"Ugh!!!"
The moment Green emerged from the tunnel, he dropped to the ground and began dry-heaving, all dignity gone.
It took quite a while before Green felt well enough to look around. Green trees filled his vision, along with the stumps he had cut earlier. Some had even sprouted branches and stubbornly survived, while low shrubs grew around them.
Darkness covered the land. Only the moon and stars gave off specks of light, illuminating the world.
"Nighttime?" Green judged from his surroundings.
"It was night when I entered the ruins, but daytime inside. The two must be opposites! Still, the Child of the Sun Bloodline is convenient. I don't even need to cast Sorcery on my eyes!"
With the Child of the Sun Bloodline, Green could see his surroundings clearly as long as there was light.
"No!!!" Green cried out and immediately ran to one of the stumps he had cut down.
The stump stood where it had been, its surface covered in green moss. Parts of it had begun to rot, leaving one black hole and hollow after another!
"Chip, analyze this now. How long would a freshly cut stump take to end up like this?" Green asked urgently.
[Ding! Based on the stump's degree of decay and the surrounding environment, approximately three months!]
Hearing the Chip's response, Green patted his chest and let out a long breath.
Clearly, time flowed at a vastly different rate inside the ruins than it did outside. That also explained how the ruins had endured so long. Tens of thousands of years might have passed outside while less than a thousand had passed within. The difference in the passage of time was the main reason the ruins had survived until now instead of collapsing completely.
"Good thing I didn't stay long.
