Background

Obito was once a cheerful but underachieving Uchiha who dreamed of becoming Hokage. His life changed after he witnessed Rin Nohara die at Kakashi’s hands during the Battle of Kannabi Bridge; he thereafter embraced a world-destroying path centered on creating a reality in which Rin could live. 348

He survived Kannabi Bridge with severe facial injuries and an empty left eye socket. His body was later reconstructed with White Zetsu cells, granting abnormal vitality and eventually enabling him to endure the Rinnegan and Ten-Tails chakra. 184 226

His central motivation is Rin. He repeatedly frames every escalation—from acquiring the Rinnegan to becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki—as a means of creating a world where she can exist.
