Ch. 181The Chinoike Clan? They Hadn't Been Wiped Out by Their Own Yet...

Chapter Summary

1. Key Plot Points and Events

  • After the daimyōs disappear, widespread disorder erupts throughout the Ninja World. With most ninja no longer performing ordinary missions, Konoha struggles to suppress rebellions and maintain stability.
  • Minato Namikaze visits the Uchiha Clan to request the mobilization of its ninja, as well as Uchiha Ensei’s personal Ninja Cat Clan forces.
  • Ensei agrees to help, believing that allowing the world to descend into prolonged war, famine, and bloodshed would threaten the future world he intends to possess and rule.
  • Concerned that Ensei might become disillusioned with humanity and respond too violently, Minato sends Kushina Uzumaki with him so she can monitor his mental state using the Kagura Mind’s Eye.
  • Their mission leads them to territory controlled by the Chinoike Clan, which has gathered numerous allies and appears determined to exploit the political chaos before the Five Kage Summit.
  • Ensei recognizes the Chinoike Clan’s connection to the Uchiha and orders Hinata Hyuga and Uchiha Hikari to confront the enemy. Hinata is permitted to kill attackers, while Hikari is tasked with collecting chakra and studying the Ketsuryūgan’s effects on the Mangekyō Sharingan.
  • Ensei publicly warns the Chinoike forces to stop their activities. He offers those who remain inactive a chance to live, but threatens death to anyone who continues resisting.
  • The Chinoike ninja ignore the warning and attack Hinata and Hikari, intending to capture them as leverage. The chapter ends as the battle begins, with the attackers unaware that they have challenged some of the world’s strongest fighters.

2. Character Developments

  • Uchiha Ensei: Reveals a pragmatic and ruthless sense of responsibility. Although he claims not to be a murderous demon, he is fully prepared to kill those who threaten stability and views the Ninja World almost as his personal possession.
  • Minato Namikaze: Demonstrates political awareness and caution. He trusts Ensei’s strength but fears his reaction to humanity’s corruption, so he arranges for Kushina to accompany him.
  • Kushina Uzumaki: Acts as the moral counterbalance to Ensei. Her optimism leads her to advocate surrender and negotiation, but Ensei’s cold orders begin to unsettle her.
  • Hinata Hyuga: Has recently reached a limit in her physical development and is sent into battle to test and adapt to her new strength.
  • Uchiha Hikari: Receives a research-oriented assignment, collecting chakra to determine whether the Chinoike Clan’s ocular power has special effects on the Mangekyō Sharingan.
  • The Chinoike Clan: Is portrayed as ambitious and reckless, confident enough to resist Ensei’s warning and attack his subordinates.

3. Significant Themes

  • Order versus chaos: The disappearance of the daimyōs creates a power vacuum, forcing the ninja villages to use military strength to preserve peace.
  • The morality of power: Ensei believes harsh violence may be necessary to prevent greater suffering, while Kushina represents mercy, hope, and the possibility of peaceful persuasion.
  • Fear and deterrence: Ensei attempts to end the conflict through overwhelming authority, offering survival only to those willing to submit.
  • Humanity’s susceptibility to manipulation: Many rebels are described as brainwashed pawns who believe they are fighting for noble ideals while actually serving the ambitions of others.
  • Possession and control: Ensei and Kaguya both view the Ninja World as something under their protection—or ownership—though Ensei rejects Kaguya’s method of harvesting chakra.
  • Scientific curiosity amid violence: Hikari’s mission shows how the battle is also being treated as an opportunity to investigate the relationship between the Ketsuryūgan and the Mangekyō Sharingan.

4. Character Interactions

  • Minato and Ensei: Minato requests military support, and Ensei agrees, though his willingness to use lethal force concerns Minato.
  • Minato and Kushina: Minato relies on Kushina to monitor and temper Ensei, showing his trust in her judgment and emotional influence.
  • Kushina and Ensei: Kushina urges Ensei to offer surrender before killing anyone. Ensei dismisses her concern but gives the enemy one final chance to stand down.
  • Ensei, Hinata, and Hikari: Ensei commands them as elite operatives, assigning Hinata the combat role and Hikari the chakra-collection and research role.
  • Ensei and the Chinoike Clan: Ensei issues a direct ultimatum, but the clan’s forces reject it and attack, setting up the chapter’s impending confrontation.

Ch. 182It's Time to Let Go of These Byakugan

Plot points and events

  • Hinata Hyuga and Uchiha Hikari crush the Chinoike Clan’s resistance, killing those who attack and leaving the settlement devastated. Kushina Uzumaki struggles with the carnage, while the Yin Nine-Tails taunts her.
  • Uchiha Ensei checks on Hinata and warns the surviving Chinoike that further rebellion will mean their destruction. Kushina helps assess the situation, and Ensei moves on to pacify other factions. Most surrender quickly.
  • After the campaign, Hinata has grown accustomed to her immense power. Ensei has also mastered control of his life force and is ready to remove the Byakugan and Tenseigan power sealed inside his body.
  • Ensei prepares to transfer that power to Hinata, hoping she can awaken a true Tenseigan. He explains the danger: she must assimilate it without letting it overwhelm her mind. He then begins reclaiming his life force and expelling the ocular power for her to receive.

Character developments and interactions

  • Hinata has become more confident and resolute, though Ensei can still sense that the massacre shook her. She insists she understands the necessity of killing, and accepts the risks of receiving the Tenseigan.
  • Ensei shows concern for Hinata and carefully guides her through the transfer, while regretting that his own non-Hyuga heritage prevents him from using the eyes’ full potential.
  • Hikari remains unfazed by the slaughter but feels overlooked when Ensei comforts Hinata rather than her.
  • Kushina finds the violence difficult to endure and argues with the Nine-Tails, whose mockery inadvertently helps her cope.

Significant themes

  • Power and its psychological cost: overwhelming strength makes the battles easy, but violence still affects Hinata and Kushina differently.
  • Confidence through strength: Hinata’s newfound power has helped her shed some of her former timidity.
  • Control and sacrifice: Ensei must separate himself from powerful abilities he once relied on, while Hinata risks her mind and life to gain them.
  • Loyalty and rebellion: Ensei’s campaign forces rival factions to submit, underscoring the vast gulf between his group’s power and that of ordinary ninja forces.

Ch. 183Nine-Tomoe Sharingan, But Not the Rinne Sharingan!!!

