A vast projection hung before them, showing the war between the Player Civilization and the Wizard Civilization.
Lives vanished every moment on the brutal battlefield. The High-Level Wizards from the Black Wizards watched calmly, without a trace of pity or hesitation. The High-Level White Wizards, however, looked at the countless dying Wizards with grief and reluctance in their eyes.
Black Wizards and White Wizards differed greatly in temperament. As a result, the Wizarding World had developed a peculiar reversal in how it commanded wars.
On lower-tier battlefields, those below the Sixth Level, High-Level White Wizards usually took command. Their compassion and humanity drove them to minimize Wizard casualties, even at the cost of more resources.
On higher-tier battlefields, those at the Seventh Level and above, High-Level Black Wizards usually made the decisions. They would stop at nothing to secure a strategic victory, and widespread casualties among lower-level Wizards were often unavoidable.
This division of command was a pattern the Wizarding World had settled on after a long period of evolution.
Putting Black Wizards in command of lower-tier battlefields could easily cause massive losses among the rank and file. But putting White Wizards in charge of higher-tier strategy could lead to a catastrophic defeat!
Though the Wizards present had long expected a difficult fight, their reactions still differed sharply along the divide between Black and White Wizards.
"The World Cluster Consciousness is truly powerful. Its instinctive rejection of outsiders alone would probably keep even us from using much of our strength inside their World Cluster. If we fought them head-on, we might only manage a draw against those Top-Level Players from before!"
The Avatar of Diases, an Eighth-Level Wizard, spoke first.
