Background

Tang San was not naturally born or accidentally transmigrated. The Sky Screen reveals that ancient gods refined him as an artificial living anchor bound to Douluo's core, designed to sleep while the plane prospered and loosen as it declined. His rebirth, twin martial souls, opportunities, divine inheritance, and ascent were all components of a script meant to forge a stable gateway to the Dark Heavens. 71 73

At the beginning of the story, he is a recently awakened youth at Nording Academy. He later attends Shrek Academy and forms a close bond with Xiao Wu, whom he calls his beloved companion. 1 4

The Sky Screen's reviews destroy his public image by exposing the Tang Sect's bloody history, the extermination of the Human-Faced Demon Spider clan, his plundering of the Icefire Yin Yang Well, and his alleged calculation behind Xiao Wu's future sacrifice. Tang San's faith in the Tang Sect collapses, while the continent increasingly regards him as a hypocrite and enemy. 12 13 14 15

After the Divine Realm falls, Tang San is stripped of his former power and confined within Barren Mountain. He is initially left isolated from the new cultivation era, unable to access its opportunities or escape his sentence. 28 31 38

Appearance

Tang San is depicted as a black-haired young man. His eyes are variously described as dark, blue, or azure; after his judgment, he becomes gaunt, dust-covered, and visibly worn by isolation. 73 92 105 135

  • Wears False Sea God Divine Armor during his time as a continental fugitive; the armor emits a faint golden glow. 5
  • Carries a Clear Sky Hammer and manifests Blue Silver Grass. 5 12
  • Becomes thin and unkempt during his imprisonment on Barren Mountain. 38

Personality

Tang San initially presents himself as fiercely protective of Xiao Wu. When she becomes the target of a continental hunt, he promises to protect her even at the cost of his own life, though he is frightened by the overwhelming strength pursuing them. 5

He is also proud, resentful, and deeply attached to the Tang Sect. After accepting Li Xuan's armor to survive, he privately vows revenge for the humiliation he suffered. The revelation that the Tang Sect was built on cruelty leaves him enraged and psychologically shattered. 5 12

The Sky Screen portrays his earlier conduct as selective compassion: he expresses devotion toward Xiao Wu while having slaughtered other Soul Beasts for power, resources, and soul rings. His exposure forces him to confront guilt, regret, and the possibility that he has been a tool of the gods rather than a master of his own fate. 13 15 22 73

During the Outer Darkness crisis, Tang San becomes calmer and more self-sacrificing. He refuses the Dark Sovereign's offer of freedom, considers giving himself up to spare the continent, and later develops into a measured commander capable of coordinating Douluo's defenses under extreme pressure. 84 92 124 126

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, a pair of martial souls presented as part of the gods' carefully constructed script. 5 71 73

  • Clear Sky Hammer — Used in direct combat; Tang San attempts to attack Li Xuan with it but is effortlessly repelled. 5
  • Blue Silver Grass — Can erupt instinctively in response to emotional turmoil. 12
  • Blue Silver Domain — Later channels a new, gentle origin that restores his depleted power at a rate beyond the former feedback of faith. 105

Tang Sect Techniques

Tang San is proficient in the Tang Sect's hidden-weapon traditions and related techniques. 5 13

  • Uses hidden weapons, poison, and precise attacks against enemy weak points. 13
  • Employs Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track for evasive movement. 13
  • Uses Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon to restrain opponents. 13
  • Possesses the Mysterious Heaven Skill, which Li Xuan dismisses as insufficient to defy the Divine Realm's control. 5
  • His poisons and hidden weapons can be countered by Li Xuan's Myriad Poisons Pearl. 13 14

Plane Anchor Nature

Tang San's existence is bound to Douluo World as its anchor, seal, and potential passage to Outer Darkness. 70 71

  • If he dies, Douluo World will collapse. 71
  • If he leaves Barren Mountain or the seal fails, the Darkness Passage can open and Outer Darkness can descend. 71 84
  • The Dark Lord and Divine Realm treat him as a strategic target because killing him would sever Douluo's Origin link and collapse its defensive systems. 92 140

Plane Authority

As Douluo's ruler, Tang San can direct the plane's origin and defensive infrastructure. 135 140 148

  • Activates Myriad Spirits Blood Sacrifice, damaging the Divine Realm's Resurrection Divine Sacrifice Array and disrupting its endless-resurrection advantage. 135
  • Separates an incarnation of the Plane Will to discuss strategy with Youji. 148
  • Uses the Plane's resources to support barriers, battlefield formations, and allied combatants. 124 140

Strategic Command

Tang San becomes a wartime planner and commander during Douluo's conflicts with the Divine Realm. 124 126

  • Convenes emergency meetings and reallocates preparation priorities when the invasion deadline is reduced. 126
  • Orders reinforcement of inner defenses, deployment of Soul Guidance cannons, medical stations, and long-range units after the Myriad-Era Barrier collapses. 137
  • Oversees reconstruction, barrier repair, relic recovery, civilian evacuation, and mobile cleanup operations. 122 148 156

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • False Sea God Divine Armor — An imitation set given by Li Xuan. It is strong enough to keep Tang San alive against Titled Douluo-level opponents and rapidly heals his injuries. 5
  • Clear Sky Hammer — One of his martial souls and his primary heavy weapon in direct combat. 5
  • Tang Sect hidden weapons — Used alongside poison and movement techniques in his earlier soul-beast hunts. 13

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — Formerly his closest companion and beloved. Tang San protects her during the continental hunt, but the Sky Screen's revelation concerning her sacrifice shatters their bond; Xiao Wu later severs her ties with him. 4 5 15 28
  • Li Xuan — Tang San's principal exposer and manipulator. Li Xuan saves him from pursuers, gives him armor, claims ownership over his survival, and engineers the Sky Screen reviews that ruin his reputation. 5 12 13
  • Tang Hao — Tang San's father and a Clear Sky Sect figure whom Tang San reveres; Tang Hao's own history is exposed before Tang San's downfall. 3
  • Tang Chen — His Clear Sky ancestor. Tang San comes to understand Tang Chen's lifelong perseverance while witnessing his sacrifice against the Dark Lord. 71 83
  • Bibi Dong — Initially one of Tang San's chief enemies and a victim of his Sky Screen-revealed future. After learning he was created and scripted by the gods, she develops sympathy and later coordinates with him in Douluo's defense. 1 73 124
  • Shrek companions — Oscar, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong stand with Tang San despite the danger surrounding his identity as the Plane Anchor. 92 99
  • Youji — A fellow defender of Douluo. Youji shields Tang San from a Supreme God's assassination attempt, while Tang San supports plans to manage Youji's Myriad Spirits Will backlash. 140 148

Collapse of His Ideals
