Time passed bit by bit.
An hour later.
Berk opened his eyes, looking somewhat confused.
"How did it go? Did it work?" Lohr hurriedly asked.
"This spell..."
Berk paused, gathered his thoughts, then slowly spoke under Lohr and Kateya's expectant gazes:
"I think this spell is very strange. It seems impossible to cast and can only be used within the Sea of Consciousness."
"As for its effect, aside from magnifying everything in the Sea of Consciousness many times over, it doesn't seem to do anything else."
"I'm sorry, but the spell you created seems to..."
As he spoke, Berk suddenly sensed that something was off. The more he talked, the more excited the two people across from him became. It was very strange.
"I really am a genius, hahahaha!" Lohr laughed heartily.
This time, he had more confidence than ever in saying those words.
After all, he had truly built the Microscope Spell rune by rune himself.
The Game Panel had not played the slightest role in it. It did not even count as decoration.
"I have never seen a genius as extraordinarily intelligent as you," Kateya praised with heartfelt admiration.
A First-Level Apprentice had created such a spell based solely on an accidentally discovered phenomenon. His unparalleled talent was plain to see.
"So this is the effect you wanted?"
Berk looked bewildered. "But this spell only lets you see a little more clearly inside the Sea of Consciousness. It has no other use!"
"You'll understand in the future." Lohr smiled. "For now, your task is complete. You may leave."
"All right." Berk scratched his head, stopped thinking about it, and turned toward the dormitory door.
In any case, the Contribution Points had already reached his account. Everything else had nothing to do with him.
Lohr, meanwhile, went into the bedroom and took out the communication orb that could contact his mentor, Agular. He poured mental force into it.
About three minutes later, an aged voice came from the communication orb.
"Lohr, what progress have you made this time?"
Every time they communicated, the old man would ask what progress he had made. Only if Lohr's answer satisfied him would he answer his questions.
"Mentor, I've completed the Microscope Spell," Lohr immediately announced happily.
"You really completed it? Have you had someone try constructing it?" Agular pressed him with questions.
Agular had learned about Lohr researching a new spell seven days ago, and had even guided him through three difficult problems during that time.
In his estimation, Lohr would need at least a month just to set up the framework and find someone to construct it, and it would most likely fail.
At minimum, it would take a year, with his funding, to fully complete it and attempt to apply for a laboratory.
Who would have thought that in only ten days, Lohr had already finished constructing it?
"I've already had someone construct it. It was very successful!" Lohr said with a smile.
"Wait there. I'll come take a look."
Agular could no longer sit still. He immediately ended the communication, cast the Earthvein Traversal Spell, and rushed straight toward Lohr's dormitory.
A second later, an old man with a full head of white hair and beard abruptly appeared before Lohr.
"Where is the spell rune model? Let me see it," Agular said.
"Yes, Mentor." Lohr nodded and led Agular into the study.
"Greetings, Wizard Agular." Kateya was startled upon seeing Agular and hurriedly bowed.
Agular paid her no attention at all. His eyes held only the parchment Lohr handed him.
"Overlapping... compression... compounding... reversal... adjustment..."
He softly recited the foundational runes that made up the rune structure while pondering them.
More than twenty rune combinations within it were combinations he frequently used.
Clearly, after learning the Rune Construction Method he had taught, Lohr had drawn inferences and added them himself.
"My student, you have not disappointed me."
After a long while, he turned to Lohr and smiled. "This auxiliary rune model can indeed be of help to some Official Wizards."
"You flatter me, Mentor." Lohr spoke modestly. "It is all thanks to your excellent teaching. Without your guidance, I might have been stuck on certain steps for a long time and perhaps would not have been able to construct it."
Old men needed flattery. As long as he made this one happy, perhaps he would not need to meet any conditions before asking questions in the future.
"Hahaha, it's not that exaggerated."
Agular smiled and waved his hand. "I merely gave you some guidance. Your own talent played the greater role."
"If it were some rotten wood, no amount of teaching would make them come up with such a spell model."
"You're right, Mentor," Lohr agreed, then asked, "So when can the laboratory be approved?"
"Leave the laboratory matter to me."
Agular took it upon himself. "Have you chosen your assistant? If you have, I'll submit the application together."
Laboratory research assistants received compensation, with the base payment being one hundred Contribution Points per month.
In addition, if the researcher contributed any outstanding results to the Wizard Tower and the Alliance, their compensation would increase. Those Contribution Points would be paid by the Wizard Tower.
The researcher themselves received five hundred Contribution Points, and outstanding results would likewise bring increased compensation, far more than an assistant would receive.
More importantly, researchers could apply each month for free quotas of certain special resources, such as apprentice spell slots, faith crystals, strange lifeforms, divine remains, and so on.
"I've chosen one. Kateya." Lohr pointed at Kateya, who had been ignored the entire time.
Over the past few days, he and this assistant had developed a certain degree of tacit understanding.
Besides, leaving the assistant position vacant would not earn them empty pay, and there was simply no need to replace her.
"That will do." Agular nodded in agreement. The next instant, he cast the Earthvein Traversal Spell and vanished from the study.
"Lord Lohr, thank you." Kateya's face was filled with wild joy. "From now on, I will do my utmost to accomplish anything you ask of me. I will never hesitate in the slightest."
With the compensation from being a research assistant, combined with her own third-level meditation talent, her chances of becoming an Official Wizard had increased countless times over.
For the old her, that had been nothing more than an unattainable dream.
Yet now, in merely ten days, she had achieved it through Lohr, this genius.
"A little advice: don't spend your Contribution Points recklessly. Save them for a few years, and don't ask why." Lohr smiled. "There's nothing else for now. You can go back first."
He could give Kateya a hand at the right time, provided she listened to his advice and saved enough Contribution Points. She should not expect him to pay for her.
"Yes, Lord Lohr." Kateya bowed deeply to Lohr, then left the dormitory with excitement in her heart.
She firmly remembered Lohr's words, because she knew that geniuses like him could see much farther than mediocre people like her.
In any case, it was only for a few years. There was no rush.
After dismissing his assistant, Lohr returned directly to the bedroom, sat cross-legged on the bed, and began using his final spell slot to construct the Microscope Spell Model.
Since every step had been created by Lohr himself, constructing this spell model was exceptionally easy this time, progressing with unbelievable smoothness from start to finish.
In only two minutes, he had completed the Microscope Spell Model.
Lohr tried touching the Microscope Spell Model with his mental force. The next instant, he saw his Sea of Consciousness magnified roughly three thousand times.
The previously modest Fire-Earth Elemental Domain around him seemed to have become an elemental lake.
The four spell rune models and the meditation rune model standing within the Elemental Domain had become as magnificent as towering mountains.
Every tiny node in all five rune models was clearly reflected in his eyes.
