Thor approached the two Destroyers, grief and fury in his heart.
The Destroyers stood motionless, watching Thor without attacking as they awaited orders from another world.
"Loki! I know you're watching me. Is this what you wanted? Slaughtering civilians and harming innocents—what does that do for you?"
"If you want to kill someone, kill me!"
"Otherwise, when I return to Asgard, I'll teach you a harsh lesson, little brother!"
The distant crowd scarcely dared to breathe, and the town fell silent.
Even Apocalypse, as monstrously powerful as he had been, had been killed by the two Destroyers. Seeing Thor step forward to provoke them, many people could not bear to watch. They spread their fingers wide and covered their eyes.
Suddenly, Destroyer No. 1 swept out a massive hand, and the tremendous force sent Thor flying high into the sky.
"Rumble..."
A bolt of lightning suddenly flashed, and Thor's body froze in midair!
Countless bolts of lightning appeared from nowhere, circling Thor's body and giving off a dazzling white light.
Thor—the God of Thunder—had awakened!
In the original story, Thor had been beaten into a false death. In the end, he moved Thor's Hammer and borrowed the power of lightning to awaken.
Now, however, Apocalypse's overwhelming provocation had awakened his divine power without any need for Thor's Hammer.
Thor, the God of Thunder, did not need a hammer to possess the power of lightning.
Watching Thor standing in the air, Jane's mouth hung open. "Oh... my God!"
The boyfriend she had always thought was dim-witted yet handsome was actually a god! Everything he had said had been true.
Daisy, Eric, and the others looked no better, standing there in stunned silence.
Thor spread his arms and made a grasping motion from afar.
Fifty kilometers away, Thor's Hammer shot into the sky, accelerating all the way. In an instant, it broke the sound barrier, dragging a long tail of supersonic shockwaves behind it before returning to Thor's hand with a bang.
At last, Thor's complete form had become whole again!
For a moment, the lightning intensified, so bright that the people on the ground could barely open their eyes.
The clouds in the sky shifted with the wind, slowly forming an enormous tornado vortex, with Thor standing at its center.
"I, Thor, son of Odin, represent Asgard in destroying you!"
Thor descended from the sky, carrying the crushing force of lightning as he charged straight at the Destroyers below.
In the original story, Thor had used this ultimate move to drive the power of lightning through the Destroyer in one blow, completely extinguishing its life.
But because of Apocalypse's butterfly effect, there were now two Destroyers, and the situation immediately changed.
Locked onto by Thor, the two Destroyers had nowhere to dodge. They suddenly collided with each other, the metal rings on their bodies spinning and layering together.
In the blink of an eye, they formed a taller, more powerful Fusion Destroyer!
The Fusion Destroyer raised both hands and met Thor's Hammer head-on!
"Boom..."
The tornado clouds trembled and nearly scattered.
Though the Fusion Destroyer was struck low, almost forced to its knees, it had not suffered a fatal wound. The metal rings spun continuously, and it recovered once more.
Thor was startled. He had not expected the Fusion Destroyer to be so powerful. He rose again and entered the tornado clouds.
For a time, lightning raged within the dark clouds, growing even brighter as the clouds expanded to cover the entire town.
The tornado grew larger and larger, like a dragon drawing in water, sucking sand and stones from the ground into the air.
The town, already smashed to pieces, now did not even have scraps left. Everything was sucked clean away.
The townspeople watching from afar did not know whether to mourn the loss of their homes or celebrate being able to witness a god in their lifetime.
This time, Thor descended from the sky again, carrying even more lightning!
The Fusion Destroyer looked up. Its face suddenly opened, and a stream of Destruction Flame three or four times stronger than before shot into the sky.
Thor neither dodged nor yielded. Man and hammer became one, like a sharp blade splitting the pillar of flame in two as he cleaved downward.
Just as Thor's Hammer was about to strike its body, the Fusion Destroyer suddenly split apart, turning one into two.
Thor's incomparably powerful hammer smashed down between the two Destroyers.
"Boom..."
A crater dozens of meters wide exploded into the ground. The tornado sucked all the dust into the clouds, and the sky immediately darkened further.
