The Primordial World.
Everywhere brimmed with flourishing life.
A pure white tiger, without a single stray hair in its fur, carried a young man on its back as it rode the clouds between the mountains.
"Master, do we have a destination for this journey?"
"No."
"Oh, all right."
The tiger nodded and continued onward.
As they walked, a blood-red hue spread across the horizon.
"Houtu, although your Witch Clan defeated the Demon Race and seized the heavens and earth of the Primordial World, the Blood Sea is my territory. If you leave now, I can let bygones be bygones!"
An enraged voice resounded through heaven and earth.
Those words happened to reach the young man riding the White Tiger.
The White Tiger nodded slightly. "Master, it's Lady Houtu. Should we go take a look?"
The young man nodded. "Let's go take a look."
"Got it!"
A gleam of gossip lit up the White Tiger's eyes. Clouds rose beneath its paws as it flew toward the blood-red horizon.
There was drama!
Styx, clad in a blood-red robe and wearing a cold expression, held Yuan Tu and Abi in his hands. His crimson eyes carried traces of fury as he confronted Houtu.
"I will compensate you afterward. Ask for whatever you want."
Seeing Styx's anger, Houtu also found the matter somewhat troublesome.
Her ten-thousand-year journey through the Primordial World had indeed allowed her to find an opportunity to attain the Dao. Yet the location of that opportunity was rather unfortunate: the Blood Sea.
The Blood Sea had been formed from Pangu's navel. It contained the blood of countless Gods and Devils, along with the blood of Gods and Devils who had fallen in battle over the years, all of which flowed into the Blood Sea.
Styx had been born from the Blood Sea. After managing it for so many years, he had long regarded it as his private possession. If it had been any other great mighty figure, even if she could not persuade them, she could have summoned her brothers and sisters and reasoned with them. But Styx was different. His strength was formidable, placing him among the foremost great mighty figures beneath the Sages. Most troublesome of all, he possessed a divine ability known as Blood Godlings.
He had refined 480 million Blood Godlings. Every one of them was Styx's avatar, deeply bound to the Blood Sea. So long as even a drop of Blood Sea water remained, he would be immortal and indestructible.
Her place of attaining the Dao lay within the Blood Sea, yet the Blood Sea was Styx's territory. Without Styx's permission, even entering the Blood Sea had become a problem for her.
Styx felt much the same as Houtu. The Blood Sea was the foundation upon which he stood, so naturally he could not surrender it. If it had been any other great mighty figure, he would not have wasted so many words. He would have cleaved at them with his sword and let them taste the sharpness of Yuan Tu and Abi.
But Houtu stood opposite him, and he did not dare draw his sword. After all, the Twelve Ancestral Witches were reckless brutes with muscles for brains. They looked lightly upon life and death; if they refused to submit, they fought. Though the Blood Sea gave him the confidence that he would not die, he still did not want to keep getting beaten up.
The sight of Pangu's phantom beating Zhunti senseless back then was still vivid in his mind.
Thus, the two remained deadlocked.
Until...
"Lu Chen, why are you here?"
Sensing a familiar aura approaching, Houtu turned around, surprise appearing on her face.
"I had nothing to do, so I came down the mountain for a walk. Before I knew it, I had reached the vicinity of the Blood Sea. I happened to hear you confronting Fellow Daoist Styx again, so I came to take a look."
"Fellow Daoist Styx?"
Hearing how Lu Chen addressed him, Styx's brow furrowed slightly. His crimson eyes fixed fiercely upon Lu Chen, killing intent flickering within them.
"Has Sage Tongtian never taught you the distinction between superiority and inferiority?"
"Fellow Daoist Styx, you and my master were both guests of Zixiao Palace back then. But now my master has become a Sage. Though my cultivation is temporarily inferior to yours, I am still on the same level as you. Tell me, can I call you Fellow Daoist, or can I not?"
Lu Chen stepped down from Bai Geng's back, took one step forward, and released a trace of Primordial Golden Immortal aura.
Feeling the Primordial Golden Immortal aura emanating from Lu Chen, Styx's gaze shook violently.
