Background / History
In his original timeline, Tang Wulin fails to prevent Gu Yue from freezing herself to save him. The Golden Dragon King then brings him into the Golden Dragon Palace and offers a time reversal, judging Tang Wulin “barely qualified” after viewing his memories. Tang Wulin and the dragon are sent back separately, with the dragon arriving earlier in history. 1 2
Tang Wulin awakens in his childhood home in Aolai City, reunited with Tang Ziran, Lang Yue, and Na’er. He conceals his memories of the future and the changes to his body while adapting to his younger self’s life. 5
Before returning him to normal time, the Golden Dragon King changes several aspects of Tang Wulin’s strength: Jinyu becomes a ten-thousand-year soul spirit, and Tang Wulin receives a golden torso bone and dragon-wing soul bones. The dragon had also intervened earlier by possessing Wu Changkong and killing Dark Hummingbird, preventing the deaths of Wu Changkong and Long Bing. 5
Tang Wulin leaves home for Eastsea Academy, where he becomes involved with Class Five after fighting dormitory rivals Zhou Changxi and Xie Xie. During an evil soul master assault on the academy, he draws Ye Guojie away from the students, escapes using his dragon wings, and defeats Ye Guojie within the Golden Dragon Palace. 10 12 13
Following the attack, he reunites with Gu Yue in this timeline. Though she lacks the memories he carries, Tang Wulin is determined not to let her suffer as she did before. 15 16
Appearance
Tang Wulin is a nine-year-old boy in the altered timeline, with a childish appearance and small, chubby hands. His body conceals major Golden Dragon King alterations beneath an otherwise ordinary exterior. 5 13
- His Blue Silver Grass is thicker than normal and glows pale gold. 6
- When using bloodline power, golden light may spread beneath his skin and his eyes can flash crimson-gold. 5
- He possesses folded golden bone wings on his back; when deployed, they have a wingspan of more than three meters and are lined with sharp bony ridges. 5 12
- His torso bone pulses in his chest “like a second heart.” 5 6
Personality
Tang Wulin is deeply attached to his family and carries the grief of losing them, Gu Yue, and others in his former timeline. Returning to childhood gives him a chance to protect them, and he is willing to hide dangerous truths about his future memories and the Golden Dragon King to do so. 1 5
He is cautious when the Golden Dragon King proposes actions that could alter history, but he refuses to abandon others when they are threatened. During the Eastsea Academy ambush, he chooses to draw the enemy away rather than simply flee, arguing that innocent students should not be dragged into the conflict. 7 12
Tang Wulin is persistent in training and accepts repeated defeat as part of improving. He also remains considerate toward his friends and family, earning money through forging, buying gifts for his family, and including Xie Xie in an outing after initially teasing him. 8 18 27
Abilities & Skills
Golden Blue Silver Grass
Tang Wulin’s primary martial soul is a mutated Blue Silver Grass that has grown thicker, pale gold, and unusually responsive to his emotions.
- Its vines can move independently, climb surfaces, and react gently to people near him. 6
- Through the grass, Tang Wulin can sense the rhythms of nearby heartbeats. 6
- Blue Silver Entanglement — summons vines to bind targets; he first uses it to gently ensnare his family. 6
- He combines Blue Silver Grass with close-range movement and bloodline-enhanced strikes in combat. 17 18
Golden Dragon King Bloodline
Tang Wulin shares a body and spiritual connection with the Golden Dragon King, whose power remains within him after the time reversal.
- He can enter the Golden Dragon Palace or a spiritual arena to communicate and train with the Golden Dragon King. 5 20
- He can manifest the Golden Dragon Spear, though his child body cannot consistently bear or wield its full weight outside the spiritual realm. 5 13 20
- His bloodline power enhances his physical resilience; the torso bone absorbs much of the force from Wu Changkong’s attacks. 18
- Golden Dragon Prison-Suppressing Strike — while acting in Golden Dragon King form within the palace, he annihilates Ye Guojie. The exertion afterward leaves his bloodline power difficult to draw upon. 13
- Dragon Wings — golden wing soul bones allow sustained aerial escape and maneuvering. 5 12
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang Wulin’s second martial soul is a black, dark-golden Clear Sky Hammer fused with Golden Dragon King bloodline power.
