History

Founding and renaming

The Land of Waterfalls was a resource-rich minor nation located between the Land of Fire and the Land of Earth. Its terrain made it naturally easy to defend and difficult to invade, placing its strategic value below only the five great nations among smaller countries 26.

The Uchiha Clan seized control of the country by placing its daimyo under genjutsu and installing Uchiha Mu as a compliant replacement. Yan Hong ordered Mu to devote seventy percent of the national treasury to constructing the Uchiha settlement and rejected the daimyo’s proposed name of Takigakure 29.

Within a month, the country had been renamed the Land of Flame and the Uchiha had founded Flame Hidden Village. Uchiha Madara became its first Flame Shadow, while the village adopted the Three-Tomoe Sharingan as its emblem 30.

Development and integration

Shinobi revolution

For several years, the Land of Flame outwardly maintained the Daimyo Palace system while Flame Hidden Village controlled it from behind the scenes 133.

In its fifth year, the Council Hall abolished the Daimyo Palace and publicly declared Flame Hidden Village the nation’s highest authority. The Flame Shadow became supreme leader, and the country introduced the Shinobi Privilege System, making the Land of Flame the first openly shinobi-ruled nation 133.

The original Land of Waterfalls lay between the Land of Fire and the Land of Earth, with defensible terrain and substantial natural resources 26.

Flame Hidden Village was constructed openly before a massive waterfall rather than hidden behind it. The area behind the waterfall became a restricted core zone for the village’s upper ranks 30.

After construction was completed, the village was divided into two districts:

• Core military district — Located within the waterfall and centered on the Flame Shadow Building; restricted to village shinobi and containing vital military facilities 59.

Military structure

Uchiha Cannons

The Uchiha Cannons are enormous Dragon Vein Chakra-powered siege weapons developed by the Flame Hidden Armory. Their destructive power is compared to a Tailed Beast Ball, and they can strike fortified cities from beyond the defenders’ own weapons’ range 173.
