Background / History

In his original timeline, Tang Wulin fails to prevent Gu Yue from freezing herself to save him. The Golden Dragon King then brings him into the Golden Dragon Palace and offers a time reversal, judging Tang Wulin “barely qualified” after viewing his memories. Tang Wulin and the dragon are sent back separately, with the dragon arriving earlier in history. 1 2

Tang Wulin awakens in his childhood home in Aolai City, reunited with Tang Ziran, Lang Yue, and Na’er. He conceals his memories of the future and the changes to his body while adapting to his younger self’s life. 5

Before returning him to normal time, the Golden Dragon King changes several aspects of Tang Wulin’s strength: Jinyu becomes a ten-thousand-year soul spirit, and Tang Wulin receives a golden torso bone and dragon-wing soul bones. The dragon had also intervened earlier by possessing Wu Changkong and killing Dark Hummingbird, preventing the deaths of Wu Changkong and Long Bing. 5

Tang Wulin leaves home for Eastsea Academy, where he becomes involved with Class Five after fighting dormitory rivals Zhou Changxi and Xie Xie. During an evil soul master assault on the academy, he draws Ye Guojie away from the students, escapes using his dragon wings, and defeats Ye Guojie within the Golden Dragon Palace. 10 12 13

Following the attack, he reunites with Gu Yue in this timeline. Though she lacks the memories he carries, Tang Wulin is determined not to let her suffer as she did before. 15 16

Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, and Xie Xie win the Class Advancement Tournament for Class Five. Tang Wulin later gives Xie Xie a defensive soul bone reshaped by the Golden Dragon King. The academy subsequently selects the trio, along with Zhang Yangzi, Wang Jinxi, and Wei Xiaofeng, for the new Class Zero. 33 34 35

During Class Zero’s Riot Period Spirit Ascension Platform exam, Tang Wulin leads the team against a ten-thousand-year Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear. A battlefield rewind gives them another chance after an initial failure; Tang Wulin then directs the assault that ends with Xie Xie killing the bear. He notices that events are diverging from his memories, including the timing of Xu Xiaoyan’s appearance. 37 40 41

Tang Wulin remains involved with his family while advancing his forging and cultivation. He sends an immortal herb to the injured Mang Tian, plans to renovate his family’s home and arrange a wedding ceremony for his parents, and hopes Na’er can live freely rather than become a pawn in the conflict surrounding the Silver Dragon King. 34 43

After Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi’s departure from the team, Tang Wulin helps make room for Xu Xiaoyan as its needed control-type Soul Master. Xu Xiaoyan joins Class Zero, and Tang Wulin works with her, Gu Yue, and Xie Xie in coordinated training against Wu Changkong. 56 58 59

At the Skysea Alliance Tournament, Tang Wulin breaks forging records and defeats Shrek Inner Court student Ye Xinglan while restraining his final attack to avoid seriously injuring her. His public display of strength draws scrutiny from Wu Changkong and Zhuo Shi, as well as attention from hostile observers. 64

When Tang Wulin learns that Ninth-Level Soul Guidance Shells are being moved within Spirit Pagoda Headquarters, he accepts a temporary surge of the Golden Dragon King’s power and confronts the Qiangu family. He defeats Qiangu Dongfeng and Qiangu Dieting, then seizes the two shells, reverses their impending explosion, and sends them through a spatial rift. The Golden Dragon King’s remaining power turns violent, and Tang Wulin disappears. The dragon’s sealed origin subsequently breaks free and overwhelms him in a direct confrontation. 67 68 69 70 71

Three years later, Tang Wulin is alive and has reached five rings. No longer restricted by the Golden Dragon King’s seal, he returns to Shrek with inherited laws and Dragon Emperor techniques at his disposal. He later leads Gu Yue, Xie Xie, and Xu Xiaoyan in an assessment against Yun Ming. 74 79

Tang Wulin is a nine-year-old boy early in the altered timeline, with a childish appearance and small, chubby hands. His body conceals major Golden Dragon King alterations beneath an otherwise ordinary exterior. 5 13

Tang Wulin is deeply attached to his family and carries the grief of losing them, Gu Yue, and others in his former timeline. Returning to childhood gives him a chance to protect them, and he is willing to hide dangerous truths about his future memories and the Golden Dragon King to do so. 1 5

He is cautious when the Golden Dragon King proposes actions that could alter history, but he refuses to abandon others when they are threatened. During the Eastsea Academy ambush, he chooses to draw the enemy away rather than simply flee, arguing that innocent students should not be dragged into the conflict. 7 12

Tang Wulin is persistent in training and accepts repeated defeat as part of improving. He also remains considerate toward his friends and family, earning money through forging, buying gifts for his family, and including Xie Xie in an outing after initially teasing him. 8 18 27

He defends Uncle Li from an extortion attempt without escalating the confrontation beyond what is necessary. As a team leader, he assigns roles and coordinates his companions’ abilities, even accepting injury to create an opening against Yun Ming.
