Ch. 102Remember to Eat When You're Done

Key plot points and events

  • In reality, Tang Wulin is having a severe nightmare. Gu Yue notices his disturbed aura and sweat-soaked appearance. Unable to enter his consciousness because a dragon-patterned barrier repels her spiritual power, she wakes him by calling his name and using a small, carefully controlled sphere of elemental light.
  • Startled and still frightened, Tang Wulin asks Gu Yue for a hug. She embraces him and reassures him that she is there.

Character developments

  • Tang Wulin is shaken by the dream’s vivid betrayal and death, revealing how deeply it affects him. Despite his usual composure, he reaches openly for comfort and lets himself cry.
  • Gu Yue shows practical concern and tenderness. Though she initially approaches the nightmare in her own unusual, matter-of-fact way, she responds to Tang Wulin’s vulnerability by holding and soothing him. Her blush and trembling suggest the closeness affects her too.

Ch. 103He Also Said...

  • On the way back to the dormitory, Xie Xie boasts that he is both talented and hardworking, prompting Xu Xiaoyan to plan a prank in retaliation for calling her lazy.
  • They find Tang Wulin and Gu Yue looking tidied up, with Yue Zhengyu also present. Xu Xiaoyan rushes behind Gu Yue, using her as cover and threatening Xie Xie with the possibility of telling her what he said.
  • Tang Wulin notices the awkwardness and tries to settle the dispute. Xu Xiaoyan first denies anything is wrong, but, when pressed, reveals that Xie Xie mocked her—and then adds that he said Tang Wulin and Gu Yue had been intimate in the room. The chapter ends on Tang Wulin and Gu Yue’s shocked reaction.

Character developments and interactions

  • Xie Xie is embarrassed by what he witnessed, then quickly turns to boastful humor and exaggeration. He teases Xu Xiaoyan, panics when his words may reach Gu Yue, and appeals to Tang Wulin for rescue.
  • Xu Xiaoyan shows a playful, mischievous streak. Rather than confront Xie Xie directly, she uses his own gossip to tease and intimidate him.
  • Tang Wulin acts as a thoughtful mediator, sincerely concerned that the group’s friendship remain strong. His earnest attempt to resolve a small quarrel accidentally draws out Xie Xie’s more damaging gossip.
  • Gu Yue remains quiet and composed, but her unreadable, cool gaze is enough to make Xie Xie nervous. She is physically close to Tang Wulin, which fuels the others’ speculation.

  • Teasing and social embarrassment: Xie Xie’s exaggerated gossip and Xu Xiaoyan’s retaliation turn an awkward moment into a comic group confrontation.

  • At the well’s entrance, they meet Youyou, an evolved Exquisite Fragrance plant who helps guard the sanctuary. Wu presents his Tang Sect token and requests the Lovesick Heartbreak Red.
  • Youyou examines Wu’s condition and discovers that he has already absorbed an octagonal mysterious ice grass. Its power suppresses a hidden, deathly aura in his dantian, so the Lovesick Heartbreak Red is unnecessary.
  • Youyou offers to summon “Little Bing” to help remove the remaining contamination, though she warns that the helper is difficult to deal with.
  • Long Bing is relieved when she learns Wu is not in immediate danger. Wu, however, becomes furious because Youyou’s alarming reaction had frightened her.

  • Long Bing is devoted and eager to help: she begins unbuttoning Wu’s clothes before realizing Youyou only needs to sense his condition. Youyou’s hesitation makes her visibly anxious, and the good news brings her relief.
  • Youyou is curious and somewhat nervous around Wu’s formidable power. She carefully assesses his condition, sneezes when his extreme cold reaches her, and gives an unexpectedly reassuring diagnosis.
  • Wu comforts Long Bing by holding her hand, while Youyou’s examination becomes a source of tension between the plant and Wu.

Significant themes

  • Love and protectiveness: The couple’s closeness is shown through Long Bing’s urgent care and Wu’s quiet reassurance—and, finally, his fierce reaction to her fear.
  • Duty and sacrifice: Wu’s absorption of the ice grass was an emergency measure that helped him survive, despite his regret at not preserving it for Long Bing.
  • Nature and power: The well’s intelligent immortal herbs and Ferocious Beast guardians are protected by Tang Sect rules, while Wu’s extreme cold affects even Youyou.
  • Miscommunication and comic contrast: Long Bing’s premature attempt to undress Wu and Youyou’s sneeze briefly lighten a tense discussion of his potentially fatal condition.

  • He explains that he has come seeking help for his own hidden injuries and accepts the Grass’s hostility toward humans, but says they will leave if she refuses to help.
