All classes for students of the Shrek Outer Court were canceled the day after tomorrow?
Xie Xie sprang up from his bed, staring at the message Dean Cai had posted on his soul communicator.
He tapped the light screen twice. Its glow fell across his face, illuminating the sleepy bewilderment in his dark green eyes. The metal bed frame in the work-study dormitory shook as he got up, its legs scraping the floor with a short squeak. Outside the window, morning dew still clung to the Chinese parasol tree. Its leaves turned in the breeze, exposing their silvery undersides.
Of course, as Wu Changkong's four direct disciples, things were nowhere near that simple for them.
Early that morning, Zhuo Shi and Feng Wuyu came straight to their door.
Zhuo Shi walked ahead at an unhurried pace. The morning breeze lifted a few strands of his short, graying hair, revealing his sharply defined forehead. He was not particularly tall, but his broad shoulders made him look like a solid wall as he stood there.
Feng Wuyu followed half a step behind him, one hand behind his back and the other stroking the sparse beard on his chin. His gray-brown eyes narrowed as he swept his gaze down the work-study dormitory corridor. The walls were whitewashed, with patches peeling away to reveal the gray concrete beneath. The ceiling lights were off, and only the small window at the far end let in a patch of white light.
Feng Wuyu stroked his beard.
"Zhuo Shi, you old codger. That Tang Wulin we saw at the Skysea Alliance Tournament last time-I haven't seen him lately. Maybe I've just been a little busy."
His voice was hoarse, like sandpaper scraping wood. He rolled his beard between his fingers once, then again, his brows slightly furrowed.
