Background and History
Tang San entered Notting Academy alongside his newly accepted teacher, Yu Xiaogang. He initially reflected on Lu Yuan's criticism of Xiaogang's low cultivation, but ultimately suppressed his doubts and defended his teacher's authority. After Lu Yuan publicly challenged Xiaogang's qualifications, Tang San issued Lu Yuan a duel challenge out of loyalty to his master. 4 5
Yu Xiaogang took Tang San to Soul Hunting Forest for his first Soul Ring. After failing to locate a suitable target, Xiaogang directed him to absorb a Ten-Year Lone Bamboo ring. Tang San obeyed without understanding the difference between ten-year and hundred-year rings; Tang Wutong secretly ensured that no better Soul Beast became available. 6 7
The ring raised Tang San to level 12 and gave his Blue Silver Grass the Blue Silver Pole Vault skill. Though Tang San and Xiaogang privately regarded the technique as limited, Tang San continued to defend Xiaogang when Wang Sheng criticized it. 9 10
During the confrontation between Notting Academy's wealthy students and work-study students, Tang San covertly struck Liu Long with needles to assist Wang Sheng. Lu Yuan exposed the interference, then defeated Tang San's hidden weapons, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Step, and sleeve arrow. Tang San's attempted escape through Blue Silver Pole Vault ended when Lu Yuan shattered the hardened Blue Silver Grass, causing martial-soul backlash. 12
Tang San refused to concede even after Xiao Wu yielded on his behalf. His injuries and anger worsened until he lost consciousness; Lu Yuan's followers then carried him to Yu Xiaogang's residence and publicly humiliated him. 13
After Tang Hao was maimed while confronting Lu Yuan, Tang San fled Notting City with his father and Yu Xiaogang. In Soto City, he learned that Tang Hao was the Clear Sky Douluo and that his own second martial soul was the Clear Sky Hammer. He swore revenge against Lu Yuan, but Tang Hao forbade him from attaching Soul Rings to the hammer. 14 20 21
At Shrek Academy, Tang San later learned of Yu Xiaogang's expulsion from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. The revelation intensified his hatred toward the clan. 25
Personality
Tang San is intensely loyal to Yu Xiaogang. Even when he recognizes that his first soul skill is weak and briefly questions Xiaogang's qualifications, he defends his teacher against criticism and treats the master-disciple bond as equivalent to that of father and son. 5 10
He is proud, competitive, and unwilling to accept defeat. His anger after being exposed during the academy battle leads him to challenge Lu Yuan directly despite the evident disparity in strength; after Xiao Wu concedes, he still insists that he has not lost. 12 13
Tang San is also vengeful and deeply protective of those he considers family. Learning that Lu Yuan crippled Tang Hao immediately drives him to vow revenge, while Xiaogang's history with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan makes him swear hatred against the entire clan. 20 25
