Background

Yang Ming transmigrated from Earth to Douluo Continent as an infant. He became the adopted grandson of Holy Soul Village chief Old Jack, who treated him as family and imposed a strict, frugal upbringing. Yang Ming insisted on using his current name rather than the one Old Jack initially gave him. 1

Before awakening a Martial Soul, Yang Ming trained daily despite knowing ordinary exercise was inefficient in a world of Spirit Masters. His resolve to become strong came from his awareness that ordinary people could be killed as collateral damage by powerful fighters. 1 He and Tang San, born only three seconds apart, grew up training together and developed a teasing, sibling-like rivalry. 1

After speaking a line associated with Han Xin, Yang Ming activated the Meme-Making Lottery System. Yang Ming awakened the Mysterious Sword Martial Soul and Innate Full Soul Power during Holy Soul Village's awakening ceremony. His conflict with Spirit Hall Patrol Deacon Cao Mengyun escalated after Cao nearly harmed a pregnant villager, tampered with Yang Ming's certificate, and attempted to block his future as a Spirit Master. 9 12 21

At Spirit Hall, Yang Ming used a system draw to complete his second Martial Soul: the Green Lotus Earth-Core Flame. Though only a Soul Scholar, he fought and defeated the level-29 Great Spirit Master Cao Mengyun, stopping only after exhausting his soul power. While traveling toward Spirit Hunting Forest, Yang Ming fought bandits and killed those who pursued him and his companions. Later, after finding Tang San severely injured by Li Ren and Wang Zhong, Yang Ming confronted the attackers.
