"Staged it himself, huh."

Fury gave a cold laugh and tossed a document onto the desk. "We used truth serum on the Hydra agent they captured. Guess what we found out? That agent was an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. operative! And a Level Five agent! Are the people responsible for our vetting complete trash? Or did we start allowing agents to work side jobs and collect two paychecks!?"

Coulson picked up the interrogation report, flipped through it twice, and could not help drawing a sharp breath.

"This is... an absolute disaster."

The interrogation report stated that this Hydra agent had been trained at a Hydra base since childhood, then recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent.

That clearly conflicted severely with his S.H.I.E.L.D. service record.

There were only two possibilities. Either Hydra had covered up the falsified record so well that it had even deceived S.H.I.E.L.D.'s investigation.
