Background / History

Tang San lived and studied at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy with Xiao Wu. By the time Gu En arrived in Nuoding City, Tang San was cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Technique and acting as Xiao Wu’s protector. Gu En had already identified him as a potential threat because of his twin martial souls, Clear Sky Hammer, and Tang Sect secret arts. 17 20

Gu En confronted Tang San to seize Xiao Wu after exposing her identity as a hundred-thousand-year Soft-Boned Rabbit in human form. Tang San tried to defend her with concealed weapons and later prepared to use his Clear Sky Hammer, but Gu En neutralized his sleeve arrows through spatial distortion and badly injured him with spatial pressure. 20 21

During the confrontation, Dugu Bo accused Tang Hao of deliberately arranging Tang San’s relationship with Xiao Wu so that she could eventually become Tang San’s soul ring and soul bone. Tang San denied knowing either Xiao Wu’s identity or Tang Hao’s status as a Titled Douluo, but Xiao Wu’s trust in him collapsed under the accusation. 22

Tang Hao intervened to save his son, but Gu Rong, Chen Xin, and Dugu Bo overwhelmed him. Gu En used Tang San as leverage to force Tang Hao into unleashing Ring Detonation; Tang Hao ultimately escaped with the unconscious Tang San after losing his left arm and destroying his remaining soul rings. 23 24

Tang San carried Tang Hao to Moon Pavilion in Heaven Dou City, where Tang Yuehua recognized Tang Hao as her brother and accepted Tang San as her nephew. Spirit Hall subsequently issued continent-wide wanted notices for both father and son after being deceived into believing Tang Hao had killed Yu Xiaogang. 27 28 29

While Tang Hao remained incapacitated, Tang San learned that his mother, A Yin, had been a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor who sacrificed herself for Tang Hao. The revelation deepened his doubts about Tang Hao’s past and about the nature of his own relationship with Xiao Wu. 36

After awakening, Tang Hao warned Tang San that A Yin’s true body and her hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone were hidden behind a waterfall southwest of Holy Soul Village. Tang San promised to recover them, while also receiving Tang Hao’s denial that he had killed Yu Xiaogang. 37

Appearance

Tang San is a boy of about ten with neat short hair and ordinary features. Spirit Hall’s wanted notice records a small mole near the corner of his mouth and slightly upturned eyes. 29

Personality

Tang San is fiercely protective of Xiao Wu. Even after Gu En’s bloodline pressure injured him and exposed the overwhelming difference in their strength, he continued to stand between Gu En and Xiao Wu and attempted to attack when she was coerced into leaving. 20 21

He is stubborn and proud under humiliation. At Moon Pavilion, he refused charity and insisted that he and Tang Hao were not beggars, despite being too exhausted and weakened to retaliate against the guards and nobles insulting them. 27

The events in Nuoding City leave him fearful, confused, and increasingly resentful. Xiao Wu’s capture, Tang Hao’s crippling, Spirit Hall’s wanted notice, and doubts about his father’s motives turn his earlier confidence into bitterness and a desire for revenge against Gu En, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and Spirit Hall. 27 29 30 36

Break with Xiao Wu

Dugu Bo’s allegation that Tang Hao had cultivated Xiao Wu as a future sacrifice fractures Tang San and Xiao Wu’s bond. Tang San insists he knew nothing, but Xiao Wu rejects him in fear and distrust. 22

Tang Hao’s defeat

Gu En uses Tang San’s life to compel Tang Hao into detonating his soul rings. Tang Hao escapes with Tang San but loses an arm, suffers catastrophic injuries, and becomes unable to use soul power. 23 24 29

Moon Pavilion exile
