They were all kobolds.

Shen He opened his Summoning System. It was still extremely simple; aside from the "Dungeon" heading, the instance center interface contained only a one-hour countdown.

"We have to fight here for an hour."

Shen He slowly extended his hand, and a pistol with a pitch-black base and mysterious azure runes carved across its surface appeared in his grasp.

Weapon: Dominator.

From: Psycho-Pass.

Evaluation: A flashy-looking weapon that was actually useless for showing off.

It was still somewhat useful, at least it had unlimited ammunition. Of the high-tier lottery rewards he had just drawn, this was the only one that looked like a ranged weapon.

"They're here!"

Shen He shouted and raised his pistol dramatically.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

All three shots missed...

"You can just watch from the side. Leave the fighting to me."

Saiki Kusuo took a step forward to block Shen He, then kicked three kobolds away.

Yet the faint smile at the corner of his mouth was impossible to hide.

"Wow, you actually smiled! The legendary 'Saiki's Smile' just appeared like that!"

Shen He made exaggerated gestures and expressions...

...to conceal his embarrassment.

He had never even touched a gun during military training back in college. It looked simple, but it was surprisingly difficult to use.

Still...

"Thank you." Shen He raised his pistol again. "Thank you for helping me. Of course, I need to work hard too."

Those were his true feelings at that moment. If Saiki had not been there, or if Saiki had refused his summons, it was easy to imagine how difficult it would have been for him to face an instance like this.

Saiki Kusuo did not reply, but the smile on his lips did not fade either.

He did not dislike this feeling.

Upgrading and an Ambush

Running instances, especially low-difficulty ones in the early stages...

With a powerful teammate, one could basically clear them while lying down.

That was exactly how Shen He felt now.

The kobolds before him stared with innocent wide eyes, floating one after another in midair. Shen He raised his pistol and continuously practiced shooting under Saiki Kusuo's guidance.

The reason it was so easy was simple: Saiki Kusuo had removed the psychic power suppressor from his head.

"The monsters are respawning too slowly. Can't we go to a higher-level instance?"
