Background

Sea Dragon is Haiming’s grandfather. When Haiming was born, the normally calm sea churned and countless sea creatures surfaced and cried toward the sky; Sea Dragon named him Haiming in response to the omen and his expectations for the boy’s future 1.

He serves at the Sea Dragon Divine Pillar and personally conducts martial-soul awakenings. He retrieves Haiming for his awakening after the boy forgets the ceremony, then is stunned when Kyogre manifests as Haiming’s conscious martial soul 1 2.

Sea Dragon initially objects when Bo Saixi orders six-year-old Haiming to undertake the Sea God assessment. After Haiming receives the Sea God’s Nine Trials, however, he supports his grandson’s cultivation while remaining concerned about the burden placed on him 2 3 7.

Haiming’s Awakening

Sea Dragon brings Haiming to the Sea Dragon Divine Pillar for his martial-soul awakening. He is shocked when Kyogre manifests with a divine aura that exceeds his own, then witnesses Haiming receive the Sea God’s Nine Trials 1 2.

Early Sea God Trials

Though he cannot remain beside Haiming throughout the forbidden-ground training, Sea Dragon monitors his progress closely and is astonished when Haiming gains fifteen levels in one year, reaching approximately level 35.5 7.

He later helps Haiming acquire the jade pendant connected to the Seven Treasure Glazed Sect, insisting that the merchant accept payment rather than surrender it for free 8 9.

Soul-Bone Hunt

At Bo Saixi’s request, Sea Dragon escorts Haiming and Little White to hunt hostile sea soul beasts for Soul Bones. He identifies the ninety-thousand-year Eight-headed Belcher as their first target, explains its biology and history of betrayal, and refuses to let Haiming challenge it directly 13.

Sea Dragon kills the Belcher with Divine Dragon Skybreak and gives its complete right-arm Soul Bone to Haiming 14. He later attempts to help Haiming compress his soul power, only to learn from Kyogre that Haiming’s meridians were already expanded to their limit 15.

Sawtooth Shark Hunt and First Blood

Sea Dragon locates a wounded sixty-thousand-year Sawtooth Shark by using his own blood as bait. He orders Haiming to fight independently while he and Little White observe, intervening only through the controlled battlefield conditions 16.

When hostile soul masters attempt to seize Haiming’s Soul Bone, Sea Dragon allows Haiming to kill their leader himself, then eliminates the remaining injured attackers. He explains that the experience was intended to expose Haiming to the harshness of the wider soul master world 20.

Waterfall City Rescue

Sea Dragon accompanies Haiming and Little White to Waterfall City. When Zhu Zhuqing is pursued by a Soul Emperor and two Soul Kings, he defeats the two Soul Kings immediately and protects Haiming while Little White pursues the fleeing Soul Emperor 21 22.
