Background / History

Mu was the elder son of Al Da Flaga. His father judged him unsuitable as the family heir because of the compassion and independence he displayed as a child, then imposed a far harsher education on Mu’s younger brother, Char. Mu quietly protected Char where he could, including comforting him while their parents argued over their father’s treatment of him. 687 688

Mu was away in training when Al Da Flaga and his wife died in a fire. He and Char inherited the family’s vast secret estate, whose resources and loyal retainers had been prepared by their father as contingencies for their sons’ survival. 2

By the Heliopolis incident, Mu was a captain attached to the Earth Alliance’s 7th Mobile Fleet and a renowned pilot of the Moebius Zero. His Mobile Armor was damaged in battle, leading him to board the Archangel and join its depleted crew. 12 57

Mu was reunited with Char—also called Xia Ya—after discovering that his younger brother had secretly reached Heliopolis and piloted the Blaze Gundam. Though relieved Char was alive, Mu was furious and frightened by his involvement in the war; Char’s evasiveness left their reunion strained. 13 14

Personality

Mu balances an easygoing, teasing manner with the discipline of a veteran combat pilot. He can lighten fear with humor—such as teasing Jiliang over her feelings for Char—but becomes focused and authoritative when briefing pilots or directing a battle. 25 27