Although Lu Chen's aura was faint and immature, it was undoubtedly the aura of a Primordial Golden Immortal, not the aura of a Quasi-Saint attained through severing corpses!
"Back then, Fellow Daoist Tongtian had been trapped at Great Luo for many years. With a single moment of enlightenment, he comprehended the Sword Dao and entered the realm of Primordial Golden Immortal. I never expected that today, his disciple would also embark upon the path of Primordial Unity."
Styx's face was filled with emotion, and he was no longer so resistant to Lu Chen calling him Fellow Daoist.
After all, Primordial Golden Immortals and Quasi-Saints belonged to the same level.
The Primordial World did not look at seniority, only cultivation.
The higher your cultivation, the more senior you were.
"What have you come here for?"
Styx looked at Lu Chen with a trace of wariness in his eyes.
He did not fear Lu Chen alone. Even if Houtu were added to the equation, he still did not fear them. After all, he had experienced founding a religion and establishing the Asura, and his realm had already reached the peak of Quasi-Saint. There was no further path forward; one more step would mean attaining the Dao and becoming a Sage.
What he feared was the Witch Clan and the Sword Sage Tongtian behind Lu Chen. One was the only dominant race in the Primordial World, while the other had opened a precedent in the Primordial World by attaining the Dao through Primordial Unity.
"Houtu, why did you come into conflict with Styx?"
Lu Chen transmitted his voice to Houtu and asked.
He knew the point of conflict between Houtu and Styx, but knowing was one thing; he certainly could not say it outright.
"I realized that my opportunity to attain the Dao lies in the Blood Sea. But to attain the Dao, I need to draw upon a portion of the Blood Sea... I came to discuss it with Styx, but he was unwilling."
Houtu helplessly explained the entire course of events.
She had always held some trust and gratitude toward Lu Chen. Without him, she would not have perceived the greater currents of the Primordial World or discovered the filth of the Heavenly Dao and the Sages.
"I see..."
After hearing her out, Lu Chen rubbed his chin and pretended to ponder.
"Fellow Daoist Styx, I believe there is a way to satisfy both sides."
Styx was stunned for a moment. Then suspicion appeared in his eyes as he lowered Yuan Tu and Abi. "A way to satisfy both sides? Let's hear it."
"You may be able to stop her from attaining the Dao for a time, but you cannot stop her forever. Once Dijiang and the others learn of this, do you believe that, given their temperaments, they would block your doorstep and beat you up? Even though the Blood Sea supports you and makes you immortal and indestructible, you do not want to keep getting beaten up either, do you?"
"Furthermore, if you help Houtu attain the Dao, then as the Lord of the Blood Sea, you will have rendered her aid on the Dao. And if she wishes to attain the Dao, she will surely need to establish great merit. If you sacrifice part of the Blood Sea, when merit descends, you will certainly receive a share. Your current strength is only one step away from the threshold. Perhaps that merit may help you push open that great door."
Lu Chen laid out the stakes.
After hearing Lu Chen's words, Styx had to admit that he was somewhat tempted.
"I can help you, but when the time comes, my share of the benefits must not be lacking."
Styx looked at Houtu and spoke in a deep voice.
"Of course."
Houtu nodded.
"Then follow me."
Styx turned around and made way for them to enter the Blood Sea.
"Thank you."
Houtu turned her head toward Lu Chen and thanked him.
"No need to thank me."
Lu Chen smiled and shook his head.
The establishment of the Six Paths of Reincarnation would benefit the entire Primordial World.
Lu Chen and Houtu followed Styx into the Blood Sea.
Within the Blood Sea, resentment and Killing Intent merged into Yin Baleful Energy. Yin Baleful Energy filled the entire Blood Sea. Those who remained in the Blood Sea for long would have their Primordial Spirits tainted by it; even great mighty figures could not avoid it.
Lu Chen cultivated the Devouring Path. Any Yin Baleful Energy that entered his Primordial Spirit was completely devoured.
Houtu herself possessed no Primordial Spirit, so naturally she did not fear Yin Baleful Energy.
"So, opening the Cycle of Reincarnation is my Dao?"