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Uchiha Ensei extracts Tenseigan chakra from the moon’s Giant Tenseigan and transfers it into Hinata Hyuga.
  • Because Ensei is not a Hyuga, he cannot fully utilize the Byakugan-derived power himself, but Hinata’s exceptionally pure Byakugan accepts it with unusual ease.
  • Ensei suppresses the unstable Tenseigan and Byakugan forces within his own body using chakra enhanced by his awakened Sage Body.
  • Hinata’s Byakugan undergoes three successive metamorphoses, gradually stabilizing into a permanent Tenseigan-like evolution.
  • Ensei completely drains the Giant Tenseigan of its remaining power, causing its internal Byakugan to turn to dust and its shell to crumble.
  • He then removes and transfers the power of the approximately one hundred thousand Byakugan sealed within him into Hinata.
  • Once all the foreign power is gone, the Replica Divine Tree is expelled from Ensei’s body, triggering a massive increase in his chakra and ocular power.
  • Ensei’s chakra rises to a level only slightly below that of the Ten-Tails.
  • His Sharingan evolves into an unusual nine-tomoe form that does not match the traditional Rinne Sharingan.

Character Developments

  • Uchiha Ensei: Successfully purges the moon-derived and Byakugan-related powers from his body, sacrificing the Giant Tenseigan and sealed Byakugan to strengthen Hinata. His own eyes evolve into a unique Nine-Tomoe Sharingan. He discovers that he can freely switch between three-, six-, and nine-tomoe forms.
  • Hinata Hyuga: Her pure Byakugan proves highly compatible with the Tenseigan power. She completes three stages of metamorphosis without suffering harm, suggesting that she may possess the qualities implied by the title “Princess of the Byakugan.”
  • Replica Divine Tree: The tree, previously hidden within Ensei, is expelled once the other sealed powers disappear, marking the completion of Ensei’s transformation.

Significant Themes

  • Inheritance and compatibility: Power cannot always be controlled by the person who possesses it; Hinata’s Hyuga heritage allows her to use Tenseigan power more naturally than Ensei.
  • Transformation and evolution: Both Hinata’s Byakugan and Ensei’s Sharingan undergo major evolutionary changes, creating new and potentially unprecedented forms.
  • Sacrifice for growth: Ensei destroys valuable lunar artifacts and relinquishes immense stored power in order to stabilize Hinata and complete his own evolution.
  • Following or creating a new path: Ensei questions whether his Nine-Tomoe Sharingan represents a return to an established evolutionary route or the creation of an entirely new one.

Character Interactions

  • Ensei carefully monitors Hinata throughout the transfer, repeatedly checking whether she can control the incoming power.
  • Hinata reassures Ensei that she feels only pressure and swelling in her eyes, indicating that her body is adapting safely.
  • Their interaction reflects Ensei’s protective concern and Hinata’s trust in him.
  • After witnessing Hinata’s successful transformation, Ensei uses the remaining Byakugan power to complete her evolution before focusing on his own changes.

Ending Development

Ensei determines that his new eyes differ from the Rinne Sharingan: they retain the basic Sharingan structure, gain six additional tomoe, and provide three adjustable forms. The six-tomoe form preserves his Mangekyō abilities and may potentially be enhanced by acquiring other Mangekyō ocular powers, while the nine-tomoe form represents his newly achieved full power.

Ch. 184The True Tenseigan... Is This the Princess of the Byakugan?

Plot points and events

  • Uchiha Ensei’s eyes evolve into a Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan, a more complete fusion of Rinnegan and Mangekyō powers than Sasuke’s divided Six-Tomoe form. Ensei senses that his ocular power exceeds Madara’s former Rinnegan and wonders whether he can reproduce its abilities, especially Limbo and Rinne Rebirth.
  • Hinata awakens a genuine Tenseigan. She discovers that it grants her Yomotsu Hirasaka, allowing her to open portals to places she knows, though inaccurate destinations could cause problems. She also senses another technique she cannot yet identify.
  • Ensei begins training Hinata and teaching her broader ideas about ethics and thought, hoping to challenge the Ninja World’s combat-focused outlook. His informal classroom attracts Naruto, Karin, Sasuke, and Uchiha Hikari; Naruto later becomes a substitute teacher for another group.
  • As the Five Kage Summit approaches, Ensei plans to use Minato’s Flying Thunder God kunai to arrive without traveling the whole way. At the Land of Iron, he is surprised by the large number of attendees and hidden factions beyond the Five Great Ninja Villages.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei grows more confident in his power and turns from personal advancement toward changing the Ninja World. He is impressed—and envious—of Hinata’s effortless awakening, but also asks her not to be persuaded into betraying him.
  • Hinata gains immense confidence and a sense of strength, while remaining loyal to Ensei. She accepts his training and lessons, though she is puzzled by their relevance.
  • Naruto is portrayed as steadier and more dependable than in the original story, and he takes on a teaching role.
  • The classroom brings Ensei into contact with several young characters, while his conversation with Minato indirectly leads to the larger gathering at the summit.

Significant themes

  • Power and inheritance: Ensei compares the nature of his evolved eyes with Madara’s and Sasuke’s, while Hinata’s Tenseigan establishes her as an unusually powerful figure.
  • Education beyond combat: Ensei wants ninja to develop broader judgment and challenge narrow, militaristic thinking.
  • Loyalty and influence: Ensei seeks Hinata’s loyalty even as he tries to shape her worldview.
  • Political complexity: The summit’s many participants suggest the Ninja World contains more factions and interests than the major villages alone.

Ch. 185Could All Humanity Achieve Immortality? Do You Think That's Possible?

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Uchiha Ensei arrives in the Land of Iron through Flying Thunder God, drawing attention because he is one of the few people capable of opposing Madara Uchiha.
  • Konoha and the Ninja Cat Clan have protected Ensei from outside schemes, while the Cat Clan’s inheritable Sage Mode has elevated it to a power comparable to the Five Great Ninja Villages.
  • Mifune, leader of the samurai, personally receives Ensei and explains that the samurai want to preserve their independence amid Madara’s plan to unify the Ninja World.
  • Ensei rejects the idea of preserving the samurai’s autonomy, stating that they must either obey or die. He warns that Madara may be willing to sacrifice half the world.
  • Several samurai ambush Ensei and Mifune. Ensei kills them instantly, demonstrating a level of strength far beyond Mifune’s expectations.
  • Mifune realizes that he cannot protect the samurai through force and reluctantly leads Ensei to Madara.
  • Ensei questions Madara about the consequences of unifying the Ninja World and challenges the logic behind Infinite Tsukuyomi.
  • He points out that even an ideal dream world would eventually lose its inhabitants to aging and death, questioning whether humanity could truly become immortal.

Character Developments

  • Uchiha Ensei: Revealed as overwhelmingly powerful, ruthless, and focused on a larger objective that ordinary people cannot understand. He shows little concern for political independence or individual lives.
  • Mifune: Begins as a proud leader hoping to negotiate the samurai’s survival but becomes intimidated after witnessing Ensei’s effortless destruction of the attackers. He recognizes the limits of his own strength and authority.
  • Madara Uchiha: Shown to understand that imposed peace is temporary and that conflict will eventually return after the deaths of its founders. His earlier plan, Infinite Tsukuyomi, is portrayed as flawed because it does not solve mortality. He also appears uncomfortable discussing the Demonic Statue and his past manipulation.

