Background

Su Yu is the young master of the Fawley family in Britain and the sole heir of Shanghai’s Su Clan, one of Eastern University’s Four Great Hidden Families. Before Hogwarts, he lived at Fawley Manor under the care of his butler Carson, with the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed in his soul space as his constant companion. 1 2

His father deliberately withheld the Su Clan’s history from him. At Mount Longhu, the Old Celestial Master reveals that Su Yu’s family was devastated in wars against Japanese invaders: most of his grandfather’s generation died in 1937, and his grandfather Su Wentao and grandmother later perished fighting Demigods in 1959. 55 Su Yu resolves to remember this debt and seeks inspiration from Mount Longhu’s sword and talisman traditions. 55 56

He entered Hogwarts with an Eastern magical heritage, an Everlasting Wood wand, and an Azure Phoenix already in his possession. Dumbledore’s attempt to invade his mind exposed Kurama’s presence and established Su Yu’s distrust of the headmaster. 1
