Background / History

Yan Hong broke through A's Lightning Armor with Fire Release: Rasengan, wounded him repeatedly with Cold Edge, and ultimately forced him to surrender his scrolls. A attempted to turn the battle with Lightning Release: Lightning Explosion, but Yan Hong survived by exploiting the armor's protection. The defeat left A physically devastated and deeply humiliated. 100 101

While recovering in Sunagakure, A vowed to surpass Yan Hong. His father, the First Raikage, reassured him that underestimating his opponents—not personal inadequacy—had caused the loss, then offered to use him in a dangerous jinchūriki experiment. A accepted immediately in pursuit of greater strength. 104

During the Lightning Country war, A initially attacked Black Zetsu on sight when the latter infiltrated Thunderlight City. Although distrustful, he accepted Black Zetsu's plan to use White Zetsu's underground transport to retake Thundercloud City and encircle the Land of Flame's forces. 181

A later fought Yan Hong again as the host of the Two-Tails. He wielded Lightning Armor beneath a Susanoo skeleton and carried Matatabi within him, but Yan Hong regarded the Tailed Beast chakra with contempt. 188

Personality

A is aggressive, proud, and direct. He responds to unknown threats with immediate force, as shown by his attempt to strike Black Zetsu before hearing the intruder's proposal. 181
