The Destroyer threw a punch, and Apocalypse fearlessly met it with one of his own.
Boom!!
A visible ring of white ultrasonic shockwaves burst outward.
Sif, who was closest, hurriedly planted her sword into the ground and dropped to one knee, bracing herself against the shockwave.
Even so, she could not stop herself from sliding backward. She only managed to halt after being pushed more than thirty meters away.
Every pane of glass in the town shattered wherever the ultrasonic shockwave passed. Not a single one remained intact!
Sif, Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg, and the others exchanged looks, their eyes filled with shock.
So this was that Earthling's true strength?!
During his fight with us, he had not used his full strength at all.
If he had gone all out from the beginning, the four of us would not have been able to withstand even a single move.
The fact that he had dragged the fight out for so long made it seem more like he had been toying with us.
Thinking of that, Sif remembered the finger Apocalypse had used to touch her face, and her feelings became somewhat complicated.
"Hahaha! As expected of something made by Asgard. It can really take a beating."
Apocalypse's fighting spirit surged, and he attacked without restraint.
Ever since gaining three times the Hulk's strength, he had never truly fought at full power.
When he fought Abomination and Hulk, he had faced two opponents alone, but they had been too weak. Without even using his full strength, he had beaten them both flat.
Now that he had encountered an opponent strong enough to fight him without worrying about killing it, he could finally let loose.
His blood surged and boiled with excitement, and a faint gurgling sound could be heard throughout his body.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Every punch carried three times the Hulk's strength, and every punch unleashed a ring of ultrasonic waves.
With each strike, the area around them was nearly beaten into a vacuum before the surrounding air rushed back in to fill it.
The violent turbulence made the battlefield resemble a Category 12 sandstorm.
Dust and broken stones around them swelled and contracted rhythmically with the explosions.
The flying rubble was more dangerous than bullets, punching straight through walls and billboards.
From time to time, enormous flames erupted from the Destroyer within the battle zone. Buildings collapsed, and debris flew everywhere.
Sif and the others had wanted to join the fight, only to realize that they could not even get close.
After taking just two steps, they were shoved back by the aftershocks of the battle. On top of that, they had to defend against flying rubble and the Destroyer's flames.
Fandral said, "Sif, fall back. We can't help with a battle at this level. Everyone, go protect Thor."
"Okay!"
The four quickly regrouped with Thor.
On Apocalypse's side, he had exchanged countless blows with the Destroyer. He found that although he could knock it down, he could not break it apart no matter what he did.
This dark metal did not seem particularly hard. Even Sif could stab through it, yet it restored itself completely in an instant, without leaving so much as a mark.
No wonder it was the guardian of Asgard's treasure vault. It truly was extraordinary.
As for the flames spewing from the Destroyer's face, although they were powerful, Apocalypse was not afraid of them.
The warning signs were simply too obvious. Before it fired, its entire body glowed red from within the metal rings. Even a blind man would know it was about to unleash a big move.
It might work against ordinary warriors, but against someone like Apocalypse, who could burst into supersonic speed at any moment, it was not very effective.
It seemed that if he wanted to completely destroy the Destroyer, physical attacks would not work. He could only rely on divine power, magic, or similar methods.
Sif's simple thrust earlier had temporarily extinguished the Destroyer's flames. It seemed divine power had been effective.
The problem was that Apocalypse did not know any of that.
Sif and the others possessed divine power, but they were too weak. They could not even enter the battle zone, much less help him.
In the original story, Thor had sacrificed himself, awakened his divine power, and finally used the power of Mjolnir to destroy the Destroyer.
Faced with the current stalemate, Apocalypse inexplicably thought of Captain America's... pfft... Captain America's classic line:
"I can do this all day!"
Far away in Asgard, Loki watched the scene through the Rainbow Bridge passage and tightened his grip slightly around the great sword that guarded the Rainbow Bridge.
When did Earth get a monster like this?!
And he was even helping Thor, Sif, and the others.
If this man was not eliminated, it would only cause Loki more trouble when he came to Asgard in the future.
Loki gave a wicked smile. If one was not enough, then he would send two!
Dark clouds suddenly gathered over the town. The sky split open, and the scene from when the Destroyer had descended appeared once more!