Significant Themes

  • Unity versus freedom: Madara’s unification threatens the Land of Iron’s independence, while Ensei treats individual freedom as irrelevant compared with his greater goal.
  • The limits of enforced peace: Madara recognizes that peace imposed by one generation cannot survive indefinitely if people remain unable to accept differing opinions.
  • Mortality and immortality: Ensei exposes a fundamental weakness in Infinite Tsukuyomi: even a perfect illusion cannot preserve humanity if its inhabitants still age and die.
  • Power and obedience: The chapter presents overwhelming strength as the ultimate political authority, with Ensei reducing the samurai’s choices to submission or extinction.
  • Traditional strength versus chakra: Mifune represents the declining samurai tradition, while Ensei acknowledges that non-chakra physical and spiritual power can still rival weaker Kage-level fighters.

Character Interactions

  • Ensei and Mifune: Their meeting is dominated by intimidation. Mifune seeks protection for the samurai, but Ensei dismisses his concerns and forces him to serve as a guide.
  • Ensei and the attacking samurai: The attackers attempt to defend their people but are killed before Mifune can react, reinforcing the vast gap between Ensei and ordinary elite fighters.
  • Ensei and Madara: Their conversation shifts from political unification to the philosophical problem of lasting peace and human immortality. Ensei directly challenges Madara’s ideology and exposes weaknesses in his plan.

Ch. 186Your Eyes... Evolved Again?

Chapter Summary: “Your Eyes... Evolved Again?”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Madara notices that Uchiha Ensei’s eyes have evolved once again and senses a faint threat from them, despite wielding the Rinnegan himself.
  • Ensei reveals that his new Nine-Tomoe Sharingan may have reached or surpassed the Rinnegan’s level.
  • Ensei activates his eyes and successfully replicates Madara’s Rinnegan ocular techniques. The process briefly forces Madara’s Rinnegan power to leak out, making Madara realize the overwhelming gap between them.
  • Ensei is delighted to confirm that his Nine-Tomoe Sharingan can copy even Rinnegan abilities, strengthening his belief that it represents the purest path of ocular evolution.
  • The conversation shifts to the upcoming Five Kage Summit and the future of the Ninja World. Ensei warns Madara that unification must create a genuine, lasting nation rather than a fragile regime dependent on one person.
  • Ensei outlines a centralized political system: unify the people’s ideology, establish universal laws, define administrative responsibilities, and create a supreme authority capable of controlling the entire Ninja World.
  • Madara admits that he may not live long enough to become the emperor or oversee the long-term development of this new order.
  • He explains that awakening the Rinnegan, relying on the Demonic Statue, using Hashirama Cells, and restoring his ocular power have severely shortened his lifespan.
  • Ensei examines Madara and confirms that the Hashirama Cells are still eroding his body and that his Sage Body is incomplete. Madara likely has only seven or eight years left, though Ensei believes he can extend that to more than twenty years.
  • Ensei persuades Madara to personally build the new era. Madara accepts, promising to create the future they have envisioned.

Character Developments

  • Uchiha Ensei: Demonstrates a dramatic advancement in power by copying Rinnegan techniques with his Nine-Tomoe Sharingan. He also reveals a pragmatic and politically calculating side, preferring Madara to establish the unified world so that he can later inherit a completed system rather than build it himself.
  • Madara Uchiha: Is humbled by Ensei’s superior abilities and struggles emotionally with seeing powers he acquired through great sacrifice replicated so easily. He also reveals his mortality and accepts that his original plans may no longer be suitable. Despite his limited lifespan, he recommits himself to shaping a peaceful, unified future.

Significant Themes

  • Evolution and surpassing predecessors: Ensei’s Nine-Tomoe Sharingan challenges the Rinnegan’s status as the ultimate eye technique.
  • The cost of power: Madara’s immense abilities have come at the expense of his body and lifespan.
  • Legacy and succession: Madara must begin constructing the new world even though Ensei, who proposed the vision, may eventually inherit it.
  • Political order versus chaos: The chapter argues that lasting peace requires unified ideology, enforceable laws, and centralized authority rather than merely gathering people under one banner.
  • Idealism and pragmatism: Both men want a unified world, but Ensei approaches it strategically while Madara is willing to sacrifice the remainder of his life to realize it.

Important Character Interactions

  • Madara confronts Ensei about the frightening evolution of his eyes, while Ensei casually demonstrates that he can copy Rinnegan abilities.
  • Ensei advises Madara on how to construct a stable unified state, effectively becoming the political theorist behind Madara’s future rule.
  • Madara challenges Ensei to take responsibility for the vision he proposed, prompting Ensei to provide a concrete governing framework.
  • Ensei examines Madara’s deteriorating body and offers to extend his life, creating the possibility for Madara to personally establish the new era.
  • The chapter ends with mutual commitment: Madara agrees to build the unified world, while Ensei watches with satisfaction, intending to benefit from the system later.

Ch. 187Die, or Obey...

Chapter Summary: “Die, or Obey...”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • After discussing matters with Madara Uchiha, Orochimaru completes his preparations. The Kotoamatsukami controlling him is removed by Uchiha Ensei after Orochimaru’s role in infiltrating Kara and locating Ōtsutsuki Isshiki.
  • The two divided versions of Orochimaru apparently resolve their conflict—whether through discussion or a battle for dominance—and only one Orochimaru remains. He chooses to continue serving the Land of Dawn.
  • Orochimaru becomes a powerful adviser and administrator under Madara, with authority beyond that of a normal Hokage adviser. His greatest motivation is access to advanced ninjutsu and greater power, and he earns Madara’s trust.
  • The Shadowless Conference begins in the Land of Iron. Unlike previous summits, it includes representatives from nearly every major and minor force, bringing together the Ninja World’s strongest human combatants.
  • Madara’s presence silences the gathering. His regime has already exterminated the daimyo, nobles, many generals, small-country governments, minor ninja villages, and numerous Kekkei Genkai clans that resisted him.
  • The seating arrangement emphasizes Konoha’s unusual power structure: Minato Namikaze and Uchiha Ensei sit as apparent equals, each with their own guards, suggesting that Konoha has two leaders. In reality, informed participants know Ensei’s strength rivals Madara’s.
  • Documents outlining Madara’s new rules are distributed to all attendees. The conference becomes chaotic as participants struggle to read and interpret the terms.
  • The Fourth Raikage challenges Minato, asking whether the rules were truly agreed upon with Madara. Minato admits the document is new to him but states that Konoha accepts it, arguing that the rules mainly replace the authority once held by the daimyo and prohibit warfare among ninja.
  • Uchiha Ensei declares that he personally drafted the document and clarifies that the gathering is not a negotiation but a notification. The terms must be obeyed: “Either die, or obey.”
  • Although smaller factions hope the Raikage will resist, he remains silent, visibly angry but unwilling to challenge Ensei openly.

