First Appearance Chapter 6

Background

Kashimo was an undefeated sorcerer from roughly four hundred years before the Culling Game, reputed as the strongest of his era. Near the end of his natural life, he accepted Kenjaku’s Binding Vow and became a cursed object so that he could be reincarnated in an era containing stronger opponents—above all, Ryomen Sukuna. 6 13 38

He entered the Culling Game in Tokyo No. 2 Colony on November 1, 2018. His search for Sukuna brought him into contact with Jie Jian, whose knowledge of the future and the Game initially made him suspicious but useful. 6 7

Appearance

Kashimo is initially depicted as a lean man with blue hair styled after Nezha and an iron staff carried over his shoulder. 6

  • Blue, Nezha-style hair. 6
  • Uses an iron staff designed to store electrical charge. 23 69
  • During Mythical Beast Amber, his body becomes an electrical “Ultimate Lifeform” capable of reshaping itself. 117
  • After Jie Jian revives him from electrical dissipation, he is reconstructed as a petite girl with a changed voice; his temperament and combat instincts remain unchanged. 119

Personality

Kashimo is defined by an uncompromising desire to fight the strongest opponents available. He considers ordinary sorcerers beneath his interest, views death as an acceptable cost of battle, and repeatedly pursues Sukuna even when warned that the encounter may be fatal. 8 11 80

His pride is easily provoked by dismissal or underestimation. Angel’s indifference, Jie Jian’s teasing, and Miwa’s apparent confidence all provoke immediate hostility. 75 182 234 However, he recognizes courage and skill in others: he respects Ryu Ishigori after their battle and acknowledges Miwa’s resolve when she follows Jie Jian’s instructions without retreating. 87 184

Despite his brutal combat philosophy, Kashimo identifies himself as human and chooses to exorcise Kurourushi after learning that the curse hunts humans for the iron in their blood. 81

Abilities & Skills

Electrical Cursed Energy

Kashimo’s cursed energy possesses electrical properties, granting him exceptional speed, destructive striking power, and control over positive and negative charges. 23 81

  • Infuses his body and iron staff with lightning to enhance close-range attacks. 81 116
  • Transfers positive charges to targets through strikes, then triggers interactions with negative charges to attack them. 23
  • Can place charges into terrain and structures rather than directly into an opponent. 24
  • Retrieves his iron staff remotely through the attraction between its negative charge and the positive charge in his body. 23
  • Possesses high resistance to lightning, making electrical techniques and stuns less effective against him. 24
  • Uses electrical current to burn and expel Kurourushi’s parasitic larvae before they can hatch. 81
  • Can electrolyze seawater to create poisonous chlorine gas, though the tactic is ineffective against opponents with sufficiently advanced Reverse Cursed Technique. 110

Unrestricted Thunderstorm

Kashimo’s battlefield-scale charge detonation converts most of his cursed energy into positive and negative charges embedded throughout the surrounding area. 24 25

  • Saturates surfaces with charges through seemingly inaccurate staff strikes. 24
  • Detonates the entire prepared area in an indiscriminate thunderstorm. 24
  • Damages Kashimo as well, though homologous cursed energy mitigates the backlash. 24
  • Its extreme energy cost left him unable to defend himself when Jie Jian counterattacked with Reverse Cursed Technique. 25

Mythical Beast Amber

Mythical Beast Amber is Kashimo’s one-use Technique Release. He withheld it for Sukuna for most of the Culling Game because activating it permanently destroys his body once the transformation ends. 8 15 117

  • Rewrites his flesh and brain, abandoning ordinary human limitations to become an “Ultimate Lifeform.” 15 117
  • Greatly increases speed, agility, physical power, and electrical control. 15 117
  • Allows bodily reshaping, including a Spinal Dragon Form. 117
  • Produces destructive sound waves and point-blank electromagnetic waves capable of nearly vaporizing a target. 117
  • Temporarily outpaced Jie Jian and inflicted catastrophic injuries before Jie Jian’s Cursed Technique Burnout ended. 117
  • Cannot be sustained indefinitely; Kashimo’s body cracks, bleeds, slows down, and ultimately collapses under the technique’s backlash. 117 118

Hollow Wicker Basket

Kashimo cannot use Domain Expansion because his cursed technique can only be used once in his lifetime. He instead relies on Hollow Wicker Basket, an ancient anti-domain technique. 8

  • Defends against the sure-hit effects of Domain Expansion. 8 79
  • Allowed him to survive Ryu Ishigori’s Domain Expansion despite being badly burned and nearly exhausted afterward. 87
  • Eventually failed against Jie Jian’s Mighty Thunder Altar, exposing Kashimo to its guaranteed-hit effect. 118
  • He later teaches the technique to Jie Jian, though Jie Jian’s Adaptive Evolution cannot learn supportive techniques through damage alone. 79

Combat Skill

Kashimo combines centuries-old battle experience with relentless close-range pressure and skilled staff combat. 24 116

  • Rapidly analyzes unfamiliar techniques and identifies conditional weaknesses. 23
  • Fights tactically when direct lightning attacks are countered, using terrain, weapon control, and delayed charge placement. 24
  • Exploits differences between an opponent’s perception and physical reaction speed, as demonstrated against Kasumi Miwa. 185
  • Disarms opponents by sliding his iron staff along their weapon rather than relying only on raw force. 186

Equipment

  • Iron Staff — A cursed tool used for melee combat and charge storage; its electrical resistance lets it withstand high-output lightning. 23 69
  • Golden Bug — Culling Game interface used to check points and submit new rules. 8 9

