Hai Ming strengthened his soul skills and body through training and Soul Bones while pursuing the Sea God’s first trial. After reaching the summit of Sea God’s Mountain, he left Zhu Zhuqing recovering in Waterfall City, where she began reconsidering her escape and her fiancé.

• Hai Ming awakened Sea Emperor Kyogre, received the Sea God’s Nine Trials, and began climbing Sea God’s Mountain under its crushing light.
• Hai Ming trained with Bo Saixi, raised his Soul Power, and learned that acquiring Soul Bones could help him overcome the trial’s limit.
• Sea Dragon Douluo killed the Eight-headed Belcher, and Hai Ming absorbed its hundred-thousand-year right arm Soul Bone.
• Hai Ming killed a Sawtooth Shark, extracted its left leg Soul Bone, and survived a dispute among the shark hunters that Little White helped end.
• Hai Ming rescued Zhu Zhuqing from people sent by Zhu Zhuyun, then left her in the care of Qian Yin and Qian Yu in Waterfall City.

Hai Ming passed three Sea God trials, gained powerful abilities, and traveled to the mainland, where he reunited with Zhu Zhuqing and became entangled with the Shrek Seven Monsters. After defeating them in a spar, he revealed the overwhelming power of his four Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Rings.

• Zhu Zhuqing left Waterfall City for the Heaven Dou Empire, while Qian Yu and Qian Yin followed her with their father to protect her.
• Hai Ming endured the Bloodrays of the Ring Sea, used his Divine Blood to kill them, and completed the Sea God's second trial.
• Hai Ming survived the Raging Waves Deadland for 108 days, passed the third trial, absorbed a Deep-Sea Void Whale right leg bone, and learned that his next task involved Slaughter City and the King of Slaughter.
• Poseidon changed Hai Ming's fourth trial so he would rescue Tang Chen, whose soul Shura said had been corrupted, and Shura also asked Hai Ming to find him an inheritor.
• Hai Ming traveled to the mainland, killed Shi Nian after resisting his illusion, and met Huo Yu and Shui Wutian, who gave him academy tokens.
• Ning Fengzhi recognized his late wife's Jade Pendant on Hai Ming's folding fan, and Hai Ming traded it to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect for a favor and Sword Douluo's help.
• Hai Ming reunited with Zhu Zhuqing and watched the Shrek Seven Monsters defeat the Imperial Battle Team, then gave Ning Rongrong the Jade Pendant and a letter.
• Hai Ming challenged the Shrek Seven Monsters to a spar, outmaneuvered them with Teleportation, revealed his Giant Whale Martial Soul and four Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Rings, and knocked out all seven with his Aura Sphere.

Hai Ming gathered power from the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, survived Slaughter City’s Hell Road, and returned to Sea God Island. As Shrek’s team headed to the tournament, attackers ambushed them, and Hai Ming arrived to confront Loldia.

• Hai Ming left Shrek to seek Chen Xin’s help, then helped stop Dugu Bo’s attack on Heaven Dou Royal Academy and negotiated access to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well.
• Hai Ming collected Immortal Herbs, received the Splash Plate and Flame Slate, and used their power to strengthen himself before entering Slaughter City.
• Hai Ming fought his way through Slaughter City’s arena, rejected the King of Slaughter’s offer, and entered Hell Road.
• Hai Ming defeated the Three-Headed Bat King and the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent, crossed the Blood Lake, and emerged with Divine Slaughter’s Domain.
• Chen Xin met Hai Ming outside Slaughter City and told him that Ning Rongrong had evolved her Martial Soul into the Nine-Treasure Glazed Pagoda.
• Hai Ming returned to Sea God Island, began absorbing two God-Bestowed Soul Rings, and told Bo Saixi that Tang Chen was neither human nor ghost.
• Shrek’s team won the preliminary round and set out for Spirit City, but black-clad attackers ambushed the Soul Master teams and Dugu Bo and Chen Xin engaged Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo.
• Hai Ming struck down Loldia, then nearly overwhelmed him with Hyper Beam as his six blood-red Soul Rings stunned the watching fighters.

Hai Ming protected Shrek Academy through the Spirit City tournament, then escorted Hu Liena and Zhu Zhuqing into Slaughter City. After Zhu Zhuqing fought her way through the arena and gained strength from an immortal herb, Hai Ming took her out to pursue her fourth Soul Ring.

• Hai Ming survived Ghost Douluo’s attack and helped Chen Xin drive Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo away, then joined the group in Spirit City.
• Hai Ming revealed his six scarlet Soul Rings when Zhu Zhuyun confronted Zhu Zhuqing, and he later resisted Bibi Dong’s domain after defeating a golden-haired elder who challenged him.
• Shrek Academy defeated Star Luo Royal Academy after Tang San shattered the Hell White Tiger with his Clear Sky Hammer, and Tang San later led the team to victory over Martial Soul Academy in the final.
• Bibi Dong asked Hai Ming to guide Hu Liena through Slaughter City, and Hai Ming accepted a Soul Bone before inviting Zhu Zhuqing to travel with him.
• Hai Ming brought Hu Liena and Zhu Zhuqing into Slaughter City by a shortcut, where the two women fought their way past the knight commanders and entered the Inner City.
• Hai Ming guided Zhu Zhuqing through Slaughter City and encouraged her to develop her Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul, while warning Hu Liena that Bloody Mary contained poison.
• Zhu Zhuqing survived a brutal Hell Slaughter Arena match, and Hai Ming gave her an Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid that helped her break through to level forty.
• Hai Ming took Zhu Zhuqing out of Slaughter City and told her that the herb and her Soul Bone would let her attempt a Soul Ring close to ten thousand years.