- It awakens after his soul power reaches level 30. 22
- Its violent aura suppresses Xie Xie’s martial soul. 26
- The hammer can change shape at will, a trait Tang Wulin associates with a deeper connection to fundamental laws. 25
- It can generate dark-golden lightning and earthen spikes when striking the ground. 24
- It can transform into a dark-golden longsword and release a crimson, lightning-wreathed slash. 24
- Large attacks consume his soul power heavily, though Wu Changkong finds no backlash from the martial soul itself. 24
Dragon Emperor Break
A self-developed bloodline technique practiced in Tang Wulin’s peak-body form within the Sea of Spirit.
- Forms a dark-golden dragon phantom that strikes with concentrated bloodline force. 20
- Its power is sufficient to push the Golden Dragon King back half a step. 20
- A blocked meridian in Tang Wulin’s right arm limits the technique; opening it could increase its speed by thirty percent. 20
- His current young body cannot reproduce its full power outside the spiritual realm. 20
Crane Control, Dragon Seizure
A soul-power manipulation technique used to redirect opponents rather than meet their attacks head-on.
- Tang Wulin wraps guiding soul power around Xie Xie’s clones, shatters them, then redirects Xie Xie’s true body. 26
- He expects to reveal the technique more openly when the group eventually enters the Tang Sect. 26
Mental Control
Tang Wulin demonstrates an unexplained mental control ability upon arriving at Eastsea Academy.
- He incapacitates both Zhou Changxi and Xie Xie during the dormitory confrontation. 10
- Xie Xie remains unable to determine whether the ability comes from a martial soul mutation, twin martial souls, or a soul-guided device. 12
Forging
Tang Wulin is Mang Tian’s disciple and applies both past-life experience and enhanced physical ability to metalworking.
- His strength, accuracy, and forging rhythm noticeably improve after returning to the past. 8
- He passes the Level Two forging assessment by producing First-Grade Thousand Forged Blue Pregnant Copper. 19
- The Forging Masters Association recognizes him as its youngest Level Two forger. 19
Relationships
- Gu Yue — The girl Tang Wulin failed to save in his former timeline; he regards her as his future wife and resolves to change her fate. Their renewed relationship begins with a spar, growing companionship, and mutual concern. 1 7 16 27
- Golden Dragon King — The spirit bound within Tang Wulin’s soul and the source of much of his altered power. Their relationship is confrontational but increasingly cooperative: the dragon enables the time reversal, strengthens Tang Wulin, and trains him. 1 5 20 25
- Tang Ziran — Tang Wulin’s father, a mecha repair worker who borrows money to obtain another soul spirit for his son. 5
- Lang Yue — Tang Wulin’s mother, whose care and pride deeply affect him after his return to childhood. 5 8
- Na’er — Tang Wulin’s younger sister. He works to earn money for gifts and deliberately releases the Golden Dragon King’s aura in hopes that she and the Silver Dragon King will notice it. 5 8
- Mang Tian — Tang Wulin’s stern forging teacher, who considers caring for him part of his duty and notices that something unusual may be emerging within him. 5 6 8
- Wu Changkong — His teacher and a father-like figure in Tang Wulin’s eyes. Tang Wulin’s actions help alter Wu Changkong’s fate, while Wu Changkong rigorously trains and monitors his growth. 5 17 18 24
- Xie Xie — Initially a dormitory rival, later Tang Wulin’s friend and sparring partner. Xie Xie calls him “Boss” and is frequently overwhelmed by Tang Wulin’s rapid growth. 10 18 26 27
- Mu Chen — President of the Forging Masters Association, who recognizes Tang Wulin as Mang Tian’s outstanding disciple and supervises his forging assessment. 19
