Potion Preparation

Clearly, aside from people like Green who remained immersed in their studies, the other apprentices in the academy had already received the news. On his way back to the dormitory, Green's powerful senses allowed him to hear apprentices everywhere discussing the Pale Forest purge.

Looks like it's time to go back and solidify the other three spells in preparation for unexpected situations. Green looked at the tense atmosphere throughout the academy and lowered his head in thought.

Sitting on his dormitory bed, Green began considering which spells to solidify.

My defenses are covered by the Grand Knight's barrier. For frontal ranged attacks, I have Lesser Energy Fireball. For close combat, I have Treant Summoning. What I need to deal with now are spells like illusion and curses. Frontal battles aren't frightening—the truly dangerous things are spells with strange effects.

Green had the Chip rapidly record all the spells. Based on the total amount of Green's mental power, it optimized the spell models by consuming a portion of his mental power each day without affecting his overall combat ability.

After the Chip finished recording them, Green carefully selected three spells from among them, had the Chip optimize them, and finally solidified them in his mental power space.

[Illusion Breaker] and [Curse Cleansing] were the two spells Green chose.

Green feared no frontal confrontation. What he feared was being cursed and suffering a disastrous defeat in the shadows. Aside from those two spells, he also had the Chip construct models for the remaining spells, so even if he needed to use them temporarily, he would not waste much time. As for curse-type spells, Green had also studied them in depth. However, as a life-type wizard, he was destined to use such spells sparingly.

"There's still a month before the academy begins its Pale Forest purge. During that time, I'll familiarize myself with using spells and practice basic potion preparation." Lying on his bed, Green made his plans before entering meditation.

Early the next morning, Green took the scroll Lilian had given him and arrived outside the laboratory Lilian had mentioned.

The laboratory door appeared no different from an ordinary wooden door, but Green could clearly sense the energy radiation emanating from it.

"Chip, scan."

[Scanning] [Scan result: The door carries a counterattack spell. When attacked, it absorbs the incoming energy attack and returns it at double strength. Estimated energy limit: 25 degrees.]

"It can withstand attacks from a Formal Wizard? As expected, every wizard places great importance on laboratory security." Green nodded as he looked at the Chip's results.

Taking the scroll from his robes, Green watched as the laboratory door immediately reacted. The scroll flew from his hand and adhered to the door.

"Passphrase being verified."

"Passphrase verification complete: Highest authority confirmed, Lilian. Granting secondary authority."

"Please release your mental power to complete the mental imprint!"

A mechanical female voice came from the door, cold and emotionless, with a trace of hoarseness.

Hearing the door's prompt, Green directly released his mental power toward it.

Green felt as though his mental power had brushed across the surface of water, creating ripples unlike anything before.

"Mental imprint completed. Welcome, Mr. Green."

After the mechanical female voice informed Green, the scroll that had been stuck to the door dissolved into particles.

With a creak, the door opened.

Green entered the potion laboratory. It was extremely spacious, as large as a basketball court, with all manner of beakers and instruments lining the walls. At the center stood an enormous workbench, covered with everything needed for potion preparation. Beakers, glass rods, petri dishes, graduated cylinders, levels, weighing platforms, and other equipment were all fully stocked.

Green stepped before the tools and touched them with his right hand. A cool sensation spread through his fingertips, giving him the illusion that he had returned to his previous life.

The Chip's scan results filled Green with delight. These instruments were almost all brand-new, of excellent quality, and would be enough to serve him for a long time.

Having a good teacher really was wonderful, Green thought.

At the very back of the laboratory was a small door with the large word "Storage" written on it.

When he opened the storeroom, rows of shelves appeared before Green, holding various medicinal ingredients. Each shelf had written labels in front of it. There was also a preservation spell inside the storeroom to extend the ingredients' shelf lives.

"Let's make a Lesser Life Potion first." Acting immediately, Green began searching the storeroom for raw materials.

When Green reappeared in the laboratory, he carried a transparent box in his right hand filled with green fruits, with a plant root resting on top. In his left hand was another transparent box filled with ice. Faint energy fluctuations came from within it, and at a glance, an organ resembling a heart could be seen beating inside.

He placed both items on the workbench.

"Chip, begin simulation."

[Detecting the surrounding environment. Combining it with the potion preparation process. Full simulation commencing.]

A complete 3D model appeared before Green's eyes, simulating the entire process of creating the potion.

Within the simulation, Green failed many times at first. As the number of potion preparations increased, the failures gradually decreased until they vanished completely.

[Simulation results: After 10 preparations, potion success rate: 10%. After 20 preparations, potion success rate: 50%. After 50 preparations, potion success rate: 85%. After 100 preparations, potion success rate: 99%.]

Green's face was filled with a smile. As expected, as the number of his real-world experiments increased, the external environment would interfere with the Chip less and less, until it could completely control all external variables.

Potion preparation in the wizard world was not simple. Slight individual variations and interference from the external environment could both cause a preparation to fail.

Potion masters accumulated experience through this endless process of failure. By sensing these minute differences, they constantly adjusted their preparation methods until they finally created the medicine they desired.

This required not only talent, but even more experience. Environmental interference was not something that could be avoided merely through talent.

"Chip, transmit the potion preparation process."

[Beginning transmission.]

The entire potion preparation process was transmitted into Green's mind. Faced with all kinds of unexpected situations and the ways to handle them, Green felt as though he had practiced them countless times and could respond with ease.
