Fierce Beasts

Fierce Beasts are exceptionally powerful Soul Beasts that have surpassed the hundred-thousand-year stage. They must endure a Great Heavenly Tribulation every additional hundred thousand years; survival extends their existence and allows them to absorb the tribulation’s Dao essence, gaining insight into the world’s profound truths. 446 767 828

• Fierce Beasts can assume human form after surpassing one hundred thousand years of cultivation. 738
• Their intelligence is comparable to that of experienced elderly humans. 744
• Their cultivation age represents the growth of their power and body, not necessarily their literal lifespan. 767
• Soul Beasts can form Soul Cores only in the brow and chest; Di Tian’s Yin-Yang Complementary Dual Soul Cores are an exceptional case. 446 760

Biology & Intelligence

Soul Beasts are animals or plants that possess Soul Power. Once Soul Power emerges within an ordinary creature, it continuously draws Heavenly Origin Power into its body and gradually raises its cultivation. 923

• They cultivate by absorbing the essence of the sun, moon, and ambient Soul Power, often requiring fortuitous encounters such as Immortal Herbs to progress. 488
• Their bodies are generally far stronger than those of human Spirit Masters at the same level, allowing them to withstand soul skills that would overwhelm humans. 933
• A Soul Beast’s physical size is broadly proportional to its strength. 760
• Many high-level Soul Beasts can communicate, form families, protect offspring, establish territories, and organize into clans or armies. 744 948
• Some Soul Beasts accelerate their cultivation by devouring human Spirit Masters, whose flesh and Soul Power are richer than those of ordinary prey. 488 935

Human Transformation

Hundred-thousand-year Soul Beasts have two principal paths:

1. Rebuild as humans — They take human form and accept a human lifespan while pursuing godhood through human cultivation.
2. Become Fierce Beasts — They remain Soul Beasts, endure Heavenly Tribulations, and continue cultivating beyond the hundred-thousand-year threshold. 446

Territorial Behavior

Soul Beast society operates according to survival of the fittest. Injury is especially dangerous because healing abilities are scarce; a wounded beast becomes weak, and weakness invites death. 930

• Powerful Soul Beasts claim and defend territories containing food, resources, and breeding grounds. 1003
• Displaced Soul Beasts may fight resident beasts for territory even while fleeing a larger threat. 1003
• Thousand-year and stronger Soul Beasts can form emotional bonds, including friendship and family attachments. 948
• A beast tide may occur when large numbers of Soul Beasts flee, migrate, or assault under pressure from a greater threat. 121

Relationship with Spirit Masters

Spirit Masters traditionally hunt Soul Beasts to acquire Soul Rings. After death, a Soul Beast produces a ring whose color and potential correspond to its cultivation; a suitable attribute match is important for obtaining a powerful soul skill. 13

• Absorbing a ring beyond one’s physical endurance can cause the Spirit Master’s body to explode. 13
• Soul Beast resentment makes ring absorption painful for the hunter. 13
• Soul Bones may be obtained from Soul Beasts, with hundred-thousand-year beasts guaranteed to leave one. 446
• Humans have begun breeding low-level Soul Beasts such as Chattering Birds, foreshadowing the replacement of hunted beasts with artificial Soul Rings. 702