Character Developments

  • Orochimaru: Becomes fully independent after the removal of Kotoamatsukami and consolidates into a single self-directed identity. He willingly serves the Land of Dawn, motivated by his pursuit of knowledge, ninjutsu, and power. His competence turns him into one of Madara’s trusted advisers.
  • Madara Uchiha: Establishes himself as the unquestioned supreme authority over the Ninja World. His willingness to annihilate all resistance has created an atmosphere of fear and obedience.
  • Uchiha Ensei: Demonstrates major political and military authority, openly acting as the architect and enforcer of the new order. His strength and confidence allow him to confront the Five Great Villages without treating the conference as an equal negotiation.
  • Minato Namikaze: Publicly supports the new rules despite having seen them for the first time, prioritizing peace and the prevention of further ninja warfare. His equal seating with Ensei highlights Konoha’s divided or dual leadership.
  • Fourth Raikage: Remains defiant in attitude but ultimately backs down in practice, revealing the limits of his ability to oppose Madara and Ensei.
  • Ōnoki and Mei Terumi: Clearly dislike or distrust the new terms but avoid direct resistance, recognizing the overwhelming power behind them.

Significant Themes

  • Peace through coercion: The new order claims to end war, but it is imposed through mass slaughter and threats rather than cooperation.
  • Power replacing legitimacy: Traditional governments, daimyo, clans, and villages have been destroyed, and authority now comes entirely from military strength.
  • Obedience versus resistance: The chapter frames the central political choice as absolute submission or death, leaving no room for compromise.
  • Fear as social control: Madara’s previous conquests ensure that even powerful leaders remain silent when confronted.
  • Knowledge and ambition: Orochimaru’s continued loyalty reflects his willingness to serve whoever grants him access to greater knowledge and power.
  • The illusion of unity: The conference brings the Ninja World together, but the gathering is not truly cooperative; the smaller factions and major villages are merely receiving orders.

Character Interactions

  • Madara entrusts Orochimaru with important responsibilities, showing their relationship has shifted from suspicion to confidence.
  • Uchiha Ensei and Minato present a united political front in Konoha, though their equal positions create uncertainty among other attendees.
  • The Fourth Raikage confronts Minato over the new rules, but Ensei interrupts the implied debate and asserts that he—not the assembled leaders—holds decision-making power.
  • Ensei’s ultimatum silences the Raikage and the rest of the conference, demonstrating the dominance of Madara’s faction over every other force present.

Ch. 188The Old Order Had Been Broken, and a New Order Was Being Established

Chapter Summary

1. Key Plot Points and Events

  • Madara Uchiha makes it clear that the proposed peace document is not open to negotiation; it is a binding notice enforced by force.
  • He announces that each major faction must manage a designated area and contribute fifty Jonin-level ninja to an Enforcement Corps. Any problem the corps cannot solve will be handled personally by Madara.
  • Madara threatens to kill everyone present if they refuse, effectively ending all resistance.
  • Minato of Konoha, Mei of Kirigakure, the Fourth Raikage of Kumogakure, and finally Ōnoki of Iwagakure agree to obey the treaty and recognize the ruler of the Land of Dawn.
  • Madara then removes the ninja villages’ autonomy. They can no longer govern themselves or make major decisions without official approval.
  • The meeting establishes a new centralized world order, with the former great villages reduced to subordinate administrative units.
  • Afterward, Madara focuses on stabilizing the world and confiscating the wealth and property left behind by the vanished daimyo and nobles. Resistance leads to widespread bloodshed.
  • The Land of Rain is chosen as the new central capital, and Madara uses his power to overcome its constant rainfall.
  • Ninja missions shift toward rebuilding society. Roads are constructed rapidly through ninjutsu, trade expands, taxes are reorganized, and taxes on farmland are reduced.
  • New technology inspired by Uchiha Ensei begins appearing, while a network system makes posting and accepting missions more efficient.

2. Character Developments

  • Madara Uchiha fully assumes the role of supreme ruler and enforcer. His vision of peace is authoritarian, maintained through absolute power and fear of punishment.
  • Uchiha Ensei remains influential behind the new system, helping establish the detailed framework for peace and contributing ideas that lead to technological progress.
  • Minato Namikaze shows pragmatism by becoming the first leader to accept the treaty rather than allowing Konoha to be destroyed by resisting inevitable change.
  • Mei Terumi agrees without much hesitation, having already lost her will to oppose Madara after their previous conflicts.
  • The Fourth Raikage is deeply frustrated because he cannot secure advantages for Kumogakure, but reluctantly submits to preserve his village.
  • Ōnoki struggles the most with the decision. His silence reflects his grief and resistance, but he ultimately accepts the treaty to prevent Iwagakure’s destruction.
  • The leaders collectively lose political independence and must adapt to a system in which their villages retain limited administrative functions but no true sovereignty.

3. Significant Themes

  • The destruction of the old order: The disappearance of the daimyo and nobles, followed by the loss of village autonomy, marks the end of the traditional political system.
  • Peace through domination: Madara creates peace not through equal negotiation but through overwhelming military authority and the threat of death.
  • Pragmatism versus pride: The village leaders must choose between resisting an unbeatable power and submitting to protect their people.
  • Centralization and modernization: The new regime brings unified laws, infrastructure, taxation, trade, technology, and communications.
  • The human cost of reform: Seizing noble assets and suppressing resistance causes considerable violence, showing that progress is accompanied by bloodshed.
  • Changing roles of ninjas: Ninjas move beyond warfare and missions between rival villages, becoming builders, enforcers, administrators, and agents of societal development.

4. Character Interactions

  • Madara and the Fourth Raikage: Madara’s authority destroys the Raikage’s hope of negotiating favorable terms, forcing him into reluctant submission.
  • Madara and Ōnoki: Madara directly pressures Ōnoki to declare Iwagakure’s position, making clear that continued silence or resistance will bring disaster.
  • The four major village leaders: Minato speaks first, influencing the others; Mei follows readily, the Raikage reluctantly agrees, and Ōnoki becomes the final holdout.
  • Madara and all meeting attendees: He repeatedly suppresses debate through threats, ensuring that the treaty and centralized system cannot be challenged.
  • Madara and Uchiha Ensei: Their apparent agreement gives the new order additional legitimacy and makes resistance seem impossible, since the two most powerful Uchihas are united in shaping the future.

Ch. 189How Was Hagoromo Otsutsuki Born If There's a Reproductive Barrier?

