When Yang Ming eventually asked about his father, Old Jack claimed that Yang Ming’s injured father had arrived during a storm with Tang Hao, left the newborn behind after recovering, and likely came from outside the Heaven Dou Empire 54. His later revelation as the Creator God casts doubt on how much of this account was truthful.

As chief of Holy Soul Village, Old Jack appeared to hope the village could once again produce a great Spirit Master after its long decline. He therefore imposed a strict basic training routine on Yang Ming from childhood, maintained his simple lifestyle, and secretly supplemented his meals with red fruits that greatly increased his strength 1 4 5 22. These fruits were later identified as Vermilion Fruits whose lingering poisonous influence remained in Yang Ming’s body, suggesting that Old Jack’s early “special treatment” was part of a larger hidden design 1014 1094.

Yang Ming’s awakening of the Mysterious Sword Martial Soul and Innate Full Soul Power fulfilled Old Jack’s stated hopes for both his grandson and the village. He celebrated lavishly, began arranging an additional academy placement for Yang Ming and Tang San, and escorted them toward Notting City himself 12 13 14.

After Holy Soul Village was destroyed, Old Jack survived a grave abdominal wound through Yang Ming’s healing music. He understands the harsh hierarchy of the Spirit Master world better than Yang Ming initially does. When Yang Ming clashes with Cao Mengyun, Old Jack urges caution and considers apologizing—not because he believes Yang Ming was wrong, but because he fears a Great Spirit Master’s power could harm both Yang Ming and Holy Soul Village 10.

His red fruits increase Yang Ming’s strength to at least an adult level before the awakening ceremony, though Old Jack refuses to explain their origin 4. Their later identification as Vermilion Fruits with a lingering poisonous effect reveals that this early care also served his secret agenda 1014 1094.

Martial Soul Awakening

He anxiously attends the awakening ceremony, fears Cao Mengyun may retaliate against Yang Ming, and becomes overwhelmed with pride when Yang Ming awakens Innate Full Soul Power 10 12. Old Jack then celebrates at home and begins planning Yang Ming’s academy future 13.

Journey to Notting City

Old Jack personally brings Yang Ming and Tang San to Notting City. When bandits stop their carriage and threaten to sell the boys, he offers them money and is prepared to sacrifice his dignity to save them 15. He witnesses Yang Ming slaughter the bandits, leaving him shocked by the extent of his grandson’s strength 16.

Afterward, he postpones the journey to care for Yang Ming, provides him with clean clothes and food, explains the Spirit Master academy system, and urges Yang Ming and Tang San to remain humble and protect one another 18.

Spirit Hall Conflict

After Cao Mengyun corrupts Yang Ming’s certificate and prevents his academy enrollment, Old Jack accompanies Yang Ming to Spirit Hall. He pleads with Cao for mercy and suffers a lower-back injury when Cao throws him aside 20 22. During Cao’s later battle with Yang Ming, Cao attempts to take Old Jack hostage, prompting Tang San and Yang Ming to protect him 25.

Academy Enrollment

Following Yang Ming’s victory over Cao Mengyun, Old Jack receives medical treatment for his injury and is able to return home with funds Yang Ming leaves for his care and living expenses 26 27.

Destruction of Holy Soul Village

When the Black Water Mercenary Group attacks Holy Soul Village, Yang Ming returns to find Old Jack’s house burning and Old Jack severely wounded by an abdominal stab wound 56 57. Old Jack’s final concern is Yang Ming’s safety; he urges Yang Ming to flee and calls him his pride before apparently dying 57.

Yang Ming uses Cai Wenji’s Song of Forgetfulness to heal the fatal injuries and restore Old Jack’s breathing, while Tang San and Xiao Wu defend the house against the approaching mercenaries 57 58. Old Jack later leaves the destroyed village with Yang Ming, Tang San, and Xiao Wu, eventually receiving Spirit Hall support in Notting City 63 64.

Later Life and Apparent Death

Old Jack continues living under Yang Ming’s protection after the village’s destruction. He works for Spirit Hall, later resides in Heaven Dou City, and eventually enjoys a comfortable life at the Sky-Blasting Gang headquarters, where he continues cooking Yang Ming’s favorite meals 146 213 776.

He is publicly reported to have died of illness three days before Yang Ming’s return from overseas. Yang Ming’s Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan confirms that the corpse in his grave suffered from cancer, a disease local healing-type Spirit Masters could neither diagnose nor cure 1019 1020.

Creator God Revelation

Five years later, Old Jack appears at his own grave and confirms that he is the Creator God. Yang Ming realizes that Old Jack’s survival during Holy Soul Village’s destruction, his unexplained Vermilion Fruit, and his apparent death were all connected to a long-standing scheme 1094.

Old Jack reveals that he has repeatedly brought transmigrators to Holy Soul Village, nurtured their extraordinary abilities, and harvested them after they reach sufficient power. He admits that Yang Ming was intended to meet the same fate 1095.

Final Confrontation

Old Jack easily overwhelms Yang Ming’s Divine King-level attacks, repeatedly kills him, and seals his remains with the Three Thousand Rules and elemental chains. Yang Ming survives only through the Demon-Summoning Scripture and the bodies of more than ten thousand disciples, whom Old Jack relentlessly pursues and kills 1095 1096.

Tang San’s final sacrifice gives Yang Ming Douluo Star’s Plane Lord authority, exposing the weakness in Old Jack’s dominion over his own world 1096. Yang Ming then obtains the Primordial Mist Pearl, uses it to sever Old Jack’s connection to the world, and destroys him. Because Old Jack’s parallel incarnations are linked, the Creator God’s death spreads across countless timelines 1096.
