Background / History
Fabricated origin and first recruitment
Yang Ming first presented the Sky-Blasting Gang to Tang Hao, Flender, and Zhao Wuji as an ancient, hidden power led by himself. Its reputation was built through black robes, Demon Masks, Feng Baobao’s unconventional strength, Yu Jin’s mysterious presence, and Yang Ming’s theatrical declarations 93 236.
The organization had no verifiable history on the continent when Tang Hao investigated it. Its initial promise of a revolutionary Qi cultivation method was also a bluff: Yang Ming did not actually possess such a method at the time 94 129. He claimed that the gang existed to spread Qi, make “all living beings equal,” and allow everyone to pursue immortality, persuading Tang Hao to join under the codename Three 129 130.
The original list of ten senior codenames—used to convince Tang Hao that he ranked near the bottom of a vast hierarchy—was fabricated by Yang Ming as part of the deception 130.
Establishment of the headquarters
With Snow Star Prince’s political assistance, Yang Ming acquired several hundred acres of land and activated the Exploding Heavens Gang Founding Token. The token instantaneously created a fortified headquarters with four major halls, internal infrastructure, and specialized facilities 236.
The headquarters marked the gang’s transition from a secretive bluff into a permanent organization with a physical base, personnel, recruitment plans, and political objectives 236 237.
Emergence as a major power
The gang publicly demonstrated its destructive capability when Yang Ming used the Dora Cannon to destroy Suotuo City’s Spirit Hall Main Temple from long range 131 132. It later began systematically striking Spirit Hall branches across the Heaven Dou Empire while coordinating with the imperial government 534 563.
Its alliance with the Heaven Dou Empire combined the gang’s military power, Snow Star Prince’s newspapers and political influence, and Royal Knight deployments. This campaign eroded Spirit Hall’s local control, enabled purges of disloyal officials, and damaged Spirit Hall’s public standing 563.
Expansion and absorption
The Clear Sky Sect formally merged into the Sky-Blasting Gang after Tang Xiao publicly submitted to Yang Ming 595. The Strength, Defense, Breaking, and Speed Clans were subsequently absorbed as well, despite resistance to losing their independent identities 597 602.
The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect later joined through Ning Rongrong’s connection to Yang Ming; its disciples became the core of the Black Tortoise Hall’s logistics network 822.
By the time of the continent-wide crises, the gang had expanded to roughly two million members across the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires 733.

Headquarters
The original headquarters was created from the Exploding Heavens Gang Founding Token, which could establish a main base containing the Four Halls, secret passages, an academy, pharmacy, Hundred Herbs Valley, residential areas, and replaceable structures 236.
- Granite perimeter walls originally exceeded one hundred meters in height 236.
- The complex uses Huaxia-inspired architecture, bluestone roads, lamps, gardens, halls, waterways, and extensive defensive facilities 236 488 985.
- Its later Heaven Dou City compound expanded to thousands of acres and rivaled the neighboring imperial palace in scale 872.
- The Azure Dragon Hall contains the gang’s primary meeting spaces, including a council chamber and study 488.
- Its dungeon uses Millennium Cold Iron cells and suppressive runes that hinder Soul Power absorption 780.
- Guards at the headquarters can include Soul Saints, reflecting the gang’s elevated security standards 911.
Recruitment, Education, and Rewards
Qi cultivation and academies
The gang promotes Qi cultivation as an alternative path for people disadvantaged by weak Martial Souls or low innate Soul Power. It established free academies, provided education and Qi techniques, and gave many commoners a path toward advancement 469 733 806.
Its schools provide education, food, lodging, and cultivation instruction, but students may be bound by indenture contracts that make them gang members 892.
- Nine years of compulsory education are offered through gang academies 806.
- Recruitment initially focused on commoner orphans, who were intended to learn Qi, maintain the headquarters, and develop loyalty to the organization 237.
- Yang Ming later selected exceptional practitioners of the Demon-Summoning Scripture as personal disciples 892.
- Disciples compete monthly and semiannually; low performers can lose their discipleship status 900.

Resources and Military Assets
- Dora Cannon — A massive artillery weapon summoned and operated by Yang Ming; it destroyed Suotuo City’s Spirit Hall Main Temple from approximately forty-seven kilometers away 131 132.
- Italian Cannon — Used against concentrated Spirit Hall forces; its shells carried the force of a full-strength level-sixty Spirit Emperor attack 462.
- Godly Zhuge Crossbows — Mass-produced by the gang’s industrial network and issued to members for warfare against Soul Beasts and conventional forces 654 739.
- Blacksmith production network — The gang recruited the Blacksmith Association into Black Tortoise Hall and built a complete supply chain covering resources, processing, manufacturing, and transport 650 654.
- Great Wall of Star Dou — Constructed jointly with the Heaven Dou Empire around the Star Dou Great Forest, with Yang Ming’s Infinity Gauntlet enabling its rapid completion 737.
Political and Military Role
The Sky-Blasting Gang’s campaign against Spirit Hall developed from isolated attacks into a political war. While senior members destroyed branch halls and confronted Titled Douluo, trained Qi practitioners served as intelligence agents throughout the Heaven Dou Empire 534.
In cooperation with the Heaven Dou Empire, the gang supplied force while Snow Star Prince’s newspapers shaped public opinion and the Royal Knights took over local security 563. This strategy helped expel Spirit Hall from much of Heaven Dou territory and transformed the gang into the empire’s dominant force 592 602.
After an attack connected to Yang Ming, the gang formally declared war on the Spirit Hall Empire. Its senior members struck several frontline cities simultaneously, using desertification, Vampire forces, bat swarms, and direct assaults to impose retaliation 664.
Tang Chen and Tang Hao later led the Imperial Allied Forces in the capture of Jialing Pass and Spirit City, contributing to the continent’s unification 1019.
Ideology and Reputation
The gang’s stated mission is to spread Qi cultivation, eliminate inherited limits on advancement, and create a world in which “all living beings are equal” and everyone can seek immortality 129.
Its public reputation, however, was forged as much through intimidation and secrecy as through social reform. Early observers imagined a vast hidden organization because Yang Ming deliberately allowed them to fill gaps in its history and membership 94 130. Later, its free education, employment opportunities, and higher wages earned broad popular support among commoners, while displaced nobles and declining sects became hostile to its rise 806 962.