Story Role / Major Arcs

Tokyo No. 2 Colony

Kashimo begins the Culling Game with 76 points and needs 100 to add a rule permitting travel between colonies. He spares Jie Jian because Jie Jian’s information is more valuable than the five points earned from killing him. 8

After defeating enough sorcerers to reach the required total, Kashimo adds a rule allowing players to enter and leave Culling Game barriers freely. The change opens his route toward Sendai Colony and its concentration of powerful sorcerers. 9

He later encounters Yuji Itadori and Choso, immediately recognizes Yuji as Sukuna’s vessel, and demands that Sukuna emerge for a duel. 11 When Sukuna uses Yuji’s Binding Vow to incarnate through Jie Jian, Kashimo stops Choso from interfering because he wants Sukuna’s resurrection to succeed. 15 He activates Mythical Beast Amber and fights Sukuna, but is defeated. 15 16

First Battle with Jie Jian

Kashimo later duels Jie Jian in a shopping mall. Jie Jian’s lightning absorption directly counters Kashimo’s charge-based attacks, forcing Kashimo to shift toward staff combat and battlefield preparation. 23 24

Kashimo creates an Unrestricted Thunderstorm by scattering charges throughout the mall and initially appears to win. However, Jie Jian heals with Reverse Cursed Technique and knocks Kashimo unconscious while his cursed energy is depleted. In his deathbed vision, Kashimo regrets that he could not make Jie Jian fight seriously. 24 25

Alliance and Sendai Colony

After another confrontation with Jie Jian, Kashimo is defeated while Jie Jian is holding back. He is then unwillingly included in an alliance with Jie Jian and Angel, united by their separate goals concerning Sukuna. 75 76

Kashimo teaches Jie Jian Hollow Wicker Basket and becomes eager to travel to Sendai after learning that Ryu Ishigori—an opponent from his own era—is there. 79 In Sendai, he volunteers to fight Kurourushi alone, destroys much of the cockroach swarm with lightning, and neutralizes the Rotting Life Blade’s implanted eggs by electrocuting them inside his own arm. 80 81

He then battles Ryu Ishigori. Rain weakens Kashimo by causing his electrical cursed energy to leak away, but Ryu refuses to exploit the disadvantage and opens his domain to create fair conditions. 83 Kashimo survives the domain with Hollow Wicker Basket but emerges severely burned and nearly out of cursed energy; nevertheless, he earns Ryu’s respect. 87

Duel with Jie Jian and Revival

Following Sukuna’s defeat, Kashimo challenges Jie Jian as the next strongest opponent after dismissing Satoru Gojo as a “loser.” 116 His conventional attacks cannot pressure Jie Jian, leading him to finally activate Mythical Beast Amber. 116 117

Mythical Beast Amber allows Kashimo to severely wound Jie Jian, but Jie Jian recovers when his Cursed Technique Burnout ends. Kashimo continues fighting until the transformation destroys his body. 117 118 Jie Jian then opens Mighty Thunder Altar, uses the domain’s guaranteed-hit effect to assimilate Kashimo into lightning, and subsequently restores him with Cursed Technique Reversal: Inverse. 118 119

The reconstruction deliberately leaves Kashimo in a female body, provoking an immediate attack on Jie Jian with Executioner’s Lightning. 119

Kasumi Miwa’s Training

After Miwa’s apparent return to the period before the Shinjuku battle, Kashimo becomes her sparring opponent. He dismisses her as unworthy, repeatedly exposes the limits of her reaction speed and Simple Domain, and demands that Jie Jian take control of her body for a genuine fight. 185 186

While possessing Miwa, Jie Jian expands Simple Domain across the entire training field and uses Thunderclap and Flash to sever Kashimo’s staff and inflict a severe chest wound. Kashimo correctly recognizes that Jie Jian has modified the technique’s Binding Vow conditions. 187 188

Shinjuku Battle Preparations

Kashimo continues to seek a chance to fight Sukuna in Shinjuku and objects when Jie Jian sends Miwa into the battle before him. 199 200 Jie Jian persuades him to wait by appealing to his desire to use Mythical Beast Amber in a dramatic one-on-one confrontation that would force Sukuna to acknowledge him. 200

Relationships

  • Jie Jian — Initially an intelligence source and potential target for Culling Game points; becomes Kashimo’s rival, ally, teacher, and eventual friend. Jie Jian repeatedly calls him “Little Deer,” defeats him several times, and revives him after Mythical Beast Amber destroys his body. 8 76 118 119
  • Ryomen Sukuna — Kashimo’s primary reason for accepting Kenjaku’s pact and entering the modern era. He wants Sukuna to acknowledge his strength and answer his questions about the nature of power. 6 15 200
  • Kenjaku — The sorcerer who made the Binding Vow that allowed Kashimo’s incarnation. Kashimo never trusted Kenjaku and remained curious about his true objective. 13
  • Ryu Ishigori — A fellow sorcerer from Kashimo’s era and long-sought rival. Their Sendai battle ends with mutual respect after Kashimo survives Ryu’s domain using Hollow Wicker Basket. 79 83 87
  • Angel / Hana Kurusu — An uneasy ally in Jie Jian’s anti-@@REF_ENTITY_16314907@@ group. Angel’s dismissal of Kashimo as insignificant wounds his pride and helps trigger his fight with Jie Jian. 75 76
  • Kinji Hakari — A powerful modern opponent Kashimo fights in Tokyo No. 2 Colony. Kashimo attempts to poison him with chlorine gas, but Hakari’s Reverse Cursed Technique makes the plan ineffective. 110
  • Kasumi Miwa — A training opponent whose growth Kashimo tests harshly. He initially considers her unworthy, but recognizes her courage and later faces Jie Jian through Miwa’s possessed body. 184 186 188
