Ding-ding-ding—
The school bell rang. It was lunchtime.
Hideki and Obito arrived at the rooftop of the school building, where Kakashi had been waiting for quite some time.
"Thanks," Hideki said, demonstrating traditional virtue.
Obito turned his head aside with an aloof, tsundere look on his face.
"No need," Kakashi said coolly. The dead-fish eyes he cast at the two of them carried a different sort of gleam today.
A serious gleam.
"I heard the two of you defeated a ninja."
"And beat him badly enough to put him in the hospital."
Hideki froze, and Obito turned to look over as well.
Clearly, neither of them had expected Kakashi to bring that up.
Hideki had really wanted to say coolly, "I merely taught him a lesson!"
But the image of that strange old man burying the two of them in the ground surfaced in his mind again. Hideki's face darkened, and he merely nodded without much enthusiasm.
"Yes."
"What is it, top student?"
There was more than a little personal resentment in that reply.
Kakashi's expression immediately darkened.
Just as I thought, this guy was hiding his strength.
Is he mocking my position as the top student!?
The person Dad and that man valued really has something to him.
A flood of thoughts sprang into Kakashi's mind at that moment.
But in the end, all those thoughts became a single sentence.
"In that case." Kakashi's gaze turned cold. "Fight me!"
"I really want to know just how far someone who has been hiding his strength has come!"
Kakashi erupted with intense fighting spirit.
Hideki saw it, but before he could react, Obito beside him had already entered battle mode.
"Bring it on! You think I'm scared of you!?"
Obito never backed down from a fight, and he was never absent when one broke out!
Not only was he still full of pent-up anger from that strange old man, but he had also perfectly executed the Great Fireball that morning!
With plenty of chakra and his fighting spirit soaring, especially since his opponent was Kakashi, Obito was brimming with confidence.
"I don't engage in meaningless fights with someone I've already defeated."
To his surprise, Kakashi frowned and rejected Obito's challenge.
His gaze fixed directly on Hideki. His eyes were still dead-fish eyes, yet like a sharp compass, they appeared rigid but were truly piercing.
"Damn it! What do you mean by that!?"
Obito immediately got upset, but Hideki stopped him. "It's fine, Obito."
Hideki looked calmly at Kakashi. "Perfect. I've wanted to fight this so-called top student for a long time too, but... are you sure you want to do it here?"
Kakashi did not care. "It's fine. I'll end this battle in the shortest time possible."
"Damn, impressive." Hideki curled his lip and gave him a thumbs-up.
"You may not care, you may be above it all, but if the teachers catch us, we'll be disciplined... You're the top student, White Fang's son, but Obito and I are different."
"We don't have the title of top student, nor do we have a superhuman father like White Fang as backing. If we get disciplined, we'll be taking a huge loss."
Hideki rattled that off in one breath, leaving Obito beside him completely bewildered.
He always felt that Hideki was insulting someone, but he had no proof.
Kakashi's gaze grew increasingly hostile...
"Then what do you suggest?" Kakashi asked coldly. "Should we find a suitable place to fight, or pick another time... Fine, we'll do it your way!"
Kakashi was getting anxious. He was really getting anxious.
Kakashi might have seemed carefree, but he actually had strong pride.
He wore a mask to cover his handsome face, and kept it on all the way into Boruto's era, all because his father had said the beauty mark at the corner of his mouth was cute.
After White Fang died, Kakashi's dead-fish eyes became even duller, but the boundaries in his heart also became clearer and clearer.
"There's no need to make it that troublesome." Hideki spread his hands, though his eyes narrowed slightly.
"I have a better and more straightforward way to determine the winner."
Hideki wanted to fight Kakashi too, but it was not rational.
The two of them did not follow the same path... Leaving aside Kakashi's future, even now he mainly used White Fang's swordsmanship and taijutsu.
He was essentially on a warrior-assassin path.
And those happened to be Hideki's weaknesses.
He did have experience fighting Uchiha brats, but that experience was clearly not enough. Otherwise, Obito would not have been the dead last.
