Background / History

Gumi is the surviving heir of the Dallamonus Merchant Guild. Her parents built their remote hometown into the guild's prosperous headquarters, but Guillotine Aura attacked it with her forces. Gumi survived only because she had been locked inside a narrow safe containing Demon Sealing Ore, which prevented the demons from detecting her. Her parents died protecting her, while the headquarters and village were reduced to ruins. 50

After the attack, Gumi entrusted the damaged guild to its butler, Miles, and left to seek strength for revenge against demons. The trauma of witnessing her homeland's destruction left her with a profound hatred for demons. 50

She became Serie's disciple and requested magic capable of inflicting massive, agonizing damage on demons rather than food-related magic, despite her cheerful, food-loving public persona. 20 As a disciple, she remained in Oysaster with Lairn while Serie and Guter traveled to the Holy City, helping oversee construction of the Continental Magic Association branch. 30

Gumi later began independently searching the wilderness for Aura. Miles had her sedated, restrained, and sent back to Oysaster, but she attempted an escape during the journey using Fog Magic and a decoy shoe to disrupt magical tracking. Serie ultimately found her with an injured left foot. 172 175

Gumi is a young girl with fair skin and, initially, long loose hair that she later wears in a braid with Serie's hair tie. 18 29

Behind that warmth, Gumi carries grief, self-consciousness, and a relentless desire for revenge. Oysaster and the Association

During the First Mage Examination, Gumi's grief resurfaces. Serie comforts her, gives her a hair tie, and takes the disciples to dinner. 29 When Serie and Guter leave for the Holy City, Gumi remains in Oysaster with Lairn to assist the Association branch's construction. 30

Pursuit of Aura

Gumi searches for Aura independently, only to be forcibly returned by her guild's retainers. She escapes the caravan temporarily but is intercepted and treated by Serie. 172 175 She then undertakes hazardous preparation for her revenge: accelerating her study of Cursed Reversal Magic and revealing the physical cost of her magic-storage technique. 180 181

Battle with Guillotine Aura

Gumi and Guter infiltrate Aura's lair, with Gumi insisting on confronting Aura herself while Guter handles the other demons. 183 She purifies Aura's undead guards, survives Hewitt's ambush, and pushes her stored power beyond its limits in the Scales of Obedience duel. 184 185

Gumi wins and orders Aura to self-destruct, but dies from burning through her magic-storage cells and sea of consciousness. Guter rewinds events to revive her that morning, allowing her to witness Aura's final death. 185 186 Her resurrection removes the black marks on her body and begins to free her from the self-loathing and hatred that had defined her life. 186

Return to Oysaster

Guter uses the Statue of Serie to heal Gumi and bring her home. 188 He refuses public credit for Aura's defeat so that Gumi receives recognition for accomplishing her long-sought revenge. 188
