Background / History
Kotoamatsukami first appears as a manifested Shikigami when Yu uses Kamui: Shikigami Extraction on Shinshiki. Kamui confines Kotoamatsukami and Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto in his domain; the Heavenly True Name Record later lists Shinshiki as Kotoamatsukami’s former owner and Yu as its new owner 871 1003.
When Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi are drawn into the domain, Kotoamatsukami helps Kamui and Tsukuyomi capture them. After Tsukuyomi immobilizes Kagutsuchi, Kotoamatsukami controls him and makes him extinguish Amaterasu’s flames. Kamui then binds both newcomers in black cocoons 898.

Personality
Kotoamatsukami is mischievous and openly spiteful. Asked why he helps imprison Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi, he says that if his own group cannot have a good life, no one else should either. After their capture, he finds their shared confinement exciting rather than lamenting it 898.
