Central Authority

• Pope — The Pope leads the Papal Hall and publicly represents Spirit Hall's political and religious authority. Bibi Dong uses the office to direct recruitment, intelligence operations, assassination attempts, tournament policy, and later the Spirit Hall Empire's war effort. 433 451 563 966

Duties and Authority

• Martial Soul awakenings — Spirit Hall maintains local branches across the continent to conduct yearly awakenings for children. Holy Soul Village's branch is only a larger wooden house, while the ceremony there is administered by Patrol Deacons. 10 11
• Certification and registration — Its certificates verify a person's awakened Martial Soul and innate soul power for academy enrollment. Its rank badges identify registered Spirit Masters, and registered Spirit Masters may receive state subsidies. 20 29 48
• Advancement appraisals — The Notting City branch operates a Martial Soul Laboratory for summoning Martial Souls, displaying Soul Rings, and measuring advancement. 46 47

Facilities and Insignia

Notting City Branch Hall

Notting City's Spirit Hall is the city's tallest building, surpassing even the City Lord's residence in grandeur. Its main hall has a twenty-meter-high dome, crystal windows, towering pillars, and golden murals depicting different Martial Souls. 20 21

• The first floor includes a reception hall where rank assessments can be arranged. 20
• The second floor contains offices and the Martial Soul Laboratory. 46 47
• The laboratory has five black stones set into its walls and a floor emblem resembling a token with a downward-pointing sword. 47

Soto City Spirit Hall Main Temple

Soto City's Main Temple is a dark bluish-black domed structure guarded by spear-bearing Soul Grandmasters. Its entrance insignia depicts a crossed longsword and warhammer pierced by a spear, while its murals prominently feature the Six-Winged Angel. 95

The Main Temple was destroyed during the assassination of Bishop Beska, creating a continent-wide scandal and damaging Spirit Hall's reputation. 158

Martial Soul Saint Hall

Heaven Dou City's Martial Soul Saint Hall is among Spirit Hall's highest institutions. Its halls preserve portraits and names of personnel who made major contributions to Spirit Hall, including ordinary branch members as well as past Popes, as a means of cultivating institutional loyalty. 339

The Saint Hall contains specially prepared basement chambers and secret rooms incorporating black stones, token-shaped floor emblems, and Soul Tools capable of supporting large-scale dream manipulation. 340 349

Spirit City

Spirit City is Spirit Hall's sacred headquarters and later the capital of the Spirit Hall Empire. It has a hexagonal layout, massive fortified walls, a predominantly Spirit Master population, specialized Soul Tool commerce, and extensive military defenses. 416 966

• Every guard stationed on the city's six walls is at least a level 10 Spirit Master. The walls bear enormous symbols of the crown, chrysanthemum, ghost, dragon, sword, and hammer Martial Souls. 416
• Papal Hall stands halfway up Spirit City's central hill. It is the Pope's residence and contains the Elder Hall, its council chamber, and the political center of the organization. 416 966
• Douluo Hall stands above Papal Hall and serves as the resting place of deceased Titled Douluo. It holds greater ceremonial sanctity than Papal Hall; even the Pope must worship there during major ceremonies and cannot enter it while alive. 416
• By the Spirit Hall Empire era, Spirit City is divided into the Papal Hall district, the Spirit Hall district for branch personnel, and an outer commercial and residential city. 966

Uniforms and Badges

• Personnel directly affiliated with Spirit Hall wear fitted white clothing, black cloaks, and a chest emblem bearing the character for “Spirit.” 8
• A badge with three crossed longswords identifies a third-rank Great Spirit Master-level Battle Spirit Master. 8
• Yang Ming's Spirit Master badge bears his name on the reverse and two interwoven thorns on its face. 48

Documented Conduct and Internal Conflict

Cao Mengyun's Abuse of Authority

Patrol Deacon Cao Mengyun nearly tramples a pregnant villager while riding through Holy Soul Village, then refuses to apologize. He treats the villagers with open contempt and attacks Yang Ming when challenged. 8 9

After Yang Ming awakens the Mysterious Sword and demonstrates Innate Full Soul Power, Cao fears future retaliation. He hires bandits to intercept Yang Ming's journey and alters Yang Ming's Spirit Hall certificate to obstruct his admission to Notting Academy. 20 21

Cao then uses his influence and payments to persuade Notting City branch personnel not to issue Yang Ming a replacement certificate. Ma Xiunuo initially complies with this pressure despite being aware of Cao's conduct. 21

Yang Ming's Confrontation

Yang Ming, Tang San, Old Jack, and Master bring the forged certificate to the Notting City branch. Cao publicly denies responsibility, while the branch initially refuses to process Yang Ming's assessment. 20 21

When Cao injures Old Jack and attempts to prevent Yang Ming's advancement, Yang Ming reveals his Dual Martial Souls and battles the level 29 Great Spirit Master inside Spirit Hall. Yang Ming's combat ability forces Ma Xiunuo and other staff to recognize his exceptional talent. 22 23 24