Plot points and events

  • In the peaceful, Madara-ruled Ninja World, trade and technology are advancing. Ninja work is shifting from strict military service toward a more independent, mercenary-like profession.
  • Uchiha Ensei buys an early game console, then turns to reproducing Ōtsutsuki Isshiki’s ocular technique. Ordinary clones cannot support Isshiki’s eyes, so Ensei tries growing Isshiki’s tissue.
  • The tissue will grow only when the nutrient solution includes Natural Energy and White Zetsu cells. Even then, it becomes a grotesque, unstable creature and dissolves, leading Ensei to suspect Ōtsutsuki genetic safeguards and the need for a soul.
  • Ensei then tries a different route: he takes an egg cell from Karin Uzumaki’s mother, builds an artificial womb, and uses Isshiki’s reproductive material to create a hybrid child.
  • Ten months later, the infant is physically formed but lifeless and malformed. Tsunade identifies the cause as a reproductive barrier between the species. Ensei is left wondering how Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki could have been born.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei is shown as patient, methodical, and ethically unconcerned in pursuit of Ōtsutsuki abilities. He ignores Isshiki’s offers of immortality and membership in the Ōtsutsuki Clan, using him instead as a test subject.
  • Isshiki shifts from confident persuasion to bewilderment when Ensei injects him, but remains powerless and sealed.
  • Tsunade reluctantly examines the infant and quickly recognizes the biological incompatibility, rebuking Ensei for his experimentation.
  • Ensei’s interaction with Karin’s mother is covert: he disguises the egg-cell extraction as a medical procedure and uses Kyōka Suigetsu so she feels nothing.

Significant themes

  • Scientific ambition and its limits: Ensei’s increasingly elaborate experiments reveal that technical skill cannot simply overcome biological and possibly spiritual barriers.
  • Power and exploitation: Isshiki is treated as a resource rather than a person, while Karin’s mother is manipulated without consent.
  • Change through peace: The opening contrasts Ensei’s private experiments with a wider society being reshaped by peace, commerce, and changing ninja roles.
  • A lingering mystery: Tsunade’s diagnosis raises the central question of how Hagoromo and Hamura could be born despite the reproductive barrier.

Ch. 190The Sage Body and Sharingan Really Are a Perfect Match!

Key plot points and events

  • Uchiha Ensei wonders how the Ōtsutsuki and their descendants could reproduce, and considers Yin–Yang Release as a possible explanation.
  • He asks Tsunade to assess his attempt to combine an Uzumaki bloodline trait with unknown, highly invasive cells. She concludes that the vast difference in their life-force makes the experiment impossible.
  • Ensei asks whether the two could produce a child instead. Tsunade warns that the disparity is enormous and success is highly unlikely; even a successful child might not have the qualities he wants. Ensei takes her explanation as a clue and turns to Hashirama Senju.
  • Ensei proposes transplanting his special eyes into Hashirama, promising to give Tsunade Wood Release in return and claiming the procedure carries no risk. Tsunade objects, but Hashirama—who has less than a month to live and feels indebted to Ensei—agrees.
  • Ensei warns Hashirama to act if he senses another will inside the eyes, then performs the transplant. It succeeds, and Ensei concludes that Hashirama’s Sage Body and the Sharingan are an ideal match.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei is analytical and willing to pursue ethically troubling experiments, though he distinguishes using a cloned body from sacrificing a person. He quickly converts Tsunade’s warning into a new plan.
  • Tsunade shifts from disgust to scientific curiosity, then becomes alarmed by Ensei’s proposal. She tries to protect Hashirama but ultimately cannot overrule either Ensei or Hashirama.
  • Hashirama accepts the procedure with characteristic generosity and humor, seeing it as a chance to help the next generation. His limited remaining lifespan makes him willing to take the risk.

Significant themes

  • Life, heredity, and power: The chapter links bloodline abilities and reproduction to differences in life-force.
  • Ethical limits of experimentation: Ensei’s scientific ambition clashes with Tsunade’s concern for living people.
  • Self-sacrifice and duty: Hashirama willingly risks himself out of gratitude and a sense of responsibility.
  • Compatibility and adaptation: The successful transplant suggests that the right body can overcome the obstacles that defeated Ensei’s earlier experiment.

Ch. 191No problem, just use it once in front of me.

Key plot points and events

  • Hashirama Senju temporarily receives Ōtsutsuki Isshiki’s eyes. Though they initially seem easy for him to bear, Ensei notices the Black Eye steadily draining Hashirama’s chakra.
  • At Ensei’s request, Hashirama demonstrates the eyes’ abilities: Sukunahikona, Daikokuten, and portal-opening. The demonstration nearly exhausts him because the Black Eye is absorbing his chakra to restore its own power.
  • Ensei removes Isshiki’s eyes and returns Hashirama’s original ones, warning that Hashirama has less than a week to live after the chakra loss.
  • Ensei gives Tsunade an experimental serum intended to awaken a sage body and Wood Release. He says it has a high success rate but carries risks, and offers to revive her if the experiment proves fatal.
  • Tsunade injects the serum. Severe pain soon makes her activate her Yin Seal and Strength of a Hundred technique. Ensei stays to monitor her, while Hashirama watches in distress.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei is confident and open about his own abilities, focuses on learning Isshiki’s techniques, and demonstrates extensive knowledge of eye transplants, sealing, and revival. He also takes responsibility for overseeing Tsunade’s dangerous experiment.
  • Hashirama is impressed by Ensei’s Nine-Tomoe Sharingan but remains wary enough to alert Tsunade. His concern shifts to his declining lifespan and, most urgently, Tsunade’s painful transformation.
  • Tsunade acts decisively, accepting the serum despite its risks. Her medical expertise is implied by her examination of Hashirama, while her use of the Yin Seal helps her endure the serum’s effects.
  • Ensei and Hashirama cooperate over the ocular techniques, while Tsunade and Hashirama share a close bond reflected in his anguish as he watches her suffer.

Significant themes

  • Power has a cost: Isshiki’s eyes are extraordinarily potent but consume even Hashirama’s vast chakra.
  • Knowledge through risk: Ensei studies the eyes directly, and Tsunade accepts a dangerous experiment to gain new abilities.
  • Care and responsibility: Ensei’s blunt manner contrasts with his willingness to stay and intervene; Hashirama’s worry highlights his affection for Tsunade.
  • Life and death: Ensei presents revival as possible, complicating the boundary between death and recovery.

Ch. 192The Clone Ōtsutsuki Isshiki Left Behind...

Plot points and events

  • Tsunade awakens a sage body and Wood Release after Hashirama transfers senjutsu chakra to her. Her Yin Seal returns to normal, but she keeps the new ability secret.
  • Hashirama dies eight days later, apparently from exhaustion. Ensei discovers through the Spirit Transformation Technique that Hashirama’s body is still alive at a cellular level, but lacks whatever sustains life—raising questions about the nature of ultimate Yang Release.
  • Minato holds a quiet funeral rather than publicizing Hashirama’s return. Madara attends and reflects that Hashirama was right: hope entrusted to the next generation endures.
  • Ensei resumes studying Isshiki’s Black Eye. Though he cannot use its power directly, he replicates an ocular technique that can locate the Ten-Tails across space-time.
  • In another dimension, the Ten-Tails releases a humanoid clone created through Isshiki’s power and a new application of karma. The clone regains its will, inherits Isshiki’s remaining power, and vows to punish their enemy. Ensei finds the Ten-Tails just as the clone completes its transformation.

