Background / History

Qi Lingguang came from Yuan Feeding City beneath the nine-story black Yuan Feeding Pagoda. She remembers suddenly losing consciousness before being abducted into the Golden Core Immortal Sect, but not how she was taken there. 6

Before Gu Qingfeng learns her name, Qi Lingguang helps him after the Golden Core Celestial Venerable's examination and shares her human-skin umbrella with him in the rain. She warns him that disciples may be replaced by spies wearing the skins of dead sect members; together, they establish a recognition signal of curling the right little finger before speaking. 2 5 6

Zhang Yao selects Qi Lingguang, Gu Qingfeng, Zhao San, Wang Wu, and Shen Yun for a supposed private assessment in Garan Hall. She is immobilized by the suppression scripture, humiliated by Zhang Yao, and forced to watch the senior sister prey upon the disciples' Golden Cores. 9 10

After Gu Qingfeng kills Zhang Yao, the Third Senior Brother, and Wang Qian, Qi Lingguang immediately agrees to escape with him. She follows the group through the Furnace Workshop passage and the sect's living, corpse-filled cavern. 11 12

During the escape, Qi Lingguang intercepts a Man-Dog's ambush against Gu Qingfeng, taking the impact herself and buying him time to respond. Later, living trees drag her into the forest; Gu Qingfeng pursues and frees her. 14 15 16 She subsequently helps restrain Gu Qingfeng when his exhilaration at cutting down the monster trees threatens to distract him from the escape. 17

Qi Lingguang identifies the cave exit, restoring the group's morale as Gu Qingfeng clears the final mass of roots and trapped corpses. The group successfully escapes the Golden Core Immortal Sect, then travels downstream to evade pursuit. 18 19

At the survivors' camp, Qi Lingguang continues calling Gu Qingfeng “Senior Brother Gu” while the others begin treating him as an “Immortal Master.” She invites him to accompany her back to Yuan Feeding City, and he accepts. That night, a silent supernatural flood separates them. 20 21

Appearance

Qi Lingguang is noted for her peach-blossom eyes, beauty, and gentle demeanor. Zhang Yao particularly resents her for appearing kind and weak, and targets her partly out of jealousy. 5 10 12

She is cautious but not passive. Though terrified of the sect and its monsters, she risks herself to protect Gu Qingfeng from an ambush and later acts as a moderating influence when his violence becomes dangerously unfocused. 14 17

Unlike the other survivors, Qi Lingguang maintains a comparatively natural relationship with Gu Qingfeng after his power becomes obvious. Her continued use of “Senior Brother Gu” and invitation to Yuan Feeding City show trust and warmth rather than reverential fear. 20
