoiled princess attitudes. They politely invited everyone to sit down. During the meal, the Weasley twins kept showing off their invention, the Ton-Tongue Toffee.
"George and I invented it. We spent the whole summer on it, but unfortunately we couldn't find anyone to test it on. All my older brothers are too shrewd to fall for it. There was only one Ron, who almost ate it last time. What a pity..." Fred said with great enthusiasm.
"Mom found a bunch of order forms when she was cleaning Fred and George's room!" Ginny, sitting next to Su Yu, whispered. "It was a long list of prices, all sorts of little gadgets they invented, funny things, you know, fake wands, magic candy, a whole bunch of stuff. But it was really amazing. I never knew they were inventing things, and they wouldn't dare use those things on me..."
"I've always heard explosions coming from their room for a long time, but I never thought they were actually building something. I thought they liked the feeling of being blown up, or maybe they liked the sound..."
"However, most of their stuff... well, how should I put it, it's all of it, it's all a bit dangerous, you know, Su Yu? They were even planning to take it to Hogwarts because there are so many students there, they wanted to sell it there, dreaming of getting rich. When Mom heard about this, she was furious. Not only did she burn all their stuff, but she also sternly warned them not to do this kind of thing again. Mom was in a rage all summer because their OWL grades didn't meet her expectations."
"Once, they had such a huge fight," Ginny continued, "Because Mom wanted them to follow in Dad's footsteps and work for the Ministry of Magic after graduation. Percy was very much in favor, but George and Fred said they just wanted to open a shop selling magical toys after they graduated..."
"What about Crookshanks?" Harry asked Hermione during dinner.
"Look, it's frolicking in the garden outside." She gestured towards the yard with her chin. "It likes chasing ponies and deer, and lately it's become obsessed with that peacock. It's never seen any of those things before. It got into a fight with that little bear a couple of days ago and accidentally got bitten. When Daphne treated it, it cried, but after it recovered, it went to get revenge. This time it got beaten up even harder, and then it became much more obedient. Now it only bullies those weaker than it. I've hit it several times, but it just won't listen. Sigh."
While sipping red wine at the banquet, Mr. Weasley inadvertently revealed that the Ministry of Magic was organizing another large-scale event after the World Cup, but realizing he had let something slip, he didn't say anything more.
Fred, George, and Harry were having a lively discussion about the World Cup.
"It's definitely Ireland!" Sirius interjected, sipping his red wine. "They beat Peru in the semi-finals!"
"But Bulgaria Team has his Viktor Krum! He's enough on his own!" Fred said.
"But Ireland has seven Ireland Team like Krum! But Bulgaria Team only has one," Sirius said dismissively. "However, I really hoped England could sweep them all, but they're so embarrassing, so shameful..."
"What happened?" Harry asked anxiously. He had spent his summers at home, completely cut off from the magical world. He knew very little about the Muggle world and the magical world, which made him extremely frustrated.
"They lost to Transylvania Team, what else? Ten to three hundred and ninety." George explained to Harry, "They played terribly. Wales Team also lost to Uganda, and Scotland Team got thrashed by Luxembourg Team."
Harry felt very full. He sat there watching the peacocks being chased by Crookshanks as they flew quickly through the rose bushes, chirping wildly. They glanced back at their godfather beside them. At that moment, Harry felt truly content.
In the afternoon, after everyone had rested for a while, they saw Butler Carson walk in and bow slightly to Su Yu.
"Young master, the carriage is ready and waiting to depart at any time."
Su Yu nodded and called for everyone to set off. Two Thestral carriage were already parked in the open space outside the hall. Harry and the Weasley family rode in one, which could seat six people, while Su Yu and his large group rode in the slightly larger one.
Two black carriages stood quietly, their carriages carved with simple vine patterns, exuding both restraint and elegance.
What appears empty to onlookers is actually visible to those who have witnessed life and death—several slender Thestral with their heads bowed, their jet-black fur gleaming with a cold, lustrous sheen, their massive, bat-like wings slightly outstretched, their bony wing bones clearly defined.
"Do we need to go incognito? Do I look like Muggle, Harry?" Ron kept turning around and asking Harry, seemingly a little nervous.
"It's so lifelike," Harry said with a laugh. "Very good, but where are Bill, Charlie, and Percy?"
"They can Apparition," Mr. Weasley explained from the side. "Molly said she'll urge them to set off around noon, and told us not to worry."
Harry knew that Apparition something Su Yu's companions often used; by turning into a wisp of black mist, they could instantly appear in another place, which was very convenient. However, he never knew which other Hogwarts house students, besides Slytherin and his group, could do this. He guessed that this magic must be very difficult.
"Why can't we just Apparition there too?" Fred said, disgruntled. "That would be so cool!"
"Because you're not old enough yet. Even if you are, you'll have to pass an exam before you can use it." Sirius yawned; he'd drunk a little too much at lunch and was feeling a bit sleepy.
"Learning to use Apparition isn't enough; we also have to pass an exam?" Harry asked.
"Oh, yes," Mr. Weasley said, straightening his clothes. "The other day, the Department of Magical Transportation fined two wizards for using Apparition without a certificate. It's extremely dangerous, and if used improperly, it can cause a lot of trouble. That's what happened to those two; they ended up splitting themselves in two."
"Oh... uh... in two halves?" Harry and Ron covered their mouths, the thought was terrifying!
"Yes, when they moved, they accidentally left their lower bodies behind. So, when people found them, their bodies were practically nailed to the spot, unable to go anywhere. They had to wait for the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad to arrive and reassemble... cough cough... I mean repair... Honestly, do you know what that means? It means everyone who went to handle the situation will have to prepare a ton of paperwork and clean up their mess afterwards! Because quite a few Muggle saw the parts of those two idiots' bodies that they left behind!"
Harry suddenly realized that if he went out early in the morning and saw two arms and a leg on the road, and a body and part of an eyeball not far away, ugh... just thinking about it was terrifying, and it would give him a lot of psychological trauma.
"What happened to those two guys? I mean, what happened to them in the end?" Ron asked in horror.
"Oh, you mean those two? Nothing serious," Mr. Weasley said casually. "But they were fined a hefty sum, I suppose they'll learn their lesson, and you should too! Never take Apparition. Many adult wizards don't want to get into trouble with it; they'd rather use a broom or a taxi, even though it's slower, it's the safest."
"So that means Bill, Charlie, and Percy can all Apparition, right?"
"Tch, you mean them? Charlie took the test twice before passing," Fred chimed in mischievously. "You know what? The first time he took the test, he suddenly appeared five miles south of the test location, landing on top of an old lady buying a swimsuit. The old lady was overjoyed, like she'd seen her Prince Charming, because the swimsuit vendor had just said that buying his swimsuit would guarantee her dreams would come true! And then that vendor's stall became incredibly popular, hahahahaha..."
"Uh...of course, didn't Charlie pass on his second try? That proves he worked really hard." Amidst cheerful laughter, Mr. Weasley was the first to board the carriage.
"Percy only passed two weeks ago," George said, Haha as he climbed into the carriage. "But ever since then, that big idiot has Apparition downstairs Tenten morning, with his back to us, just to show off his new magic..."