Following Cao's defeat, Ma Xiunuo issues Yang Ming a new certificate, apologizes on behalf of the Notting City branch, promises an investigation, and states that Cao will receive a major demerit. Yang Ming instead prioritizes an apology to the pregnant villager Cao endangered. 26

Recruitment and Coercion

When Yang Ming later returns for an advancement appraisal, Ma Xiunuo treats him warmly and attempts to repair his impression of Spirit Hall. His first Soul Ring is revealed to be a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Ring, drawing Bishop Beska's immediate interest. 46 47

Beska personally invites Yang Ming to become an exclusive Spirit Master, presenting Su Yuntao's dismissal notice as compensation and offering substantial financial and educational benefits. Yang Ming refuses, wishing to remain independent. 48

Spirit Hall later uses Tang San's medical condition as leverage: Doctor Xiao offers treatment only if Yang Ming joins Soto City's Main Temple. Yang Ming again refuses, and ultimately heals Tang San himself. 49 50

Beska subsequently arranges the destruction of Holy Soul Village as the first step of a plan to isolate Yang Ming, force academies to reject him, and leave Spirit Hall as his sole apparent avenue for advancement. The Black Water Mercenary Group is intended to serve as a scapegoat, with evidence meant to redirect suspicion toward the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 63

After Yang Ming joins Shrek Academy instead, Beska attempts to exploit the Suotuo Great Soul Arena as a venue for an indirect assassination. 95

Assassinations, Manipulation, and Reprisals

Spirit Hall's hostility toward Yang Ming expands beyond Beska's private schemes. A suspected Spirit Hall operative is linked to the Star Dou Great Forest beast tide, though the prisoner's Spirit Hall uniform alone does not constitute conclusive evidence. 128

Platinum Bishop Salas imprisons Yang Ming in the Heaven Dou Martial Soul Saint Hall and attempts to assassinate him. Prevented by Sword Douluo Chen Xin's protection, Salas instead uses over one hundred specialized Spirit Masters and a shared Dream World to probe Yang Ming's memories, record his abilities, and uncover his secrets. 340 341

Salas later forces Temple Knight Duncan to test a replicated Eight Gates Released Formation in exchange for promotion. Duncan dies when he forcibly opens the Fourth Gate, demonstrating Salas's willingness to expend subordinates for experimental power. 343

Yang Ming ultimately seizes control of the Dream World and destroys the Spirit Masters maintaining it, causing widespread death, mental collapse, and Salas's irreversible mental ruin. 346 348

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Bibi Dong orders Spirit Hall Academy to exhaust and kill Yang Ming under cover of the matches. Spirit Hall also surrounds the competitors' hotel and later exploits Xiao Wu's identity as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast to turn other factions against her. 437 447 449

Institutional Schism and Imperial Expansion

The Papal Hall and Elder Hall possess distinct chains of authority. Bibi Dong controls external policy through the Papal Hall, while Qian Daoliu's Elder Hall Consecrated can ignore papal commands and answer only to their Grand Consecration. 477 478

After the Sky-Blasting Gang systematically attacks Spirit Hall branches across the Heaven Dou Empire, Spirit Hall convenes an emergency summit. Caesar proposes the Emperor-Slaying Operation to assassinate Emperor Xue Ye and create chaos that would enable the establishment of a Spirit Hall Empire. 563

Spirit Hall subsequently launches the Prestige-Establishing Operation against the Clear Sky Sect. Qian Daoliu personally leads the attack, orders the execution of resisting villagers and captives, and advances on the sect with Elder Hall Consecrated. 564 580

Following the loss of much of its Heaven Dou influence, Spirit Hall uses two Star Luo kingdoms' secession to proclaim the Spirit Hall Empire. It rapidly annexes approximately one-third of Star Luo territory before military pressure and Yang Ming's strength limit further expansion. 590

The empire later adopts an increasingly coercive policy toward neutral powers, rewarding submission and punishing resistance, including public violence against the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. 620

Later Alliances and Continuing War

After Qian Daoliu's death, Spirit Hall suffers a decline in manpower as many members leave to protect their families. Bibi Dong responds by promoting capable and loyal personnel regardless of background, including Su Yuntao. 869

Bibi Dong receives Bo Saixi and Sea God Hall's Pillar Guardians in Spirit City, establishing an important alliance while rebuilding Spirit Hall's position against Yang Ming and the Sky-Blasting Gang. 869 870

By the later war, Spirit Hall relies on intelligence from Tang San and Liu Erlong within the Sky-Blasting Gang. Bibi Dong secretly reaches level 100 and godhood, but withholds this fact while considering a final offensive against the Imperial Allied Forces and Heaven Dou City. 966

• Cao Mengyun — Notting City Patrol Deacon and level 29 Great Spirit Master-level Battle Spirit Master. He forges Yang Ming's certificate, pressures branch staff, and is defeated by Yang Ming. 8 21 24 26