Although Hideki had now mastered the close-range weapon known as the Rasengan, strictly speaking, he was only a mage.
Well, a half-baked mage.
After all, Minato had developed the Rasengan to enhance the killing power of Flying Thunder God tactics.
Under these circumstances, going head-to-head with Kakashi, who had basically been built with a protagonist template since childhood, was truly not rational.
But whether it was rational and whether he dared were two different matters.
Hideki had no other notable virtues, except that he possessed the fine qualities of staying calm and daring to fight.
Cowardice? Didn't exist.
"As a ninja, you must know at least one ninjutsu, right, Kakashi?" Hideki said calmly. "You didn't use one when you fought Obito, but I figured it out long ago."
How did he know!? I hid it so well!
Kakashi was startled inside, but his expression remained unchanged. That might have been one of the benefits of wearing a mask.
"That's right. So what?"
"Then this is easy." Hideki raised a brow and spread his hands. "Use your strongest ninjutsu. As long as you can withstand one attack from me, you win!"
"If the teacher asks, we were only sparring. We didn't use kunai, and Obito can testify for us. How about it?"
To be honest, Kakashi hesitated at first.
Something about it felt off. He had come to challenge Hideki, so why had it become him having to take one of Hideki's attacks?
But... whatever.
He did not know many ninjutsu, but every one he knew was exceptionally solid.
Kakashi was confident that he could steadily block Hideki's ninjutsu attack.
It should be Fire Release. First Uchiha Beiying, then that ninja—Hideki probably specializes in Fire Release.
Kakashi thought quickly.
If that's the case, then I'll use this move...
"Are you ready?" Hideki asked calmly.
Kakashi nodded. "Make your hand signs!"
Kakashi's understanding of a ninjutsu clash involved hand-sign speed, ninjutsu quality, and the artistic flair of the technique.
The last part was purely personal preference.
But Hideki's answer was: hand signs? Not happening.
Not only did he not need hand signs, he even had the spare energy to show off.
"You make your hand signs first. I'm afraid that once I strike, you won't have a chance to resist."
What arrogance!
Kakashi's eyes turned cold. How had he never noticed this guy was so begging for a beating?
Forget it... Kakashi took a deep breath and calmed himself.
His hands formed seals, his movements remarkably smooth and solid, far more pleasing to the eye than Obito's Great Fireball hand signs.
Then, Kakashi pressed both hands to the ground. "Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!"
A wall of earth bearing a dog head rose from the ground!
Obito: !!!!
At that moment, Obito's hatred for Earth Release reached its peak!
"Oh?" Hideki raised a brow. It was also his first time seeing Kakashi's Dog-Head Earth-Style Wall in person.
It had to be said, it possessed quite an artistic flair. It felt as though it gave the ninjutsu a soul.
"Your turn!" Kakashi shouted coldly.
Hideki, meanwhile, walked forward at an unhurried pace. He made no hand signs and did not even make any unnecessary movements.
When he reached the earthen wall, he tapped that adorably foolish dog head with his hand.
"Oh, it's pretty hard." Hideki gave a small sigh of admiration.
Then chakra surged from his palm!
"Excuse my poor showing!"
Hideki formed a Rasengan in three seconds, then smashed it straight into the dog head on Kakashi's earthen wall!
BOOM!!!!
That adorably foolish dog head was smashed to pieces on the spot, and the earthen wall was blasted open with a huge hole!
He had truly blown his dog head to pieces.
Kakashi stood frozen behind the earthen wall. The violent chakra had come within arm's reach of him, and even with the wall blocking it, he could still feel its power with absolute clarity!
If that move had hit his body, then...
Minato would never have imagined that Hideki could master the Rasengan so quickly.
Otherwise, he absolutely would not have taught it to two young boys.
Minato actually knew that although the technique looked simple, mastering it required considerable effort.
And that was for ordinary ninjas with a certain foundation in chakra.
What he did not know was that some people might not be ninjas, but they were anything but ordinary.
By that logic, Hideki was practically someone developing Bloodline Elimination!
Bloodline or not did not matter, but elimination was one hundred percent certain!