Character developments and interactions

  • Tsunade gains the Wood Release she had long hoped for, but its sudden arrival leaves her conflicted.
  • Hashirama remains secretive about how he first awakened Wood Release, while readily helping Tsunade by sharing senjutsu chakra.
  • Madara’s grief at Hashirama’s quiet death coexists with acceptance: after defeating his old rival, he believes he has escaped the influence of his clan’s bloodline and Indra’s chakra.
  • Ensei’s curiosity shifts from copying Isshiki’s eyes to understanding Yin–Yang Release and finding practical uses for the eye technique he can reproduce.

Significant themes

  • Legacy and succession: Madara embraces Hashirama’s belief that the next generation carries hope forward.
  • Life and death: Hashirama’s body remains biologically alive despite his death, challenging what “life force” and Yang Release mean.
  • Power and inheritance: Tsunade’s awakening and Isshiki’s empowered clone show that abilities can manifest differently or be passed on in unexpected ways.
  • Fate and unresolved conflict: Indra’s chakra has already reincarnated, while the new Isshiki-derived clone creates another looming threat.

Ch. 193The Ten-Tails? Like You're the Only One Who Has One

Summary

  • Ensei tracks down Isshiki’s Ten-Tails using Isshiki’s Black Eye, but finds a pale figure already absorbing it. Ensei briefly traps him with Kyōka Suigetsu, yet arrives too late to stop the absorption.
  • The figure identifies himself as Code, who inherited Isshiki’s will. Ensei immediately attacks, destroys Code’s head, and attempts to seal him—but the seal breaks apart. Code regenerates, revealing that his apparent body is only a shell and his consciousness resides within the Ten-Tails.
  • Code explains that he could not serve as Isshiki’s reincarnation vessel: his body is too similar to the Ten-Tails, which would have consumed Isshiki. He answers Ensei’s questions calmly and confidently, while Ensei privately wonders whether he himself comes across as similarly self-assured.
  • Concluding that Code has not yet fully merged with the Ten-Tails, Ensei summons two imitation Ten-Tails Jinchūriki, then uses Limbo: Border Jail to restrain Code with nine clones. Concealed by Kyōka Suigetsu, they give Ensei time to apply the Phantom Dragon Nine Seals, which suppresses the Ten-Tails’ power and disrupts Code’s integration.
  • Code eventually senses the Ten-Tails’ restraints, but Ensei judges that his resistance is limited. Ensei considers using Kotoamatsukami to control him, then hesitates because of the uncertain, symbiotic bond between Code and the Ten-Tails.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei remains strategic and adaptable, combining illusion, sealing, clones, and misdirection rather than relying on a single attack. He is also cautious: despite believing Code may be less powerful than he appears, he recognizes the risks of controlling him.
  • Code presents himself as a devoted inheritor of Isshiki’s will. His regeneration and connection to the Ten-Tails make him a formidable, unusual opponent, though his incomplete integration may limit him for now.
  • Their exchange is marked by mutual confidence: Code answers Ensei’s questions without apparent concern, while Ensei probes for weaknesses and tests his assumptions through battle.

Significant themes

  • Power and control: Ensei’s techniques can restrain Code, but the Ten-Tails’ influence complicates any attempt to dominate him.
  • Adaptation and strategy: Ensei counters a dangerous opponent by layering techniques and exploiting timing, perception, and incomplete transformation.
  • Inheritance and identity: Code defines himself through Isshiki’s legacy, while his body and consciousness are entangled with the Ten-Tails.
  • Uncertainty beneath appearances: Code’s seemingly overwhelming strength may be limited by his unfinished merger, and Ensei’s apparent control may not be as secure as it seems.

Ch. 194I've come for the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and those hundred thousand White Zetsu. Will you hand them over?

Key plot points

  • Uchiha Ensei explains that Code is an artificial puppet rather than a complete human, so Isshiki cannot resurrect through him using karma.
  • Ensei’s attempt to extract the Ten-Tails from Code reveals a problem: the Ten-Tails is a biological weapon that absorbs natural energy, not merely a mass of chakra. His sealing technique drains its chakra without removing the creature, and the seemingly endless chakra begins to strain Ensei’s temporary seal.
  • Code insists that he inherited Isshiki’s will and will become a god. Ensei challenges him, pointing out that Isshiki is still alive and Code may have no will of his own.
  • To stop the situation from getting out of control, Ensei uses Isshiki’s copied Black Eye ability to trap Code and the Ten-Tails in a sealing cauldron. He sends it into Obito’s Kamui dimension, whose access point is Obito’s recovered Mangekyō Sharingan.
  • Ensei then seeks a suitable container for the enormous amount of chakra he has absorbed. He travels to the Land of Dawn and asks Madara to give him the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and the hundred thousand White Zetsu.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei is resourceful but increasingly wary: his plan to drain the Ten-Tails has created a dangerous chakra-storage problem, and he is unsure whether the cauldron can safely contain it. He also chooses to be candid with Madara about the threat he faces.
  • Code briefly falters when Ensei tells him Isshiki is still alive, exposing uncertainty beneath his confident claims of godhood.
  • Madara is busy building the new world order and appears tired, though glad to see Ensei. Rather than refusing Ensei’s request, he asks whether the threat Ensei previously mentioned has arrived.
  • Their exchange is direct and trusting: Ensei makes an urgent request, and Madara seeks the context needed to understand it.

Significant themes

  • Personhood and agency: The chapter contrasts genuine humans with artificial beings such as Code, raising doubts about whether someone created to serve another can possess an independent will.
  • Power and risk: Ensei’s attempt to control the Ten-Tails’ immense chakra shows how power can become dangerous even to the person wielding it.
  • Trust and responsibility: Ensei shares information with Madara and turns to him for resources as an extraterrestrial threat looms.

Ch. 195Is Nagato Still Alive?

Key plot points and events

  • Ensei tells Madara about Ōtsutsuki Isshiki and the danger posed by the clan, leaving Madara shaken by the vast gap between their power and his own.
  • Ensei clarifies that Isshiki’s contingency is sealed for now and that he has no immediate plan to create the Ten-Tails. He asks Madara for the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and the White Zetsu.
  • Madara, aware that he is nearing death, is willing to give them up—but warns Ensei that Black Zetsu once sealed someone inside the statue.
  • Ensei realizes the person is Nagato, whom he had assumed was dead after using Rinne Rebirth. He also worries that Black Zetsu may have escaped his seal.
  • Ensei travels to the statue using Madara’s Flying Thunder God. He senses natural energy being absorbed and a faint life within the statue, confirming Nagato may still be alive.
  • He collects a few dozen White Zetsu but stops when he realizes they need sustenance and cannot survive indefinitely without it. He then uses his nine-Tomoe Sharingan to take control of the statue—surprisingly, the transfer succeeds almost instantly.

