Background / History

Sasuke was the Uchiha Clan’s surviving orphan after Itachi slaughtered their clan and killed their parents. Once the top student of his year, he became consumed by the need to restore the Uchiha Clan and kill Itachi. Naruto’s sudden rise from “dead last” to an opponent Sasuke could not challenge shattered his pride and intensified his fear that he would never be able to avenge his family. 5 7

Following the massacre, Sasuke lived alone under Konoha’s nominal care. Villagers and classmates treated him as dangerous because of his clan, while Root surveilled him for his Sharingan; his academic and ninja talent only drew further suspicion rather than support. 342

His early career placed him on Team 7, where he immediately mastered Kakashi’s tree-climbing and water-walking exercises. After Orochimaru branded him with a Cursed Seal, Sasuke attacked despite being injured and humiliated, beginning a long pursuit of greater power. 14 20 21

Sasuke later trained in Orochimaru’s underground base, assembled the Hawk Squad, and sought revenge against Killer B after an earlier defeat.