Though the two separated Destroyers were blasted away by the explosion, they successfully avoided that killing blow.
Taking advantage of the gap after Thor unleashed his ultimate move, they attacked from both sides, Destruction Flame and giant metal hands coming one after another.
For a time, Thor was kept busy defending himself, with no chance to gather power for another ultimate move.
Thor understood that his first two ultimate moves had failed to injure the fused Destroyer. Even if he used another, it would not accomplish much.
He could only rely on the hammer's strange abilities, flying up and down and attacking from all sides to keep the two Destroyers suppressed.
The Destroyers were not afraid of physical attacks. Even Apocalypse's strength, three times that of the Hulk, had failed to damage them, and Thor's Hammer could not do so either.
Often, one hammer blow would leave a Destroyer deeply dented, making it appear severely injured.
But after the metal rings on their bodies spun for a while, they returned to normal.
Only the power of lightning could slow or interrupt the Destroyers' flame attacks. Unfortunately, it was not powerful enough to completely destroy them.
The Destroyers fused and split apart at times, their methods of attack more than ten times more sophisticated than when they had fought Apocalypse individually.
Thor had more than enough agility, but not enough offensive power.
For a time, Thor and the two Destroyers were locked in a stalemate. Neither could defeat the other.
Jane and Sif watched anxiously.
What were they supposed to do now? Those two metal monsters did not seem capable of tiring. Once Thor ran out of stamina, none of them would escape.
"Hey... bastard, get up and help Thor deal with those two Destroyers."
Sif kicked Apocalypse's charred "corpse."
Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg, Jane, Daisy, and Eric stared at her in horror.
Was this woman insane? He had been burned into charcoal, and she was still kicking him?! Did she have no conscience?
"Get up already!" Sif kicked him again.
Hogun stepped forward to persuade her. "Sif, don't be like this. Brother Tang helped us hold back the Destroyers and bought us time. The dead deserve respect. Let the past grudges stay in the past."
At the same time, he thought to himself, Women really are petty. Wasn't it just that Brother Tang pinched her neck during their fight? She's still holding a grudge even after he's dead. I must never offend this comrade in the future, or she'll definitely resent me until I die.
Sif shook her head and kicked him several more times. "You don't understand. He's pretending. Hey... get up!"
Daisy rushed over, tears streaming down her face as she stood in front of Sif. "You're so narrow-minded! He's already been burned into charcoal, and you still won't leave him alone. Why don't you go pretend to be dead in front of the Destroyers and show me?"
With the string of sudden changes just now, Daisy had not even had time to grieve for the prince of her dreams. But seeing Sif kick his "remains," all the sorrow in her heart surged forth at once.
Everyone joined in cursing Sif, making her even angrier.
That bastard on the ground is definitely trying to embarrass me on purpose. I clearly saw you open your eyes just now.
"Bastard, get up! Thor is about to run out of strength!" Sif shouted.
Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg stepped forward, preparing to pull Sif away before she did anything more improper. This was truly too disgraceful for Asgard.
"Fine, keep pretending! That thing of yours is useless now that it's burned anyway, so I'll cut it off. Let's see if you keep pretending then!"
With a swish, Sif flicked her sword and thrust it straight toward Apocalypse's vital area.
The others were too late to stop her and could not help closing their eyes. This was too cruel. Poor Brother Tang—who would have thought he would suffer such punishment even after death?
Just as the sword tip was about to strike, there was suddenly a snap. Two blackened fingers accurately caught Sif's sword.
Apocalypse slowly sat up, the charred dead skin peeling away from his body.
"I fought so hard just now. Can't I take a break?"
"No!!!"
All seven of them shouted at him in unison!
In just a few short minutes, their emotions had risen and fallen like a roller coaster several times. Now that Apocalypse had "come back to life," their anger instantly outweighed their joy, and they united against him!
Seeing that the seven of them looked ready to eat him alive, Apocalypse hurried away from this dangerous place.
Wearing nothing but a pair of large underpants, he leaped toward the battlefield.
That was right, only a pair of large underpants remained—and they were gold!
