..
Outside the main hall.
After Sayidat's figure had completely disappeared into the distance, the sound of sobbing gradually rose from within the hall.
Lairn, standing behind Guter, froze for a moment before moving to push open the wooden doors and see what was going on.
Guter turned around. Seeing Lairn's actions, he hurriedly reached out to stop him, but he was still a step too late.
Fortunately, just as Lairn was about to push open the doors, Serie, who was tying her disciple Gumi's hair inside, raised a hand.
A ripple of magic flashed, and the hall's wooden doors were sealed shut. No matter how hard Lairn pushed from outside, he could not open them.
Serie gently stroked Gumi's hair a few times, signaling that no socially oblivious idiots would come in to disturb her now, so she could keep crying.
Outside the main hall.
Seeing Lairn still preparing to knock and ask their master to open the door, Guter helplessly rubbed his forehead and used his free hand to haul his junior disciple Lairn back.
"Tch—"
Guter lightly rapped Lairn on the head with his knuckles. "I don't know whether Sayidat understands social etiquette, but you really are something else."
"Don't knock. Come into the city with me. Let's buy something tasty to bring back for our junior disciple."
Lairn might not have understood social etiquette, but there was nothing wrong with his intelligence. Once Guter said that, he roughly understood what had happened.
"So, Senior Brother, it's our junior disciple crying in the hall because Sayidat's account reminded her of when her hometown was destroyed?"
"What else would it be?"
Guter shrugged. "Could it possibly be Teacher Serie crying?"
"My teacher, whose heart broke with rage because her magic had been transferred to someone else, crying and throwing a tantrum, sob, sob, how pitiful?"
"Junior Brother, do you think that's possible?"
"Probably... not."
Listening to Guter's description, even Lairn, who lacked social awareness, could not imagine such a scene.
"Exactly. Come on, let's buy our junior disciple something good to eat."
With that, Guter took Lairn around the snack and dessert stalls in Oysaster City. Under the wary gazes of countless stall owners, they bought only a few of each item.
Finally, when Guter arrived at the best restaurant in the city, Lake, the head chef, was squatting outside the entrance with a cigarette in his mouth, enjoying himself. The instant he saw Guter, he went blank.
Before Guter could say anything, Lake stuck his head into the restaurant and shouted toward the kitchen and servers, "Get the fires going! Prepare the dishes!"
"And you, hurry up and buy ingredients before the market closes!!!"
Watching the restaurant suddenly descend into chaos, Lairn stared blankly at his senior brother.
"Tch."
Guter clicked his tongue, reached out to pull back the purchasing clerk who was about to head out, then turned to his junior brother behind him.
"See that? That's what you call a reputation."
With that, Guter led the server who had been about to go shopping back into the restaurant, knocked on the kitchen door, and told Lake that he was ordering very little this time, and that it was all takeout. There was no need to act as though facing a great enemy.
"Haha, i-is that so?"
Lake scratched his head awkwardly. Mainly because, during that period before, the combination of Guter and Gumi had traumatized every restaurant owner and chef in Oysaster City.
In the owners' minds, this pair was known as the "Inventory Fiends."
Because no matter how much stock a restaurant had left for the day, those two could basically clear it all out. Especially that man—whenever you thought he was almost full, all he needed was to sit for a few minutes before returning to Combat State at full health.
Among the chefs, however, the pair had another nickname: the "Bringers of Closing Time."
Because no matter when you saw this man and woman walk into a restaurant, the time the establishment would close that day was already decided.
As long as these two big shots—gluttons—could eat their fill, especially once that male glutton ended his Combat State, every employee in the restaurant could clock out, because there would probably be nothing left to eat in the entire kitchen.
After a while,
when head chef Lake handed Guter a stack of packed lunch boxes from the kitchen, he could not help asking him,
"What's going on lately? Bad appetite? No appetite at all?"
There will be another update tomorrow afternoon. Also, Sayidat's name comes from the German word for "soldier," Soldat.
I really am meticulous.
Also, it's the end of the month, so please support me with some monthly votes.
Of course, tips would be even better. If some generous reader gives me an alliance leader rank, hehehehe.
