A investigated the Lord Third’s death after losing Cloud spies in Konoha. Their final report warned him that a new “Yellow Flash” had appeared there 55. As the Empire of Heaven emerged, he attended an early Five Kage Summit and pressed the other leaders for a direct plan of action 56.

After Akatsuki rejected a bounty-hunting mission, the daimyos of the Lands of Lightning and Earth were assassinated, and A and Ōnoki were framed for the killings 58. Evidence at the Lightning daimyo’s mansion included powerful Lightning Release damage that made Kakashi suspect A, although Neji detected more than one lightning chakra signature 62.

Following heavy Cloud losses, Ōnoki persuaded A to exploit Naruto’s severe injuries and attack the Empire of Heaven 76 82. They led more than 500 elite ninja across its border at night 83. During the assault, A held Zabuza in combat, preventing him from reaching Haku 85.

Naruto later targeted A’s exceptional vitality. He used A to perform the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, which drained A’s remaining life force and left his body shriveled 87 88.

A has a muscular build and substantial physical vitality; Naruto specifically judged both to be greater than Ōnoki’s 87.

Personality

A is blunt and quick-tempered. He demands direct answers at the Five Kage Summit, damages furniture when Akatsuki refuses the leaders’ mission, and reacts angrily when Ōnoki insults Killer B 56 58 83. He is also wary of Ōnoki’s political motives, but agrees to cooperate when Cloud’s losses and Naruto’s apparent vulnerability make an attack seem necessary 82.
