"Let's begin!"
Green's gaze turned sharp and focused as he took out a fist-sized azure fruit from a container.
"Elf Fruit, a special fruit altered through elemental radiation. It contains an abundant amount of life force, but its medicinal properties are extremely violent. If an ordinary person consumes it, the immense infusion of life force will overwhelm them, causing them to bleed to death from every orifice. It must be diluted before being made into a potion to temper its effects."
Green placed the Elf Fruit into the press. The hammer above it slowly descended. Under the immense pressure, the Elf Fruit instantly burst apart, and green juice flowed from its pulp. The juice traveled through the channel below and into a beaker.
Green used a dropper to draw the required amount of juice from the beaker. After carefully weighing it on a scale, he poured it into another beaker.
Green activated a heater and placed the beaker on it. The heater was similar to an alcohol lamp from his previous life, except it did not need to be lit. It only needed a burst of mental power to activate, and its intensity could also be adjusted with mental power.
"This heater is really convenient. It's far less troublesome than an alcohol lamp."
The heater continued warming the liquid, and in less than two minutes, the juice in the beaker began to boil.
Watching the boiling juice, Green used Wizard's Hand to pick up a dropper, draw some purified water, and drip it into the juice one drop at a time.
This step continued for more than ten minutes. The originally green juice had been diluted to one-tenth of its original concentration, and its color had turned emerald green. It looked crystal-clear, far more beautiful than before.
[Dilution critical point reached. Add 15g of Aisa Tree Root immediately.]
Hearing the Chip's prompt, Green controlled Wizard's Hand to pick up the Aisa Tree Root placed atop the container. Following the Chip's markings, he gently cut it apart with a small knife and weighed it on the scale. No more, no less—exactly fifteen grams.
Without hesitation, Green added the weighed root to the beaker. The endlessly boiling emerald liquid seemed to have been mixed with a stabilizer. Its bubbles gradually shrank, while its color turned red. A strange scent wafted from the beaker, like the woody fragrance of trees and the freshness of grass.
Green stared fixedly at the beaker, occasionally focusing his attention on the Chip's interface.
[Monitoring changes in medicinal properties. Estimated completion time: 7 minutes.]
The blue light screen constantly shifted. The Chip thoroughly monitored all kinds of information, including the changing medicinal properties in the beaker, the ingredient structure, and elemental concentration.
The entire room was silent, save for the heater's faint hum.
[Time is up.]
The instant the Chip gave its prompt, Green split Wizard's Hand in two. One hand took out an organ resembling a heart from the container, while the other lifted the beaker. Both floated in midair.
At the same time, strange sounds came from Green's mouth, like the song of a bird, sometimes high-pitched and sometimes low.
The heart in Green's hand seemed to receive some tremendous stimulus and began beating frantically. The thumping grew louder and louder, echoing throughout the laboratory.
Watching the violently beating heart, Green poured the juice from the beaker into it through its blood vessels. The originally red heart began turning green after the liquid entered it.
[Biological transformation complete.]
This phenomenon continued for ten minutes. Only after the Chip's prompt did Green proceed to the next step.
"Arian—Wusa!" Green chanted an incantation.
With the chant, Green's mental power slowly penetrated the heart, synchronizing with its unusual rhythm under his interference.
The heart's surface began secreting emerald liquid as though it were sweating. Using Wizard's Hand, Green placed the beaker beneath the heart to catch the dripping liquid. As the liquid seeped out, the heart's beating gradually slowed.
The liquid secreted by the heart was crystalline and translucent, glimmering like an emerald.
Once the heart had fully returned to normal, Green immediately placed it back into its previous container. Upon entering the cold container, the once-beating heart seemed suppressed, twitching only once after a long while.
"The heart of a Forest Cheetah really is useful. It can be reused." After offering his thanks to some unknown Forest Cheetah, Green looked at the emerald liquid in the beaker.
"Not bad luck. I succeeded on my first try."
"Chip, test the purity."
[Ding! Testing... Result: Lesser Life Potion successfully prepared. Quality: good.]
"Good? Not excellent? Looks like there are still problems. Chip, what caused them?" Green asked after hearing the Chip's report.
[Cause: First, flame control was not adjusted in time. Mental fluctuations were slightly disordered, resulting in minor flaws and reduced potency. Second, the Aisa Tree Root was prepared on the spot, causing a slight delay and insufficient stabilization of the potion's effects.] [Solution: First, have the Chip assist with mental adjustments during the potion-making process. Second, cut the Aisa Tree Root in advance to ensure it is added to the liquid immediately.]
The Chip summarized the causes and even proposed solutions.
Green frowned, somewhat dissatisfied with his performance.
Of course, only Green could say such a thing. If outsiders learned that Green had succeeded in preparing a potion on his first attempt—and that it was of good quality—they would surely consider him a monster.
Ordinary apprentices usually needed hundreds of attempts before successfully brewing their first basic potion. Only as their experience grew would their success rate steadily rise. Ordinary potion-making apprentices rarely made timing errors like Green's; most problems arose from failures in mental power control.
Controlling mental power was no simple matter, and fine control was even more difficult. The slightest lapse in concentration could alter the curve of mental power fluctuations, causing the entire potion-making process to fail.
With the Chip's assistance, the possibility of an error in Green's mental power control was almost negligible. The greatest difficulty faced by ordinary apprentices posed no challenge at all to Green.
"Continue!"
Green began another round of preparation, repeating the same process.
This time, with the Chip's assistance, Green made no timing errors at all, and his mental power control was flawless.
"It's done! An excellent-quality Lesser Life Potion!" Green smiled as he carefully filled glass test tubes with the emerald liquid, ultimately obtaining ten bottles of Lesser Life Potion.
"Just one tiny bottle of this potion can allow a severely wounded, dying person to quickly recover from their injuries. It can also restore a certain amount of mental power. Even at ten Magic Stones per bottle, it will still be highly sought after among apprentices."
Green gently shook the emerald test tube, as though he could already see himself becoming rich.
And that was indeed the case. A success rate close to one hundred percent was shocking even in the entire wizarding world. Before he possessed absolute strength, Green would not let anyone learn of it.
For the following period, Green traveled back and forth between the laboratory and the spell testing grounds, doing everything he could to increase his ability to protect himself during the upcoming Pale Forest sweep. Although the Chip already had simulation functions, Green felt that he still needed some practical experience.