Character developments and interactions

  • Madara confronts his age and limits after learning more about the Ōtsutsuki, and shows less interest in his former ambitions as death approaches. He cooperates with Ensei but cautions him about Nagato.
  • Ensei remains confident and pragmatic, though he recognizes that many enemies have left dangerous contingencies behind. He is wary of revealing too much or giving others leverage over him.
  • Their exchange is blunt and impatient: Ensei presses Madara for the resources, while Madara complains about Ensei’s lack of respect but ultimately helps him.
  • Nagato is revealed to be potentially alive, while Black Zetsu’s whereabouts and involvement remain uncertain.

Significant themes

  • The limits of power and age: Madara’s confidence is shaken by the Ōtsutsuki, and he recognizes that his own life is nearly over.
  • Hidden contingencies and mistrust: Past enemies’ schemes continue to create threats, reinforcing Ensei’s distrust and caution.
  • Power versus responsibility: Ensei wants the White Zetsu as resources but must first address their dependence on the statue and its natural energy.
  • Uncertainty beyond the expected story: Nagato’s possible survival and the easy transfer of control suggest that events differ from what Ensei anticipated.

Ch. 196Means of Resurrection

Summary of “Means of Resurrection”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Uchiha Ensei examines the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path after gaining complete control over it, confirming that it appears obedient and unaltered.
  • He releases Nagato from the statue and determines that Nagato’s life force is rapidly deteriorating, leaving him fewer than three days to live.
  • Ensei questions Madara about Nagato’s imprisonment. Madara reveals that Nagato was intended as a backup means of resurrection if Madara’s original plan failed.
  • Madara exposes that Nagato’s Rinnegan are false reflections containing a Transcription Seal for the Rinne Rebirth technique. This explains why the ocular power in the Rinnegan previously given to Ensei was quickly exhausted.
  • Ensei offers Madara a counterfeit Ten-Tails Jinchūriki to help sustain him, but Madara refuses, accepting that his resurrection cannot last forever and that his dream has already been fulfilled.
  • Madara crushes Nagato to death, apparently eliminating the last obstacle. Ensei collects the Demonic Statue and all 100,000 White Zetsu, storing them in a Kamui dimension.
  • After Ensei leaves, Black Zetsu emerges, absorbs Nagato’s remains, and reveals that Kaguya’s resurrection is nearly complete.
  • In Kumogakure, Ensei obtains the village’s two Six Paths Tools from the Fourth Raikage and modifies them into empty chakra containers by removing their original abilities.
  • He reinforces the containers with complex sealing techniques, recruiting Kushina, Minato, and Tsunade in Konoha to help complete the work.
  • Before the seal within his own body collapses, Ensei finishes the containers and prepares to transfer his stored chakra into them.

Character Developments

  • Uchiha Ensei: Becomes increasingly cautious and pragmatic. He abandons the Demonic Statue as a chakra vessel after recognizing the danger surrounding Nagato and instead creates safer replacement containers. Although he once wanted Madara dead, he now values Madara as useful labor and seeks to prolong his survival.
  • Madara Uchiha: Reveals his long-standing contingency plan involving Nagato and accepts the impermanence of his resurrection. His calm acceptance of death contrasts with his earlier manipulation and ambition.
  • Nagato: Is revealed to have been used as a disposable vessel for Madara’s potential resurrection. His weakened condition leaves him helpless, and Madara ultimately kills him.
  • Black Zetsu: Demonstrates his ability to evade Ensei’s perception and secretly advances Kaguya’s resurrection after Nagato’s death.
  • Kushina, Minato, and Tsunade: Support Ensei by contributing their sealing expertise, showing cooperation in his preparations.

Significant Themes

  • Manipulation and contingency plans: Nagato’s body and Rinnegan were prepared as tools in Madara’s backup plan, emphasizing how powerful characters treat others as instruments.
  • Resurrection and mortality: Madara’s refusal of another artificial extension of life highlights the temporary nature of resurrection and the inevitability of death.
  • Hidden agendas and deception: Black Zetsu’s concealment and Madara’s secret seals reinforce the danger of unseen plans.
  • Power versus security: Ensei chooses reliable containers over the more powerful Demonic Statue, prioritizing control and safety over raw strength.
  • Cooperation and dependence: Despite his immense power, Ensei requires the assistance of others—particularly for advanced sealing techniques—to complete his plan.

Character Interactions

  • Ensei interrogates Madara about Nagato’s purpose and the origins of the false Rinnegan.
  • Madara explains his resurrection contingency but rejects Ensei’s offer of a counterfeit Ten-Tails vessel.
  • Madara kills Nagato while Ensei observes and investigates the aftermath.
  • Ensei later works with Kushina, Minato, and Tsunade to convert the Six Paths Tools into chakra-storage vessels.
  • Black Zetsu remains hidden from Ensei, appearing only after his departure to claim Nagato’s body for Kaguya’s impending resurrection.

Ch. 197What the Hell Is This Thing? Why Is It Stronger Than Isshiki Himself?

Key plot points and events

  • Ensei finishes containing the threat sealed inside his body and stores an unused sealing gourd in the Kamui Dimension. He refuses to use chakra forcibly taken from the Ten-Tails until he has dealt with it.
  • He returns to the Kamui Dimension and releases the seal on Code and the Ten-Tails. Code has fused with the Ten-Tails and possesses a genuine Rinnegan.
  • Ensei sends nine Limbo clones to test Code. The clones’ attacks reveal that Code cannot see them, but his mysterious ability reflects attacks aimed at him with killing intent.
  • Ensei quickly figures out how to bypass the ability and copies it, naming it Killing Intent Backlash. The clones injure Code, whose wounds heal rapidly.
  • Code releases chakra to sense the otherwise imperceptible clones and fights all nine with surprising strength. Ensei is shocked that Code seems even stronger than Isshiki and decides to end the fight before the situation worsens.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei remains cautious and analytical, testing Code rather than rushing into battle. His confidence falters when Code proves capable of fighting nine Limbo clones, and he prepares to use Kyōka Suigetsu.
  • Code is boastful and reveres the power Isshiki left him, calling himself invincible. His confidence erodes as Ensei’s clones repeatedly hurt him, though his Ten-Tails-enhanced strength and rapid healing make him a serious opponent.
  • Ensei and Code trade taunts: Code dismisses Ensei as insignificant, while Ensei mocks Code’s claim of invincibility and studies his abilities.

