Background

Yu Xiaogang is the son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s leader. Tang Hao states that Xiaogang was expelled from the clan because of his poor talent and an unspecified mistake. His low cultivation and exile became enduring sources of shame and insecurity. 25

Before arriving at Notting Academy, Xiaogang had built a reputation around martial-soul theory. He claimed to have researched numerous tool martial souls and presented himself as unmatched in theory, despite having remained at level 29 beyond the age of fifty. 4

He also cited his past relationship with Bibi Dong and claimed that her Twin Martial Souls had been cultivated successfully under his guidance, using this claim to defend his qualifications before Tang Hao. 7

Appearance

Before his mutation, Xiaogang is a bearded, buzz-cut middle-aged man. 4 After the Soul Hunting Forest incident, Luo Sanpao changes from a detached beast martial soul into a possession-type martial soul, drastically altering his appearance. 8

Personality

Xiaogang is ambitious, proud of his theoretical knowledge, and eager to validate his ideas through talented disciples. He sought to recruit Lu Yuan not only because of the latter’s Innate Full Soul Power, but also because Lu Yuan could serve as a test subject for his unproven theories and potentially raise Xiaogang’s reputation. 4

His confidence is fragile when confronted with his own limitations. Lu Yuan’s public criticism of his level-29 cultivation provokes him into demanding Lu Yuan’s expulsion, while Tang Hao’s anger over Tang San’s ten-year Soul Ring drives him to bluff and invoke Bibi Dong to protect himself. 5 7 8

Years of humiliation, clan rejection, and the loss of his Martial Soul Fusion Skill ultimately turn his resentment into vengeance. After accidentally draining two children to death, Xiaogang consciously accepts becoming an Evil Soul Master as a means to gain power. 26

Luo Sanpao

Xiaogang’s original mutated beast martial soul was Luo Sanpao, initially a detached purple-skinned boar-like spirit. Its abilities required white radishes to function at maximum effectiveness. 5 6

Attempt to Recruit Lu Yuan

At Notting Academy, Xiaogang immediately recognized Lu Yuan’s Innate Full Soul Power and Sky-Propelling Spear as an opportunity. Lu Yuan publicly questioned how a man over fifty and stalled at level 29 could teach anyone, leaving Xiaogang enraged and humiliated. 4 5

Xiaogang later tried to use Tang Hao’s status as a Titled Douluo to pressure Lu Yuan into accepting him as a master. His actual objective was to turn Lu Yuan into Tang San’s “right-hand man” and use both boys to establish his own reputation. 11

Tang San’s First Soul Ring

After failing to find a stronger target in the Soul Hunting Forest, Xiaogang directed Tang San to absorb a Ten-Year Lone Bamboo Soul Ring. He considered Blue Silver Grass inherently weak and intended to focus Tang San’s future development on the Clear Sky Hammer. 7

When Tang Hao confronted him, Xiaogang claimed that the Lone Bamboo’s toughness would strengthen Blue Silver Grass and prepare Tang San for stronger Soul Rings. After Tang Hao departed, Xiaogang privately admitted that he had bluffed to survive the encounter. 8

Martial Soul Mutation and Flight to Shrek Academy

A Black Mamba Tentacle Snake incident transformed Xiaogang and reduced his cultivation. His new form and humiliating soul skills devastated his self-image, but he still attempted to preserve his authority by praising Tang San’s ineffective Blue Silver Pole Vault. 9 10

After Tang Hao was defeated by Lu Yuan and Tang Wutong, Xiaogang fled Notting City with Tang Hao and Tang San, leading them to Shrek Academy. 14 20 21

Collapse of the Golden Iron Triangle

Liu Erlong’s arrival at Shrek Academy forced Xiaogang to confront both their past relationship and his altered appearance. He rejected her, attempted to flee, and refused to oppose Yu Luomian despite Flender’s efforts to defend them. 24 25

When the Golden Iron Triangle failed to activate its Martial Soul Fusion Skill, Xiaogang lost the role that had defined much of his former status. Yu Luomian’s mockery drove him to abandon Shrek Academy in anger and shame. 26

Descent into Evil

Outside Shrek Academy, Xiaogang killed two children with his mutated abilities and discovered that consuming their life force increased his soul power. Rather than reject the act, he embraced the identity of an Evil Soul Master and vowed revenge on everyone who had humiliated him. 26

He later began preying on civilians in Soto City, restoring his soul power to level 28. Spirit Hall identified the unknown culprit by his unusual skills and gave him the name “Fart Demon.” 35
