In the Star Dou Great Forest, he saves Zhu Zhuqing and then intervenes as the Imperial Dou Team is attacked, where he recognizes the giant Soul Beast’s Silence ability.

• Gu Ling challenged Yu Xiaogang’s defensive plan for the Bone Dragon and declared that he would pursue an extreme assault path.
• Gu Ling demonstrated the Bone Dragon’s offensive potential, rejected Yu Xiaogang as a teacher, and asked Director Su to help him find an offensive First Soul Ring.

Gu Ling joined the Imperial Dou Team, displayed his growing strength in battles, and clashed with Shrek Academy’s students and Flender. The arc ended with the Shrek Seven Monsters preparing to face the Imperial Dou Team, with Gu Ling among their opponents.

• Gu Ling killed the Earthbone Demon Armor Beast and absorbed its five-thousand-year Soul Ring as his third, gaining a bone-spike cage skill that could also disrupt Soul Power.
• Qin Ming recruited Gu Ling to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, where he joined the Imperial Dou Team and quickly established an undefeated record.
• Gu Ling and Ye Lingling defeated Yu Tianheng and Dugu Yan, drawing the attention of Ning Fengzhi, Gu Rong, and Xue Qinghe, though Gu Ling declined to join the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.

• Tang San led Shrek into battle against the Imperial Dou Team, but Gu Ling entered the fight late and eliminated Ning Rongrong and Oscar, helping his team break Shrek’s formation.
• The Imperial Dou Team defeated Shrek, and Gu Ling challenged Yu Xiaogang’s accusations and claims about his theories while Qin Ming and Yu Tianheng defended the fairness of the match.
• After Yu Xiaogang refused Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s offer unless Gu Ling was expelled, Gu Ling traveled to Sunset Forest and crossed Dugu Bo’s poison formation to reach the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
• Gu Ling gathered Immortal Grade Herbs, warned Dugu Bo about his hereditary poison, and agreed to treat Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan in exchange for a year of protection.

Gu Ling and Tang San clashed over Dugu Bo’s Medicine Garden, drawing Dugu Bo into a battle that cost Yu Xiaogang Luo Sanpao’s Golden Holy Dragon origin. Gu Ling gained Gu Rong as his master and helped bring Ning Rongrong toward the Imperial Fighting Team, while Tang San returned to the garden for the buried Lingzhi and began testing them on his teammates.

• Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan absorbed rare herbs, and Gu Ling set out with Ye Lingling to find her a Fourth Soul Ring in Sunset Forest.
• Tang San fell into the hidden Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and began harvesting herbs, but Gu Ling and Ye Lingling caught him in Dugu Bo’s Medicine Garden and demanded he return them.
• Gu Ling defeated Tang San and took his medicine pouch, then fought Liu Erlong and Yu Xiaogang after Flender and the others arrived to defend Tang San.
• Dugu Bo returned and battled the Shrek group, then extracted Luo Sanpao’s Golden Holy Dragon origin before allowing Yu Xiaogang, Liu Erlong, Flender, and Tang San to leave.
• Ye Lingling absorbed a Fourth Soul Ring from an Azure Jade Spirit Deer and became a Soul Ancestor, while Gu Ling and Dugu Bo harvested the garden and buried a Crimson Marrow Lingzhi to tempt Tang San.
