Background / History
Tang San enters Notting Academy as a work-study student with Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power. His unusual martial soul and soul power lead Chen Qingling to suspect that he possesses Twin Martial Souls. He quickly clashes with her after resenting her refusal to help him at the academy gate. 17
He challenges Chen Qingling twice for the work-study dormitory's top position. In their first spar, he uses Tang Sect hidden weapons; in the second, he relies on his newly acquired First Soul Skill and Ghost Shadow Perplexing Step, but Chen Qingling immobilizes and defeats him with a talisman. 17 25 26
Tang San develops an unreciprocated fixation on Xiao Wu. Her repeated rejection, alongside Wang Sheng's hostility and Chen Qingling's rapid growth, deepens his resentment and isolation from the other work-study students. 26 29 55
Tang Hao later reveals that Tang San's second martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer of the Clear Sky School, warning him to keep it secret. Tang Hao also opposes Tang San's feelings for Xiao Wu after identifying her as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. 42
After deciding that he wants greater status and cultivation resources, Tang San joins Spirit Hall despite Tang Hao's objections. Su Yuntao offers him a medicinal bath to improve his body and soul-ring absorption, while Tang San chooses to leave his father and follow his own path. 70
His fixation on Xiao Wu escalates into violence against her friends. Chen Xin subdues him with Titled Douluo pressure, and Tang San is later severely injured; the academy healer declares that he and Dai Mubai are permanently crippled following a later incident. 77 78 156
Tang San begins a revenge campaign against Wang Sheng, murdering Wang Sheng's parents and attempting to kill Wang Sheng himself. Tang Hao intervenes before he can finish the attack. The resulting outrage leads to Tang San's suspension from Notting Academy, after which Spirit Hall offers him admission to its academy. 113 114 115
When Chen Qingling confronts him at Spirit Hall over Wang Sheng's parents, Tang San provokes her while relying on Tang Hao's protection. He subsequently reveals the Slaughter God Domain, leading Tang Hao to question his son's true identity. 134 135
Tang San later returns secretly to Notting City and coerces his former master Yu Xiaogang into writing him a recommendation letter for Shrek Academy. He then travels to Soto City, where he fights Dai Mubai and continues blaming Chen Qingling for his circumstances. 141 143
During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang San faces Chen Qingling. His Clear Sky Hammer is shattered by her Light Butterfly Blades, and Xiao Wu cripples his fingers in retaliation for his crimes against Wang Sheng and Dugu Bo. Tang San escapes only by using a final trump card: power from the Abyss Plane. 228 229 230
He establishes Holy Soul Village as a base for spreading Abyssal Power, causing the deaths of seventeen villagers and transforming others into Abyssal Creatures. He later uses Cypress Village as an experimental field to observe how Abyssal Power stimulates ordinary people's darker impulses and mutates their martial souls. 239 262
Personality
Tang San is competitive, resentful, and highly sensitive to humiliation. He repeatedly interprets Chen Qingling's victories and Xiao Wu's rejection as personal grievances, then directs blame toward Chen Qingling rather than accepting responsibility for his conduct. 26 104 143 238
He is determined and resourceful in pursuit of power, seeking Spirit Hall resources, planning to resurrect his mother, and pursuing methods to save Tang Chen. However, this pragmatism increasingly becomes ruthlessness: he targets Wang Sheng's family, exploits Abyssal Power despite civilian deaths, and conducts experiments on villagers. 70 113 140 239 262