A second Destroyer descended!
Unlike the first Destroyer, which had wreaked havoc everywhere, the second one charged straight at Apocalypse the moment it appeared.
From dozens of meters away, it fired a jet of flame.
Apocalypse was just about to dodge when the Destroyer before him suddenly brought its massive hands together around him.
Two hands were not enough. The Destroyer's feet shifted and transformed into two more hands.
Those bizarre four hands forcibly trapped Apocalypse in place.
Apocalypse was secretly startled. These two Destroyers could coordinate their attacks?
Before the second Destroyer arrived, the first one had only ever fought him head-on. It had never used such a strange move.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! With four consecutive heavy punches, Apocalypse blasted apart the four giant hands.
But that brief delay was enough for the Destroyer's flames to arrive!
The enormous pillar of fire instantly swallowed Apocalypse!
Thor shouted anxiously from afar, "Tang, get out of the way..."
But it was not over yet.
The first Destroyer fired flames as well. The two streams of fire pinned Apocalypse in place from both sides.
Where the flames converged, a fireball formed and grew larger and larger until it finally reached its limit.
Boom!
The fireball exploded, and flames swept across a radius of a thousand meters like ocean waves. Wood turned into charcoal wherever they passed, steel glowed red from the heat, and the entire town was instantly reduced to a sea of fire.
Fortunately, Apocalypse had bought enough time for the crowd to evacuate. Otherwise, no one knew how many civilians would have been killed or injured by that attack.
Along with the blast, a charred "corpse" was thrown out. It was Apocalypse.
By pure coincidence, Apocalypse's "corpse" rolled along several rather strange trajectories and landed right in front of Thor.
Fortunately, no one had the mind to consider whether the corpse's trajectory followed the laws of physics.
At last, Thor, the man of iron, could no longer hold back. He fell to the ground, tears streaming down onto Apocalypse's "corpse," and said, "I'm sorry... Tang... my friend. This is all because of me! My arrival brought disaster to all of you..."
After crying for a while, Thor stood and said to Sif, "Go! You must return to Asgard alive and stop Loki."
"What about you?"
Thor's expression suddenly became calm. "Don't worry, everyone. I have a plan."
With that, he walked toward the two Destroyers with a tragic expression.
On Apocalypse's charred "corpse," one eye quietly opened. Seeing Thor walk forward, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
The plot had finally returned to its proper course!
When the second Destroyer had descended, Apocalypse had not been sure whether he could defeat them, but he could certainly have escaped.
But it had also served as a warning to him!
Wasn't there supposed to be only one Destroyer?
The Destroyer was said to be the ultimate armor Odin had secretly forged to fight the Celestials.
The Cosmic Dwarves had forged it from Uru Metal. It was not only incomparably durable, but it could also be imbued with magic and enchantments.
Even Odin could not forge a second suit of such an ultimate weapon.
So where had this second Destroyer come from?
For the moment, Apocalypse could not figure it out. He could only wait until after the battle for a chance to ask Thor or Odin.
In the original story, Thor had stepped forward to save the townspeople, facing the Destroyer with the body of a mortal.
Honestly, for an Asgardian prince to sacrifice himself for ordinary people of Earth, that kind of spirit truly was full of compassion.
Apocalypse had only been focused on enjoying the fight and had not expected to create a butterfly effect. If this continued, he would miss the plot point where Thor awakened.
If Thor did not awaken, who knew what direction the butterfly effect would send the future in.
Since the second Destroyer had appeared, Apocalypse simply went with the flow and pretended to be killed because he was no match for them.
Afraid that the shock would not be enough, when his "corpse" was thrown out, he secretly used his fingers to push off the ground and bounce himself right in front of Thor.
A good friend who had once drunk heartily and fought freely with him had turned into a lump of charcoal and fallen right before his eyes.
The emotional impact was absolutely overwhelming!!!
Thor underwent his transformation on the spot.
No one had noticed Apocalypse's little scheme at first, but he could not resist opening one eye.
The charred outer layer cracked and fell away with a faint crunch.
Sif, who was attentive by nature, noticed the tiny sound. She casually glanced over and happened to meet Apocalypse's eye.
Immediately, two pairs of eyes met one eye, and the situation became a little awkward!
