Background / History

Shizune first appears at Konoha Hospital, where she helps bring the badly injured Jiraiya inside and immediately assesses that his wounds are serious but not immediately fatal. She introduces herself to Hyuga Yizhe as a medical ninja and explains the reputation of the Three Legendary Ninja to him. Their conversation is cut short when she is summoned to Tsunade during her uncle Kato Dan’s critical operation. 4

After leaving Konoha with Tsunade, Shizune remains at her teacher’s side as her medical assistant and traveling companion. She has studied medical ninjutsu under Tsunade for years and is capable of independently treating patients, though Tsunade notes that Shizune never mastered certain secret techniques. 34 52

When Yizhe reunites with them while seeking treatment for his injured hands, Shizune examines him, supports Tsunade during his surgeries, and later allows him to practice medical ninjutsu on one of her patients.
