"That's right!" Dudley wholeheartedly agreed, then continued, "So why does Dumbledore value you so highly?"
"Because I'm Voldemort's nemesis! He needs me to destroy that great scourge, Voldemort!" Harry quickly came up with the answer.
Dudley nodded in agreement. "Exactly! What Dumbledore wants is for so-called justice to triumph over darkness, to maintain stability in the Wizarding World, and to preserve the current relationship between wizards and Muggles, with neither infringing upon the other.
"For that goal, he has carefully laid out his plans. He sees you as the crucial weapon for victory and has devoted most of his attention to you.
"For that goal, he can allow a certain amount of sacrifice. Whether it's sacrificing Hagrid, sacrificing me, or sacrificing some other companion—even sacrificing himself—he would not hesitate.
"But at the same time, he is a kind, amiable elder, an old man who does not always think things through.
"So I admire and despise him, like and hate him. In the end, I want to change him."
"Is it really that complicated?"
Harry could not understand such complicated emotions for the moment, but in his hazy confusion, he gradually grasped the deeper meaning behind them.
"People are complicated. Everyone has many sides. So, Harry, don't be too quick to form rigid conclusions about someone, and don't invest too much energy in people who aren't necessary."
Dudley shared his reflections on life with his cousin and used this as an example. "If things don't work out with Dumbledore tomorrow, then he'll immediately be placed in the category of 'unnecessary people.' Any thought of changing him will be scrapped.
"Our family will leave the United Kingdom at once and go elsewhere to study magic. While growing stronger, we'll focus on solving the problem with the scar on your forehead. Once we're strong enough and have researched magic that counters Voldemort's traits, we'll return and crush him!"
"There's a problem with the scar on my forehead?" Harry caught the key phrase.
"That's right. Voldemort left your scar ten years ago. It hadn't hurt all these years, yet it suddenly hurt today. I knew something was wrong at the time, and what happened afterward confirmed my suspicions.
"Voldemort appeared. His proximity—or rather, his attention toward you—stimulated the scar on your forehead."
Dudley had read the original story, so he already knew the answer. Working backward was easy, and his analysis was well-founded.
"My scar can sense Voldemort?" Harry perked up. "That's a good thing! That means Voldemort won't be able to sneak up on us!"
"To a certain extent, you could say that."
Dudley knew that this connection was not foolproof and that it concealed an even greater danger. He cautioned, "But everything has two sides, Harry. You can't only see the benefits and ignore the risks.
"You need to think about why this scar can sense Voldemort. More precisely, it senses Voldemort's soul.
"The Voldemort we encountered today was parasitizing a wizard named Quirrell. He only had a soul; he was using someone else's body."
"This..." Harry sank into thought, but he lacked enough theoretical knowledge to figure it out right away.
"Harry, do you remember what I told you? Once you pass your eleventh birthday, your childhood is over."
Dudley suddenly put on a stern expression, taking on the role of a strict older brother. "Before, you couldn't devote yourself completely to studying and reading. You were often satisfied with putting in only a little effort, relying on talent to muddle through. I didn't criticize you too harshly because I wanted you to have a more comfortable childhood.
"But starting tomorrow, that will no longer be allowed! You must diligently master every piece of knowledge and every skill that can make us stronger, broaden our horizons, and enrich our wisdom. Learn it thoroughly and make it your own!
"Otherwise, don't talk about avenging yourself with your own hands! Understand?!"
Harry jumped in fright. The pressure embedded in his bloodline cleared his mind, and he hurriedly replied loudly, "Understood, Cousin!"
"When we get home, take the Hogwarts textbooks we bought today, along with the occult and psychology books from my bedroom bookshelf, and read them properly! Study them properly!
"Focus on practical material first: spells, then Magical Theory, then potions and herbology... Do you hear me?!"
"I hear you!" Harry answered crisply, but he felt an invisible pressure settle over him. "Cousin, can you tell me now why my scar can sense Voldemort's soul?"
Dudley did not keep him in suspense and revealed the answer directly. "Only souls can sense souls. Harry, don't forget how Voldemort ended up in his current weakened state as a soul."
"Cousin, are you saying there's part of Voldemort's soul inside the scar on my forehead?!" Harry was stunned. "The protection spell on me rebounded Voldemort's attack, turned Voldemort into a soul, and also trapped part of his soul?"
"The outcome is certainly that, but it probably wasn't because of the Love Protection spell Aunt Lily placed on you. The protection spell was meant to protect you. It couldn't possibly leave behind such a huge hidden danger."
Dudley analyzed, "I'm more inclined to believe that Voldemort practiced some evil dark magic related to splitting souls. When he was severely injured without warning, he unconsciously cast it.
"Voldemort doesn't know that he left a soul fragment in your scar, nor can he sense that soul fragment. Otherwise, in the underground vault today, he wouldn't have needed to read your reactions to confirm your identity.
"Besides, the soul fragment in the scar on your forehead probably has no independent consciousness and can't influence your mind. Otherwise, it would definitely have affected you negatively over all these years and exposed itself to Dumbledore."
"Then, based on that analysis, the soul fragment in my scar doesn't have much of a negative effect on me, right?" Harry said optimistically.
But Dudley rejected that optimism. "That's still part of Voldemort, Harry! If we don't destroy that soul fragment, then once Voldemort's main soul wandering outside dies, Voldemort might be reborn through that fragment inside you!
"When that happens, you might become a second Quirrell!"
"No! I don't want a monster face growing on the back of my head!" Harry was frightened by Dudley's words.
"So we need to find a way to remove or destroy the soul fragment in the scar on your forehead, without harming you." Dudley softened his tone and comforted Harry. "Don't worry, Harry! I'll do it!"
"Cousin! I believe in you! And I'm not afraid either!"
Harry was filled with strength again, and his fear was completely driven away.
The scenery outside the window drifted backward at an unhurried pace. Under the effects of the Muffliato spell, not a single Muggle could overhear the brothers' conversation.
Accompanied by a long train whistle, Dudley and Harry returned to Little Whinging and took a taxi home.