Significant themes

  • Power and overconfidence: Code’s grand claims contrast with his vulnerability, while his actual strength proves more formidable than Ensei expects.
  • Adaptation and strategy: Ensei counters a seemingly unbeatable ability by identifying its condition—killing intent—and copying it.
  • Uncertainty and escalating danger: Code’s unexplained strength raises questions about Isshiki’s legacy and leaves Ensei wary of what may happen if the fight continues.

Ch. 198Learning from Orochimaru, of All People...

Plot points and events

  • Ensei uses his Nine-Tomoe Sharingan to trap Code with sensory genjutsu and the enhanced Kotoamatsukami, then immobilizes him with Limbo clones and a sealing formula.
  • While inspecting Code, Ensei discovers that his genes are older—and apparently genetically superior—to Isshiki’s, suggesting Code may be Isshiki’s ancestor rather than a conventional clone. Ensei also removes one of Code’s Rinnegan for examination.
  • The seal breaks, and Code transforms into a Ten-Tails Jinchūriki. Ensei counters with his own Sage-powered chakra robe and Truth-Seeking Orbs, overpowering Code.
  • Code sheds an empty body and attempts to escape through space-time techniques, but Ensei pulls him back with Amenotejikara and restrains him with Truth-Seeking Black Rods.
  • Ensei removes Code’s remaining Rinnegan, extracts the Ten-Tails, and seals it in a gourd. Deprived of its power, Code’s body withers.

Character developments

  • Ensei demonstrates confidence, tactical adaptability, and a willingness to experiment—even examining Code’s genes and taking his eyes. He adjusts when sensory genjutsu proves ineffective and ultimately relies on overwhelming Sage power.
  • Code is revealed to be unusually ancient in genetic terms and capable of using Ten-Tails power, but he is outmatched. His skin-shedding escape trick recalls Orochimaru.

Significant themes

  • Power and adaptation: Ensei succeeds by changing tactics when one ability fails.
  • Identity and lineage: The genetic findings complicate the relationship between Code and Isshiki.
  • Control and exploitation: Ensei treats Code and the Ten-Tails as sources of information and power, forcibly taking both Rinnegan and the Ten-Tails.

Character interactions

  • Ensei taunts Code about his apparent lack of will and mocks his escape technique as an imitation of Orochimaru’s skin-shedding trick.
  • Their confrontation becomes a contest of abilities: Code’s Ten-Tails transformation and escape techniques against Ensei’s Sage Mode, Truth-Seeking Orbs, and space-time manipulation.

Ch. 199I'm Not Code, but I'm Not the Ten-Tails Either

Key plot points and events

  • Uchiha Ensei dissects the dead Code, whose body seems partly fused with the Ten-Tails. Code dies without his soul being drawn into the Pure Land.
  • Ensei revives Code’s body with One’s Own Life Reincarnation, confirming that the body is only a soulless shell. He extracts an unusual type of cell and seals the remains.
  • Suspecting Code’s soul is connected to the Ten-Tails, Ensei releases the Ten-Tails he had sealed inside the Six Paths Tools. He reflects that the creature was brought to the Ninja World as part of the Ōtsutsuki plan to produce a Divine Tree Fruit.
  • The Ten-Tails does not respond to Ensei. To test it—and perhaps destroy a power he cannot trust—he attacks it with Amaterasu. He observes that the flames consume chakra, which explains why they are often less effective against powerful targets.
  • A man emerges from the Ten-Tails, uses its chakra to cast off the flames, and identifies himself as Jura, saying he is neither Code nor exactly the Ten-Tails.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei shows his usual mix of scientific curiosity and caution: he investigates Code’s unusual body, tests the Ten-Tails, and is willing to discard a dangerous ability rather than risk losing control of it.
  • Jura appears to be a distinct being tied to the Ten-Tails, possibly connected to Code’s missing soul. His emergence turns Ensei’s experiment into a direct encounter.
  • Their first interaction is tense and probing: Ensei mocks Jura and asks what he is and whether killing him would reveal another entity; Jura answers only with his name and ambiguous identity.

Significant themes

  • Identity and embodiment: Code’s body can be revived without its soul, raising questions about where the self resides—and what Jura is.
  • Control versus danger: Ensei’s power does not guarantee complete authority over the Ten-Tails, so he tests it before trusting it.
  • Experimentation and discovery: Ensei uses dissection, resurrection, and combat to uncover the hidden relationship between Code and the Ten-Tails.
  • Power’s limitations: Amaterasu is formidable in principle but behaves differently against chakra-rich targets, illustrating how abilities depend on their specific mechanics.

Ch. 200I Want the Intel, but I Want Him Dead Too

Key plot points and events

  • Uchiha Ensei uses the Ten-Tails to tear Jura from its head and crush him. Jura reforms, explaining that he is a byproduct of Isshiki’s forbidden experiments and offering information about the Ōtsutsuki.
  • Ensei keeps Jura’s senses under Kyōka Suigetsu, while a Wood Clone secretly inscribes a sealing formula on him.
  • Jura claims Code was cloned from the cells of Ōtsutsuki Yame, a near-divine member of the clan, which would explain Code’s strength. Ensei listens but doubts whether Jura is telling the truth.
  • Jura refuses to reveal everything without some assurance of safety. Ensei instead completes the seal, cutting Jura off from his chakra.
  • Ensei uses the Human Path ability of the Rinnegan to extract Jura’s soul. He senses Code within it, apparently absorbed through a fusion, and injects Natural Energy into the soul to destroy it.
  • While the soul deteriorates, Ensei reads Jura’s memories. Jura briefly regains his senses and accuses Ensei of forcing him to act. Ensei teleports away in anticipation of a counterattack, but finds only Jura’s body and the inert Ten-Tails. He detects a trace of Jura’s shattered soul and believes Jura is dead.

Character developments and interactions

  • Ensei prioritizes self-preservation over information, despite his strong interest in Ōtsutsuki secrets. He uses deception, sealing, soul extraction, and Natural Energy rather than trust Jura or risk an open fight.
  • Jura tries to bargain by offering information, then threatens to resist when Ensei refuses to guarantee his safety. His final accusation suggests he may have been compelled into some action, though nothing follows immediately.
  • Their relationship is entirely adversarial: Jura seeks leverage and survival, while Ensei treats him as a source of intelligence to exploit and eliminate.

Significant themes

  • Knowledge versus trust: Ensei wants Jura’s information but never believes cooperation is safe.
  • Control and coercion: Ensei’s illusion and seal keep Jura unaware and powerless, turning negotiation into a trap.
  • Escalating threats: Ensei’s concerns about future Ōtsutsuki arrivals underline the growing danger and uncertainty surrounding the clan.
  • Power rooted in the world: Natural Energy is presented as a particularly effective weapon against Ōtsutsuki beings.
